I'm assuming you posted your OP to get unbiased outside perspective on the situation. You even asked us to let you know if you were being crazy/out of line. 

We are giving you honest feedback based on what you posted. 

If you didn't want this, then why post?

"Flavor of the week" is a pretty mean comment. Also the whole "they're Mexican and we're white" - yeah that's pretty racist. So I'm pretty sure everyone's comments are freaking words of angels compared to your comments/observations of the people in your life.

Lady, this isn't a "woman" thing, a "white" thing, a "Mexican" thing- this is a bonkers thing. The fact that you keep making this out to be based on gender or race is baffling and offering a lot of insight into how you handle situations and your immediate leap to deffensiveness. 

You went nuclear early. Apologise for the scene. Apologise to the landowner, this woman, anyone else involved. Learn to control your drink and conduct.

Everyone makes mistakes. But you need to realise this is fairly bad, apologise, and move on.

You are absolutely 100% correct.  I always do a topping of crumbled bacon and at home, a sweet onion, chopped and caramelized, and then more cheese on top.  (At potlucks, I'll often skip the caramelized onion, because a surprising lot of people don't care for it.) It bakes into this incredible crunchy rich brown top, so good that evil people sneak into the kitchen and pick it off and eat it, which pisses off the next person who wants their fair share.

And yes to SouthernBelle. Smoked Gouda is a fantastic addition, and Gruyere is my favorite.
