    I don't live on the East Coast, but every time I have looked up airfare from the West Coast to the DR, it's been $700-$800pp. The flights are also red Then you add a hotel on top of that. Yeah, I'd be pissed.

    I understand wanting to have your VIPs present. However, it sounds like they knew well in advance the grandparents could not travel. So why in the fuck would you have a DW? Even if the grandparents got sick after the plans were made, at least tell your guests that your plans have changed, still have the DR event as a vow renewal, and let the guests decide if they want to spend all of their time and money on a non-wedding. I'd choke on my wine if I was at the reception and all of a sudden a video pops on showing them marrying before the event I just witnessed.
