Wtf H?!

You guys, H just texted me and said he is making us "walking tacos" for dinner. I asked him WTF that is and told him it sounds dirty...because I am 12.

Apparently you take a small bag of doritos, toss in the hamburger and all the fixing, shake it up and then eat it out of the bag. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. I guess it is something that he and his friends used to do in their bachelor days. Omg....

What are some gross things your S/O does?

Re: Wtf H?!

  • I think that's a pretty common recipe for camping?  Although I've seen it more with fritos than doritos.  With fritos it sounds kind of good.

  • Hahaha yeah that's a big Boy Scout thing too, and I've heard of friends serving them for kids' birthday parties. Never heard of adults making/eating them just for funesies though!

  • You've never heard of those? Everyone I knew ate that in college.

  • Also, are you really complaining that your H is making dinner?  My FI has made me dinner like 2 times ever (he's not a good cook so it's not terrible that he doesn't).

  • Blech! I just keep thinking of a big glob of soggy chips and taco meat. Kill me now.

    Mmmmm now I want nachos!

Never heard of walking tacos, but I'm scared to ask FI because then I might have to try it.

ETA: Because FI was a boy scout.

  • I can't believe this is actually a thing! I have never heard of it until today!

  • We have friends that make walking tacos when they camp but never at home. I'd rather just make tacos at home.

H's eating habits are disgusting. He will pretty much eat anything and uses every condiment in the fridge on every meal. Two examples - leftover baked beans mixed with cottage cheese, which he then heated up in the microwave and topped with siracha and honey mustard pretzel pieces. The other super disgusting combo - leftover pasta mixed with eggs, lettuce, mayo, ketchup and hot sauce - alllllll mixed together. He's also eaten just pasta and mayo. I've legit gagged at some of his combinations.

It reminds me of Fritos pie. I love those so much.

I would still complain too, Sara, if he decided on something I didn't like or wouldn't eat!

I make walking tacos too, except I make it in a huge bowl.

Ain't nobody got time for 27 bags' worth of walking tacos.

At least he's cooking the food. If I'm asleep and FI gets hungry before I get up to make breakfast he eats raw eggs. Like just cracks an egg into a glass and does it as a shot.

I have had many gross hungover mornings as a result of this. I stumble into the kichen grab what I thought was last nights wine glass add a little wine and get a yummy egg white and Chardonnay mixture. I learned pretty quick to always grab a clean glass.

  • I will eat tacos every day of the week.

Out of, you know, taco shells.

  • *raises hand* I'm actually a fan of these creations.

Don't be the dude from Green Eggs and Ham... you might just like it! :)

  • Yep, walking tacos are a thing here, although more often with Frito's than Doritos. You always see them at fairs and concession stands.

It is kind of like a taco salad in the bag (light on the lettuce though) or crunched up tacos you can eat with a fork. They don't get soggy unless you let it sit for a long time or your taco meat is extra juicy. I crunch up doritos on my homemade taco salads for my crunch part too, and same deal with that. They don't get soggy before I am done eating.

Ugh. I just can't with that.

Hmmm...maybe I'll have to try it since everyone is saying it is an actual thing and that it is good. Maybe...

  • I hate Doritos.

So yeah, this would not work for me.

Am I the only one who doesn't find walking tacos disgusting?  I mean they are similar to nachos.  And I eat tacos kind of like walking tacos a lot.  Like I will put taco meat, cheese, lettuce and salsa layered on a plate and then use tortilla chips to scoop it up.  I guess I just don't see what is so disgusting about this.

ETA:  I mean if anything he should be making these tomorrow for taco tuesday.

Never heard of it with doritos, only fritos.  Although it sounds good with Doritos (like those Taco Bell Dorito tacos).  They sell them at concession stands here sometimes, I had one a few years ago for the first time in possibly ever....it was weird yet kinda good.

I think they are yummy too.

I use Doritos instead of plain tortilla chips about 50% of the time when I make nachos at home. As I said above, they go in my taco salads too. My friends couldn't eat tacos whole when they had braces and would break them up with a fork, so walking tacos always just seemed like another iteration of a delicious taco to me.

I think, for me, it is just the whole eating out of the bag thing that kind of grosses me out. I can see how it would be better on a plate. I just can't with soggy chips, but PPs have said they aren't soggy.
