Happy Tuesday!

My week is off to a great start. The sun is FINALLY out after a week of non-stop rain, and I found I got my first quarter bonus.

Re: Happy Tuesday!

  • Yay for bonuses and sun!

We watch our TV/movies/video games/etc on a projector, and on Sunday night the little speaker we use just up and died on us. So last night we went to Best Buy to find a new solution. We looked at a bunch of different types of speakers, and were disappointed to see the only thing that uses aux anymore basically is Beats, which is overpriced and we wanted to avoid that. All other speaker options seem to be Bluetooth only, but our projector doesn't have Bluetooth capabilities, and Best Buy didn't sell anything that would allow us to create a signal from it. We ALMOST bought the $200 Beats pill, but then we found the same speaker we'd been using for $25 and decided to just buy that again as a placeholder while we work on a better solution.

After that we tried to decide where to go for dinner and FI said, "Why don't we stand around and look at restaurants for an hour and then end up going the same place as last time?" Good laughs were had.

I'm ready for this work week to be over though. Yesterday afternoon the woman who heads our disability service office basically threw a tantrum when I wouldn't disclose the records of a student. It was the dumbest conversation ever, and not the first time this has happened with her or other staff members/faculty. I'm getting a little sick of working with other higher education "professionals" who treat federal privacy laws like they're inconvenient and annoying suggestions.

  • Congrats on the bonus!

Tuesday's been okay so far. I'm currently peer reviewing a 40 page document at work and it's mind-numbingly boring. I don't anticipate my day getting any more exciting than that. I'm also currently irritated with our IT department because they still haven't updated my email address with my new last name. It's been over 2 months since I submitted the request and they're "still working on it". Ugh.

Tonight we have a quiet night planned - H is going to go on a 5 mile run with me and then I'm going to spend the rest of the night coloring in my new coloring book. I feel like a little kid again and it's great.

I might also spend some time working with the dog tonight. We've been bringing him to obedience class but totally slack during the week on what we're supposed to be working on. Had a shining pet mom moment last night - Fred actually put himself to bed in his crate last night. Normally we have to put him in there (he's fine once he's actually in there at night - during the day is another story) but last night he hopped off the couch when we got up and went right in and laid down. He got all the praise and a bedtime treat from mom for being so awesome. Now if we could only get him to stop peeing in his crate during the day and pooping whenever we leave the house...

  • That's awesome!

I had a great Monday- I always love  Monday nights because the fridge is stocked from weekend grocery shopping, I have yoga, and Dancing With the Stars is on- combo for a great night!

I finally got to ride my bike to work because it didn't rain, and wow I saved so much commute time. I have another workout class tonight and I need to hit up the last day of the Sephora VIB sale too. So far a very productive week, woot!

This is a lady who when she doesn't get her way, will actually go to the office of the person who has the power to help her, and cry until they do. Grown ass woman.

  • @littlepep normally I don't mind editing but I JUST did it last week for one of our sales guys so I'm burnt out lol. And definitely get a coloring book! I ordered mine off of Amazon and it came yesterday. H was laughing at me because I was seriously as excited as a 5 year old to come home and dive into it with my new colored pencils.

  • Good morning all!  Congrats on the bonus!

My Monday was okay.  Fi had an emergency root canal so I was able to leave work at 6:30 and keep him company on the couch.  I'm almost finished with my thank you cards.

Tuesday is off to a rough start.  My subway train was completely MIA this morning so I missed my 7:30AM barre class.  They were nice enough to switch me into the 8:00, but I had to take an Uber and just barely made it.  That class was a level up from what I usually take so I was afraid I might die, but I felt really accomplished at the end of it.

Then, in the WTF is wrong with people track, as we were getting off the subway at Times Square (practically everyone is getting off the train) this guy behind me can't wait his turn and shoves past me to get to the train door, catching my headphones in his backpack.  I'm stuck behind him yelling OW OW OW a bunch of times until he finally turned around and gave me a dirty look, which gave me enough time to unhook my headphones from his backpack.  I realized later he had actually ripped the headphone out of my left ear, leaving the rubber part still in my ear, if that gives you a sense of how hard he caught the headphones.  DUDE.  We are all getting off the train and going the same place.  Slow your roll.

I'm now drinking lots of coffee and closed the door to my office because, people.

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • I got bronchitis.

    image

The good news is, I caught it early, because I get this shit twice a year every year when the weather changes and I know the signs. The bad news is, even though I get this shit twice a year every year when the weather changes, I'm still not legally allowed to prescribe myself the medicine I need.

