Finally Friday!

Re: Finally Friday!

  • @jenna8984 - Give me a few more days until I move in. ;) I already shared the realty photos once, but removed them so they couldn't get reverse searched. I'll take some of my own on move in day and share then.

Thanks ladies! It's so much easier to stay excited when everyone is excited for you. Otherwise, I'd be bored and lazy and just not looking forward to much today, haha.

  • @AlPacina - CONGRATS!!!!!

  • @Swazzle I think I need to try this Oreo coffee… Your weekend plans sound awesome!

@southernpeach89 So exciting about the hospital tour! Can’t wait to hear about it!

@Hummingbird125 That’s terrible! I would be so pissed! Have an extra glass of wine (or three) tonight!

@untouchablets I’m so jealous that you get to see TSwift again! I saw her once years ago when she was still performing as an opener – I’d love to see one of her newer tours!

@jenna8984 YAY for getting a better deal! Love when that happens.

@caseface5 Turkey taco Thursday sounds delicious. Now I’m craving tacos.

@lavenderfields13 Jealous of everyone getting together this weekend!!

@minskat30 Good luck with the home inspection! Also, T&P for your friend!!!

@jenjen047 January! So soon! And so exciting!!! We are looking at next August, which seems a LIFETIME away!

@speakeasy14 Callie is adorable!! Thanks for the tip on the coolatta J

@eilis1228 Bachelorette plans! So exciting! I also have zero motivation today!

@twodimes I just finished the book I was reading and was looking for a new one! I’ll keep The Weight of Silence in mind J Thanks!

@bethsmiles Working lunch is the WORST!

@AlPacina CONGRATS on becoming homeowners!!!!!!!! The whole process seems so daunting to me!

    -------------------------------------------------------

Holy cow there’s a lot of you, I apologize if I missed anyone!

FI and I are getting closer in the venue process, still just asking the event coordinator a million questions but all of her answers are perfect! Hopefully will be requesting a contract (I guess that’s what you do) by the end of the day, so that we can have until our hold is up on Wednesday to look it over and sign it! So exciting to (almost) have a date and a venue!!!

This weekend we are driving up to the Jersey shore to visit with some of my family that are here from CA. FI hasn’t met them yet and likely won’t get another chance until the wedding, so it should be a fun weekend!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

  • @TwoDimes - Sending you SO MANY VIBES!

  • @TwoDimes - Vibes!! I promise that whoever is there/not there will not take anything away from your wedding day. A few people who I really thought would be at our wedding weren't able to make it, and while it made me sad ahead of time, I was too busy having the best day of my life not think about anyone who couldn't be there! All the vibes that this person is able to figure it out though!

THIS is exactly what I was going to say. I had guests that I thought would definitely be at my wedding as well but unfortunately they weren't able to make it. It sucks that those important people will not be able to be there but the wedding day is a crazy fast fun blur and you are going to be SO happy the day of!

  • @eilis1228 yea California in general is expensive, and San Francisco is more expensive than any other area. However, there are a lot of surrounding communities that are cheaper (though still expensive compared to the rest of the country). Most employers in that area pay higher as well, so it could be possible. That's where FI and I have been looking at jobs/law school so I am familiar with the area.

    @AlPacina congratulations!

So this is going to be a post and run (or rather, bed), but I stayed home from work today. Possible TMI warning: My period is kicking my ass today and I ended up passing out behind the wheel on my way into work from blood loss. I was stopped at a light when it happened fortunately, and I came to shortly after it happened, but I immediately turned around and went home (I was only 5 minutes from home when it happened). Looks like my birth control isn't controlling the bleeding well anymore, so I will have to talk to a doctor about that. For now, I am going to take my strong "stop bleeding asap" medicine that I only use for situations like this because the side effects are nasty. Sometimes I really hate having a bleeding disorder.

  • @twodimes Lots of vibes, but like the others have said, try not to stress over it.

@aurorarose41 OMG, I'm glad you're ok and didn't get in an accident.  Definitely get lots of rest.

*edit -- I need to start proof reading my posts.

  • @AuroraRose41 OMG that is so scary! Glad you're Ok. Go get some rest!

  • @AuroraRose41 - OMG! I'm so glad you are okay, that's really scary!

