I am shopping right now because I peeked at my upcoming StitchFix and I'm 99.9% sure I'm going to be incredibly disappointed. I requested items for my South Africa trip (explaining that it's going to be chilly there and I'd like to start transitioning into fall anyway) and they definitely did not listen.

So, I'm going to get this jacket:

    And these booties:

And I'm torn between also getting them in cognac:

    Or in taupe:

I'm leaning more towards taupe because it's more "me" but I also don't have low cognac boots so maybe I should get those? I have mid-calve slouchy heeled cognac boots that I don't wear too often but I'm not sure if that's because of the style or the color. I can't make a decision! WAHHHHH

Any opinions on taupe vs cognac?

  • Are those pictures invisible?

  • @swazzle - I can't see your pictures :(

  • I can see them @swazzle.  I like taupe better and LOVE that jacket.

    Fixed?
Yup, I can see them now! I'm the odd man out I guess because I prefer the booties in cognac. The jacket could be cute, I'd have to see it on you.

ETA: Unrelated but I want to vent. I starving because I skipped breakfast this morning. My co-worker has a closing at 1 and another at 2. She said she wants to go to lunch first to make sure she's back in time for them fine. But then fucking go because I don't want to wait until 2 to take my damn lunch. She always does this and it drives me fucking insane. If you don't want to take lunch at 11 then don't tell me you want to go fucking first.

  • I love the taupe and that jacket!!!
    friends tv show funy
  • @swazzle I was confused because I thought SF was sending you that coat and boots. I was like "how is that not listening? How is that coat not exactly what you asked for?" hahahah airhead moment. Very cute, I love them!

  • I'm sorry I don't mean to be a judgeypants but I just have to say it. My friend had a baby girl today and named her...Memphis. I know it's not my kid and my opinion means nothing but I think that is the ugliest name ever.

  • @eilis1228 - OMG! sorry to hear about your coordinator! hopefully things are smooth from here on out! also your day sounds terrible. if i could, id fast forward to EOD for you.

@southernpeach89 - love the desserts list! so much better than stupid fruit.

@speakeasy14 - oh my gosh, what a scary thing to have happen to Callie!! glad you are both ok!

@swazzle - i love that jacket!! also the booties. i would buy all the colors.

i missed yesterday's thread so i have to recap my weekend here:

i got my eyelash extensions on Friday night. i love them!! i dont have to wear ANY makeup!! definitely doing them for the wedding. i also got into a big fight with my mom on Friday night, but it ended up fine. we both got out a lot of things we were keeping bottled up and a lot of underlying tension is now gone, so thats good.

Saturday i didn't do much and Sunday i was planning to research photographers but i just could not get motivated. Sunday night i had my aunts birthday party and somehow managed to get surprisingly drunk. oops.

last night FI and i officially ordered our wedding rings (our jeweler is going to wait until the tax free holiday in a few weeks to actually process the order though....it will end up saving us about $100!). then we met one of my BMs and her boyfriend for dinner. it was a fun night but i was exhausted so i started to get sleepy and we headed home early.

today i am just counting the minutes until i can go home. we HAVE to decide on a photographer this week and im hoping we can make some headway tonight. so far this is my least favorite wedding task.

i cant believe today marks one month since we were engaged. it feels like so much longer, but im also in awe of all we've gotten done in 1 month. venue is booked (all inclusive so that covers food, drink, cake, linens, etc.), DJ is booked, officiant is booked, rings are ordered, STDs are done, invitations are picked out, my dress is ordered. phew!!
  • @jenna8984 I don't understand the trend with city names for kids, but at least it isn't Airwrecka or La-A

I'm always super judgey of what people name their kids. I'd never say anything to them obviously but in my head, I judge.

ETA: My friend's sister named her kid cadmen. Every time she says it, it sounds like caveman. So that's what I call him.

  • @speakeasy14 Me neither, I'm not into the city names. One person I know named their kid Brooklyn because the father is originally from there. Eh, ok. Victoria Beckham named her kid Brooklyn because he was concieved there. Eh, ok. But as far as I know this friend of mine has no connection with Memphis lol. And it's a boy name if anything. (no offense to anyone, personal preference that I don't like gender bender names)

@jenna8984 and @speakeasy14 - I'm not into city name either. It seems to have been a trend for awhile though. I once had a swimming lesson class of 5 year olds with an Austin, Paris, Brooklyn, and Arizona (all girls).

  • @beanbot2002 DOUBLE DIGITS!!! OMG!! You're getting so close!
  • @Swazzle I missed the voting but I LOVE LOVE LOVE that jacket and I'd wear it everywhere. I'm torn between the cognac and taupe so I don't think you could've gone wrong either way!

    @beanbot2002 DOUBLE DIGITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @beanbot2002 omg double digits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@jenna8984 I don't like the cities used as name trends either.  I'm also super picky.

@beanbot2002 - DOUBLE DIGITS WOO HOO!!!!!!!

@jenna8984 - agree about city names. i am super judgey about names but of course keep it to myself. dont feel bad :) ETA: my cousin is a pediatrician and has a patient named Nosmo King (king is the middle name). yes.....they named their child "no smoking".

@bethsmiles - forgot to mention YAYYY for prices being lower than expected!!!!!!!
  • @beanbot2002 - Getting so close now!!

I agree on the name thing, guys.  Every time I hear a kid with a city name I think of the movie Medicine Man with Sean Connery (yes, I'm dating myself with that reference).  Quote below for your reading pleasure

“My name is Dr. Crane, Ray Crane…in case you need to address me directly.”
“I thought I’d just call you Brooklyn.”
    “I’m from the Bronx”
“Ah, the Bronx…it doesn’t quite roll off the tongue, does it.”

  • @jenjen047 Oh. My. that is horrible
    image
  • @minskat30 - except Ashlee Simpson named her son Bronx.....Bronx Mowgli to be exact. (why is that fact taking up space in my brain????)
  • @jenjen047 - Exactly...I wouldn't call Ashlee Simpson the brightest bulb on the porch either.  ;)
  • oh forgot to say @swazzle - congrats on your new commute! i take public transit and there have only been maybe 1-2 days so far that its been miserable because of rain. ive been doing it for 4 months only, so i havent had to deal with snow. but i actually prefer snow to rain. rain makes you wet....snow doesnt really.
