FRIDAY!

WE MADE IT!

I'm kind of surprised that CNN has been on in my office since 7am and they haven't mentioned 9/11 once. I work directly across from the World Trade Center site/the Freedom Tower and had so many feels when I looked over there on my way into my office this morning. I can't believe it's been 14 years, it seriously feels like it just happened. I sent my aunt a text when I woke up letting her know I was thinking about her (she worked/works for the company that lost the most people) because I know she really struggles to get through this day every year.

So, last night H picked me up at the train and we went straight to the gym and I did 40 whole minutes on the elliptical! I wanted to stop and go home approximately 938742 times but I stuck with it and felt so good about myself afterwards! We ordered sushi for dinner because it was late and I had a glass of wine while watching Big Brother and it was just a really good night :)

Tonight, will be similar to last night except I'm FINALLY having my crockpot salsa verde chicken tacos for dinner after the gym! I'll probably go to bed early with H because he has to work tomorrow.

In the morning, I'm considering going to Zumba. I've never tried it and I'd be going by myself. What say you NEY? I need to clean up my house and drop H off (he's going to DC for the Dolphins/Redskins game) and then my BFF is coming over in the late afternoon. I haven't seen her in a while and I'm so excited! We're going out for Mexican and then to the movies to see The Gift.

On Sunday, I'll take S to the train and then I have the whole day to myself. I'm hoping to get at least 30 minutes in at the gym, do some laundry, and clean my closet which is a complete disaster and then spend the rest of the day relaxing with the pup and kitters.

I'm really looking forward to this awesome weekend!

Re: FRIDAY!

  • @Swazzle - You should try Zumba!  I've tried it a couple times, but I was all over the place and decided not to embarrass myself any longer.  :)

I woke up with a sore throat this morning, BOO!  We had a cold front come through while I was driving to work... it dropped 10 degrees in 20 minutes and the wind was blowing me everywhere trying to walk inside.  I plan to do my run after work today.  I'll be off around 11:00 or so, and the high is only 78 so it'll be a great day for a run.

H and I are getting a late lunch at our favorite Mexican place and then dessert and COFFEE at our favorite bakery.  Can't wait!!  I've been looking forward to this all week long.  Then we get to do exciting stuff like grocery shopping.  I think tonight I'm going to work on the porch and plant fall flowers while H mows the yard.
  • HAPPY FRIDAY!

Last night I did my Blogilates workout. My butt and thighs are still sore from Wednesday's workout. It didn't seem like much while I was doing it but my body is not really used to exercise now! Then I made homemade mac and cheese and was really irrationally upset that I forgot to use shells instead penne. I watched Catfish and then read some more before going to bed. I'm reading Carrie right now. I've never read any Stephen King novels so I just decided that I'm going to read them all, starting from his first. It's weird reading it since Sissy Spacek doesn't look anything like the character in the book.

Today I plan on walking/jogging when I get home and then have an early night. H will be gone since he took today off to do a golf tournament with a lot of guys from work and him and a friend are getting a hotel for the night. I think it's kind of stupid since it's not that far away but he wants to be able to drink and I don't want to come pick him up so I'd rather him do that. I have an appointment in the morning to get my hair trimmed and then I'm getting a neck and shoulder massage. H should be home when I'm done with that stuff and we don't have any plans for the rest of the weekend.

  • @swazzle I did Zumba a few times when there was a fitness place across the street from my old job and I'd go with friends from work. I'm totally uncoordinated so I was all over the place. I've had no desire to do it since and I'm too self concious to go alone but it is a good workout!

  • @swazzle I loved Zumba when I did it. I can't dance to save my life but I burned a ton of calories, I say go for it!!!!

@caseface5 I have to clean tomorrow too, I HATE cleaning.

@cocobellaf H woke up with a sore throat too, probably because of the change of weather. We had 90* plus weather and this morning it was COLD!

It's a slow day today at work so I'm hanging out with you guys.

Tonight I'm going home and making BA calzones. I'll probably catch up on my DVR too.

Tomorrow I have to go to Firestone. I had two new tires installed and one keeps losing air so obviously something is wrong. So that'll take up most of my day. When I get home I'll clean the house and make another BA dinner. After that we'll probably go to H's friend's house to play cards.

Sunday we're cleaning out our basement since our town is doing free bulk trash pickup for the next two weeks. I want to start getting rid of stuff since H and I have made some pretty solid plans to move out of the northeast in the next couple of years so we want to start consolidating our stuff. I have boxes I still haven't unpacked since we moved three years ago. If I have time, I might put up some fall decorations.

I'm a little annoyed with the lack of 9/11 coverage today. It's been 14 years but it still feels like yesterday. I think it's crazy there has been little mention of it on the news.