  • @AuroraRose41 WOW so glad you are okay!!! Blood loss hasn't done that to me but I used to have to skip school because the cramps would leave me lightheaded and unable to stand. My BCPs have helped, I really hope you can sort it out with your doc!
  • @TwoDimes Sending all the vibes!

@AuroraRose41 OMG I am sooooo glad that you are OK! That is so scary! I hope your doctor can get that issue resolved ASAP. Wow! Also, re: SF-- Since FI is an EE, I think he'd be able to hit whatever salary he needs to make up the difference. I'm the one who would likely have a hard time finding something out there. I did look at Google listings today since I remembered you mentioned your FI sent his resume to them, but they don't list salary ranges on the listings, and Glassdoor didn't have many salaries listed for the positions I was looking at. I don't know that we'll end up moving at all, but we discussed it a lot while we were visiting a couple of weeks ago. Right now we're just exploring our different options. It's so hard to justify moving to such an expensive city though after living so cheaply in Texas.

  • @AuroraRose41 - I'm so sorry you have to take that terrible medication! Rest up and take care of you, lady! Hope you're feeling better soon.

  • Thank you all so much.

@untouchablets, unfortunately that's what happens with a bleeding disorder. I know what you mean about the cramps. I used to have to stay home too because I couldn't walk while I had cramps, and changing a pad every 30-40 minutes was almost impossible at school. That was before I was diagnosed and on birth control to control both of those. For whatever reason, my body doesn't seem to like this one and I had pretty bad cramps all through the night, and I woke up this morning with very heavy bleeding.

Definitely TMI but to give you an idea: I had to change an overnight maxi pad after wearing it for one hour this morning. It's one that normally you should be able to wear for 8+ hours.

@eilis1228 I thought your FI was an EE too, but my memory is a little foggy this morning and I didn't want to make a wrong statement. The positions that we were looking at for my FI on Glassdoor were in the $130k-160k range, but FI hasn't heard anything back. There were definitely some apartments for rent that with that salary I could go to law school full time and FI could support us, so that might be possible for you guys too (even if only temporarily while yo job hunt). But on the other side of that, I totally understand not wanting to live in such an expensive area. That's why we are considering moving back to Upstate NY currently. The salary would be lower but housing is also cheaper so it evens out. And we could afford a house sooner in NY even with a lower income, as houses out here are insane. Even the small run down ones here go for $500k.

And unfortunately in terms of this bleeding thing, it is a trial and error process :(. I was looking at a forum for others with this and they recommended a specific type of birth control that I haven't tried, so that will probably be my next one.

  • @AuroraRose41 The cost of living and the terrible drought in CA are our biggest concerns with relocating there. It doesn't seem to be a place we would want to live long-term, and I don't know that we want to move across the country with the intention of only staying for a few years. We just renewed our current lease through November of 2016, so I doubt we're going anywhere anytime soon.

I really hope that birth control helps!

  • @TwoDimes - ALL the vibes!

@aurorarose41 - Holy hell woman!  That sounds awful and I'm glad you are ok.
  • @twodimes all the vibes!

@eilis1228 that makes sense. The drought is also a huge concern of ours too, especially since FI and I don't believe others are doing enough. It's hard when even the towns won't let the grass and trees die. Most use recycled water but it gives the illusion that the drought really isn't that bad when everything is so green.

@minskat30 thanks. I'm finally starting to feel a little better, and I'm glad I didn't go in today. Definitely not worth getting into a car accident.

  • sorry i had to P&R yesterday....work has been really busy this week and they moved my desk to a new spot that is much less private than my old spot, which means i have to be more sneaky with my internet. gr. anyways...

@jenna8984 – looking to be in boston, ideally, but are open to further out. Send me anything you got! We are looking for a hotel since we have so many OOT guests.

@eilis1228 – I like the idea of a winter wedding and I don’t like the idea of wedding planning for a long time. Also since it’s very much the off season here, we are hoping to get good deals (for instance, one venue already lowered their minimum from 45k to 17k and waived $1,500 room rental fee).

@speakeasy14 – will check out the newton Marriott! Thanks!

@twodimes – thumbs up to vegas GTG!

  • @jenjen047 Holy crap that's a great deal on that one venue! Wow!

@AuroraRose41 Yeah, I know what you mean about seeing green things vs. seeing dead plants everywhere. In fact, all of the dead trees and grass in SF is what made me realize how bad the drought actually is. We hear about it in TX, but it's hard to visualize. All of the brown foliage really drove the point home.
