Kukua Restaurant vs. Jellyfish Restaurant- Punta Cana

My fiancé and I are planning a wedding in Punta Cana for June 2016. Our whole party is staying at Paradisus Palma Real resort, but we have heard that most all-inclusive resorts have very cookie cutter weddings. Because of this we have been looking to do a wedding off-site at either Kukua Restaurant or Jellyfish restaurant which specializes in more personalized weddings. Does anyone have experience with either of these venues? Which is better? We are looking to spend about $25,000 on the wedding and want to know where our money will go the farthest. Thanks!

Re: Kukua Restaurant vs. Jellyfish Restaurant- Punta Cana

  • Hi,

I haven't been to either place but I have been doing a lot of research on Punta Cana weddings and plan to get married at the Palma Real next year.

Our photographer, Katya Nova has photographed a ton of weddings at both venues but more so at Jellyfish and it looks AMAZING.  She actually got married there herself.

I would suggest looking at her blog - http://www.katyanovablog.com/ - and looking at all the jellyfish/kukua weddings (that's how i chose my venue).  She also has an amazing blog post about all the venues in Punta Cana including those two.  Its the top link on the page

If you happen to book her, she is an incredible resource for wedding planning and would definitely be a huge asset to helping you decide/plan.

    Good luck and Congrats!
  • Hi,

My fiancé and I went to a wedding last year in Punta Cana. They had there wedding at the Jellyfish, and it was amazing! Everyone had a blast, and the location was beautiful! We didn't see the other location you mentioned so, I can not comment on it.

  • Thank you so much! After doing a bit of research we decided to go with Kukua Restaurant. We absolutely loved the photos of Jellyfish, but know the food and other wedding extras were a litte bit more expensive. We also heard wonderful things about the wedding coordinator, Bego, at Kukua so we hope she can make our wedding vision come true!
  • I would pick Kukua hands down! Bego is amazing! She does some of the most personal and imaginative decor and really goes out of her way to make your day more amazing than you could have imagined. She also has an amazing "get ready" bridal suite for you and your girls... which photographs beautifully! Not sure if youre looking for a photographer but we used GGG photography (they have a fb and an insta) we had two photographers (Georges was the main one) they were beyond. I never onc had to fear that a shot would be missed or that they would be "too wedding-ish". they're more than photographers, they are beyond personable and go beyond your expectations. you will not be disappointed. def book both Bego and Georges. and if you do please tell them Mayra sends her love all the way from Chicago!!!!! good luck and remember to enjoy EVERY moment
  • Thank you so much, Mayra and I will definitely tell Bego! We have decided to go with Karina Jensen photography because we loved how ethereal her photos looked, but we are still trying to find a good videographer! Any suggestions?
  • I can't recommend a videographer from that area, but if you want to bring an amazing one into punta Cana on a budget, try www.amazingweddingmovies.com They did our Aspen wedding movie and I would never hire anyone else now
