Welcome Dinners and Post-wedding Brunches- a thing these days?

I think we're going to have a super informal welcome reception. Like rent the party room at our apt building, buy a bunch of apps and wine from Costco, and have whoever wants to stop by. Our wedding is OOT for 50% of guests, so I think my family especially will take us up on it. Probably not so much the WP and friends who see us all the time.