  • @buddysmom80  Same here.  Had a big cold front come through after 90-100 degree weather this week.  Hoping it doesn't turn into a sinus infection!

I pulled out my fall coffee cup this morning...  It's so cute.

    @caseface5 - Have a great low-key weekend! I love weekends like that!

@CocoBellaF - I have become less and less coordinated as I've aged so I expect I'll be similar. I hope your sore throat doesn't last!

@minskat30 - I'm the worst at trying things by myself for the first time lol I get so nervous and anxious. I double checked the schedule and there's a beginner's Zumba on Sunday so I'm thinking I will try that instead and then next Saturday I won't be a true beginner anymore! The "try it" thing sounds like such a great way to try some new classes tomorrow without having to commit too much time in case you don't like it. I'd love it if my gym did that!

@jenna8984 - My H would totally say something like that and I'd reply: "yes, but I'm not going to cook it and we both know YOU'RE not going to cook it so..." Have a great time on your cruise! So glad it worked out!

@lavenderfields13 - I tried Blogilates a few times but it was soooo hard for me. I remember there was an alphabet workout where you sat on your butt with your legs up and had to draw the letters of the alphabet with your legs in the air. I wanted to die. I've only read one Stephen King book (11/22/63 - so good) and I'd like to start! Someone here (maybe @cu97tiger ) recommended The Stand so I might make that my next read after I finish what I'm on now.

@buddysmom80 - I want those calzones! I wish I could make H like mushrooms. STOP TALKING ABOUT MOVING. I WON'T ALLOW IT. Also, CNN still hadn't talked about 9/11 so we switched to one of the local channels and they're doing the moments of silence and reading the names.

    Edited to fix words

  • @buddysmom80 Thanks for reminding me I need to get my tires checked too this weekend! I got new tires about 3 years ago and they're supposed to have some kind of lifetime warranty. The pressure was always a little off and I ignored it but recently one tire is constantly losing air and I just haven't made the time to bring my car in because I know I'm going to be there all day.

  • @swazzle, I'm watching SportsCenter (running a touch late, but I've stayed late this week so it evens out), and they have mentioned 9/11 in the context of George W. Bush throwing out the first pitch of the third World Series game at Yankee Stadium ... six-ish weeks later. Local news is honoring the anniversary as well, especially people with local ties who died.
  • @Swazzle Yeah, some of the Blogilates stuff looks easy but it is actually really hard and sometimes I'm thinking a workout isn't doing much and then the next day I'm so sore! I like it because I can do it in my living room.

  • @jenna8984 - So excited you get to go on the cruise!!!

    @lavenderfields13 - What is Blogilates?

@buddysmom80 - Free bulk trash pickup is awesome.  I wish my town would do that, we have so much crap to throw out.

  • @swazzle - Nice job sticking to your workout last night! I've done Zumba before and I enjoyed it. It was a good way to get my heart rate up but still have some fun. It's not something I'd want to do all the time, but it's fun to mix in. Why aren't you coming to DC with your DH??? I'm not sure I recommended The Stand, but I do love Stephen King and that was the first book I ever ready by him.

@buddysmom80 - Where are you thinking of moving to?

I'm going to start another thread, but I'm always interested to hear where people were/what their day was like on 9/11.

Wednesday when I got home from work, DH informed me that there was a leak in our upstairs hallway ceiling. Two different a/c repair guys later, and the ceiling is still leaking. Oh, and I took my car in for an oil change and they need to do $800 worth of work to it. UGHHHH.

My new hire is starting on Monday, so I will basically be spending 24/7 with her at work and will probably be totally MIA from TK. Boo.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • @swazzle hahahah you're so right! When I want takeout it's not about the food but my lack of wanting to cook it. H will always say "oh I'll cook it" and then he spends the entire time- how small do you slice this? how many cups of this? what temp? how do I know if it's done? can you check this? And then it ends up me cooking the whole damn thing!

@lavenderfields13 I have a pilates video I got at Target years ago and I love that thing to death. I know it by heart, when Ana (the instructor) is going to laugh, what she's going to say, the inflection in which she says it lol. A lot of times I just do the moves on my own because it's quicker than listening to her explain it over and over again.

@buddysmom80 That is awesome that you're town is doing that! When I moved I had a basement of crap and had to spend $500 on a 1-800-got-junk truck to remove it all. Becuase even if we physically brought it all the dump ourselves they charge $50 per item!! So for the same price I got to just sit there while workers did all the lifting. Do you ever watch Tiny House Nation? That show inspires the shit out of me to pare down and get rid of stuff I never use.

  • @TwoDimes FREE FOOD!!!! Your office potluck sounds so delicious!!!

