Yeah I tend to think most people know Macy's sales are like that, and just won't pay full price for things or look down on you for how high the full price is. Whenever friends have Macy's registries I stalk them to get the best thing at the lowest price.

Anyone who pays full price for anything at Kohl's is paying the Idiot Tax.
In the past when I've had friends with Macy's registries (which has been often, people love to register at Macy's) I've had success finding items on the Macy's registry for less on Amazon. Plus, I have Prime, so free shipping. I have been able to call Macy's and they have marked it as purchased. For example, right now our place setting is $82 on Amazon (although it's been down as low as $65 in the past month) and $99 at Macy's.
Nooooooo the reason so many people register at Macy's is cuz their rewards are so good! I got a percentage back of everything people bought me as a gift card after the wedding that I could use with my completion discount.
Wait...what? What is this sorcery? I don't usually shop at Macy's. No real reason, just don't shop their much. But what you're saying is..if people buy things off your registery from Macy's...Macy's then gives you money?

Cause...we're fucking registering there if that's the case.
Yes. You get 5% of what people buy off your registry, and 10% off anything you buy for yourself on your Macy's card during the time your registry is up (like if you buy your FI's suit there, WP gifts, outfit for the RD or HM, whatever). I got like $200 back on a gift card and bought my vacuum cleaner.
Do you need a Macy's card to get the points?
Yes, you need a Macy's card, but the rewards are paid out via a gift card 2-3 months after the wedding.

  • im  on the same boat my shower is next week and now everything is regular priced grrrrr and a lot of people havent bought the gifts yet bc we have my cousin's fi shower this sunday! so they will have to get things regular priced grrrr

  • Macy's has to put things at "full" price occasionally to advertise their typical prices as sales. People who shop there usually know how it goes! The full price time is usually in the middle of the week. Friends and Family sale should be starting soon which is an extra 25% off. (If you shop at Macy's a lot go the week before Friends and Family and do a pre-sale so you can get the extra 25% and great sales.) If someone did happen to pay full price during the week and then the item went on sale on the weekend they can get a price adjustment with their receipt..... I worked their for way to long..... The rewards are awesome and one of the biggest reasons I registered there.

Don't worry about it. Honestly, it will probably go back on sale in no time. Besides, Macy's almost always has coupons & promo codes.

Most importantly, you can put whatever you want on your registry. It's yours. If you want to register for a $500 pillow, you can. (People probably won't buy it, of course, but you can.)