I called my insurance about my copays for an urgent-care type facility, because I couldn't remember how much they were, and my PCP is an hour and a half away. My urgent-care copays are $75. Fucking nope. I could go to my PCP for less than that, including gas and food.

Plus, my PCP is awesome and has a "virtual office visit" program, where you tell the nice computer what your symptoms are, and within 24 hours the doctor or nurse calls you back to discuss, and if they think your assessment is right they'll call you in the prescription(s) and charge you $45, which is about $5 less than the copay + gas in the office. If your assessment doesn't sound right, they'll make an appointment for the same day they call you back and you won't get charged the $45.

  • JCbride2015 emergency root canal sounds awful! I hate the dentist. I also hate rude people who think wherever they need to get to is important than wherever you need to get to. Unless you're about to birth a baby or some other major medical issue, calm the eff down.

  • hellosweetie1015 I used to have the exact same thing. Have you ever been to an allergist? My doctor recommended it to me after going in with bronchitis every spring and fall. I got on allergy meds and I've been doing shots and I feel a million times better. No more bronchitis!

  • Congrats on the bonus!

I'm traveling to the next nearest city after work today for lots of errand running.  Eyebrow threading, Sephora, Target, Home Depot, and then home to continue my wedding packing saga.  Tonight, I'll be packing my toiletries, and seeing how successful I can be at packing clothes and wedding décor into one suitcase. Should be a blast!

  • The ridiculous Common Core State Testing we are doing isn't working. The server can't accommodate all the students logging in. So testing is suspended right now. Which makes for HELL for us teachers until it's fixed. We are in limbo with continuing our units, and staying stuck on test prep.

Like did the vendor really not consider that the server would need to accommodate this many people? And plan accordingly? OF COURSE NOT.

  • Yay congrats on the bonus!

My Tuesday will probably be uneventful. I want to work on some wedding stuff, so my goal is to finish up some things. I'm also hungry. And I just have a salad for lunch. Meh. Maybe I'll get a soup, too. Yea, that's my uneventful Tuesday lol.

OOOOOOOH YOU ARE LIVING MY DREAM.

I never had bronchitis before 2009 - and then I got it in the middle of a stressful summer minimester, and wound up with pneumonia right at finals time. And ever since it's been freaking clockwork. I may have to look into that - if it helps, I'd LOVE to miss my spring/fall illness.

  • I'm pretty proud of myself this morning.

I am a giant morning grumpus. I have perfected the art of getting ready in 10 minutes so I can sleep as late as possible. This morning, not only did I getup an hour and a half early, I did a HIIT workout, showered, blow dried my hair (which is a feat in itself since its lower back length) Put on freaking makeup! AND had time to cut up some avocado to throw into my salad that I
    pre-made last night.

I am on a freaking ROLL. The world is my oyster!

.......I am anticipating major energy crash in T-minus 2 hours......

That's awesome! Way go to! I am not a morning person either. I was thinking of maybe trying to wake up like 5-10 minutes earlier each day to see if I can get myself in a routine. I'm such a grumpy cat in the morning.

  • I'm cranky and unmotivated today.  Add in feeling like a bottomless pit surrounded by snacks at work and this is going to be a bad day!

Hoping to have the energy to go to strength class tonight since it is a good workout and usually pretty fun. Then it's time for thank you notes from the bridal shower Sunday and getting those out the door asap

  • I am fully recovered from my weekend.

So. I exercised this morning, and I'm gonna go run some errands quick before I got back to OMG I HAVE TO CLEAN mode.

Since our friends aren't able to make it up this weekend afterall, I might start working on convincing H that we should clean the garage on Saturday. Fun times.

  • I am procrastinating.  I have a bunch of stuff to do in preparation for school, and somehow they switched systems at work and now it's my problem that commission didn't transfer over, so I have to manually go through thousands of invoices to add it in.  It's also frustrating because it's not my responsibility at all, and it's just another coworker pushing her work on me.  Ugh.

  • I am not a fan of Mondays, especially if it involves grocery shopping (that I didn't get to over the weekend), working in the yard, and running errands until 9pm. That was my yesterday.

Hopefully this evening will be more relaxing. I'm planning on making crabcakes and grilled veggies for dinner. Then I'm hoping H and I can catch up on some recorded shows. I feel like ever since we bought our house, all we do is work in the yard and clean. Home ownership is great, but it can also be a pain in the butt.