@cu97tiger I'm so sorry about your leak! That sucks! It also sucks you won't be around much! :(

  • @cu97tiger - I wasn't actually even invited! Which I realized last night when we were laying in bed lol. He's going with a couple of his "Dolfans" guy friends. As much as I'd love to see you, I'm looking forward to not having to travel this weekend!

@beachyone15 - Thank you for the encouragement! I found out that there's a Beginner's Zumba class on Sunday so I'm going to go to that so I feel a little more comfortable! I'll report back on Monday :) Watch shows were you catching up on on your DVR?

@labro - Those roses are stunning! Great job getting your run in this morning! You got this.

  • @swazzle Great job on your workout! I wish I felt that motivated. :(

BF didn't get off work until like 9:00 last night, but he wanted to stop by my house before he went home, so I cooked dinner then crashed when he left. I was exhausted.

Started my morning off with an ugly cry on the way to work listening to family members who had lost loved ones in 9/11. They replayed a lot of audio from the day it happened, and I'm PMSing, so my emotions are wild right now.

Tonight, I'll probably go to our local teacher store and see what else I need for my classroom. I can't seem to stop spending money on my students because there is so much we need for this group.

Saturday - Football day. I say I hate football, but I love that BF still wants me to come watch games with him. It's his favorite thing, so I can learn to love it.
  • @swazzle - I'm glad you are trying it. What I realized going is that even though you kind of feel self-conscious, NO ONE is looking at you. Every one is so focused on themselves getting the moves right or watching the instructor. Realizing that helped me get past my fear of feeling idiotic.

So many shows! We watched Buying and Selling, Million-dollar Listing LA, Project Runway, and Teen Mom 2. You can probably tell which shows are mine and which are H's, but he's a good sport and watches them with me. Actually, I think he secretly really likes them.

@labro - I love those roses! They are going to be beautiful!

@cocobellaf I need to see this fall mug. I don't own any seasonal mugs. I use a Union Jack flag mug at work because no one will steal it (some of my CW's thought it was a confederate flag.....) and at home I use the mugs that came with our dinnerware set. I'm not fancy at all.

@swazzle next time you're here I'll make you mushroom calzones!!!! I LOVE calzones, I'm a little annoyed BA is ricotta cheese only so I might add mozzarella too. Blame @hummingbird125 for getting me started on the move down south! Oh and my parents.

@minskat30 it's probably the best thing about our town. They used to have bulk pick up every week until I moved there. But at least we have dump passes we can use too so even if we don't get the basement and garage cleaned out within the next two weeks, we can do a dump haul.

@cu97tiger, @labrowe're looking at the Charlotte area as well. My parents are moving to Tennessee so it would be three hours from them (which is about the distance I am now from my parents). The property taxes up here are getting crazy, as well as everything else. If we stayed up here and my parents moved it would be $600 for us R/T to fly down there. I'm sure they'll be in TN a few years before us (their house is on the market now), so my plan is to fly to Charlotte, spend a few days there to check out the area and then fly from Charlotte to the airport near my parents. H is a little apprehensive since the cost of living is different down there. But I told him that he'll probably get paid as much as he is now and won't have to pay taxes as high as we do now.

  • @minskat30 Blogilates was created by fitness instructor Cassey Ho - she has a Blogilates YouTube channel where she puts up daily Playlists of workouts and a website with recipes, merchandise, etc. She has a lot of Pilates inspired workouts.

@cu97tiger Ughh that sucks about you car and your ceiling! When it rains it pours.

@beachyone15 I don't understand how a book can be scary either and I hate scary movies. H saw that I was reading Carrie and he was like "Oh wow, you're reading a horror book?". I definitely don't consider Carrie horror.

@TwoDimes Send some of the buffalo chicken dip my way! There used to be a girl who worked here that made the BEST buffalo chicken dip for all our parties and she's gone now :(

  • @labro Pretty roses! Are they easy to grow? I've heard that some types of roses are easy and they just grow and that some types are really finicky and take work.

    @twodimes mmmmm food!!

  • @buddysmom80 - It's similar to this one, but it has cream and white swirls in it instead of the dark ones.

  • @buddysmom80 EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@jenna8984 I guess we'll see? They didn't sound too picky in the description and I've read up a lot on proper pruning techniques which is usually your biggest care item with roses. The other ones I'm planting sound like they do really well in my region so I can't wait to try them out! The Creme de la Creme are my first experience with a climbing variety. These ones below are called Heritage and they are a regular shrub.

  • @labro - I love all those roses.  Please come landscape my yard (front and back) to make it beautiful.

@buddysmom80 - It's from 2009 and it's my favorite fall mug!  I am on the look out for a new one to add to my collection this year.  It's so cozy!
  • @CocoBellaF Sorry, I think my green thumb only works on my yard. ;) I've decided to build up our front island area into a rose garden and I can't wait to add more to it! My roses arrive next week so I'll be sure to AW.
