Wedding Recap and Withdrawal

Need opinions!!

My husband and I have only been married 43 days and i'm already thinking of how I can have a reception and on what anniversary. I thought 5 or 10 years, but my mom said I should do one. I could use the top tiers of our cake that we saved. I love this idea. The only reason I want to have this reception is because my whole wedding day was ruined with people and drama. I want to do it again with everything I want!! What should I do??

Re: Need opinions!!

  • I really only like these kinds of parties for major anniversaries, so I would disagree with your mom.  It sounds like you want a "do over," and I'm just not a big fan of that.

  • Have party if you want it. Though, I would say 5 years is better than 1.

<div>There's no such thing as a perfect day.  Ask any bride and you'll hear stories of drama, things going wrong, etc.  Just be happy that you are married and don't dwell on what could have been.  Have a kick-ass party for your fifth anniversary, but don't have a "do-over" wedding.  That's just wrong on so many levels.</div>
  • I say save it for 5 years or 10 not the first anniversary,i wanted to spend my first anniversary alone with my husband however i am suprising him with a destination vow renewal for our 5 year anniversary :)
  • I'm not such a fan of do overs.  Have a party if you want, but don't have another wedding.
  • I don't want a "do over". Just a reception/party type thing! But thank you all!
  • I know of a couple who got engaged, eloped, got pregnant, and renewed their vows all in less than a year!  That was seen as trashy to everyone and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.  However, you can definitely have a reception for your one year anniversary and it isn't tacky or trashy at all! You are celebrating your love and relationship, it's good that you want to honor that.
  • Hard one...  Have as many celebrations as you wish, just don't ask others to host or accept gifts.

    Another approach:

If you host an event around your anniversary, you don't have to announce anything about the significance of the date.  When everyone shows up, you can silence the crowd and say a few words to eachother that you've prepared and something to your guests about appreciating their continued support of your marriage.

I wouldn't use the cake that you have saved in your freezer. Usually they taste so nasty! :S I like the thought, but in reality, it wouldn't work so well.
