Whatcha doing?

DH is OOT.  I've successfully cleaned out the closet, vacuumed, dusted and cleaned the bathrooms.

Now I'm shopping for some clothes for my trip in 2 weeks.  Nothing like the last minute, but I realized I do not have any summer dresses and we are going to some dressier type-places.    Well I should say I have a few, but a lot of people I will be with saw them last year, so I should add 1 or 2 news ones to the mix.  Not an entire new wardrobe for 12 days.

Also contemplating running to the store for some wine.  Although I'm not sure drinking wine and online shopping would be a good idea.

What are you up to?  How was your weekend?

Re: Whatcha doing?

  • I'm procrastinating finishing my last assignment for the week.  It's not hard, but the video I have to watch is 1 hour long.  :(  I have a major presentation Tuesday, and I was supposed to have a paper due that day too (same class), but our Prof forgot and it's due next week now.  Whoop!!  I just can't bring myself to finish this last one.  I have to go to practice in 45 anyway, so I'll finish it tomorrow night.

    Where are you heading to??

First Tampa Bay for 2 nights.  Then off to Anguilla.  The people we are going to see in Tampa are coming to Anguilla too. DH is a featured chef at an event in the islands and they are coming to support him.    They are pretty wealthy.   Well, more then pretty.   They have about 10 restaurants they want to take us to in Tampa, I'm prepared for something on the high end side.

We will spend 6 nights in the islands.  4 dinners are part of the event.  Last year I thought I was only invited to 1 event and only brought 1 dress. (thought I was on my own for the other nights since DH would be working).

Well I was actually invited to all 4 dinners.   I wasn't dressed like a  bum, but I felt a little underdressed.  Although not as bad as another chef's wife who didn't know she was invited to the dinners too.

I'm looking for a few cute summer dresses to wear.

We will also have 1 dinner in Denver and 1 dinner in NYC area while traveling to-from here.   Nothing like different climates to have to pack for.

  • Sounds awesome though.  One of the perks of the job I suppose.  We're off to Vegas next weekend to meet a friends new wife.  I'm there for about 24 hours, but DH will spend the weekend.  Can't wait to get some sun and relaxation.  My goal is to do no homework there.

Sucks it's only 24 hours, but that sounds like fun.

If you have a consistent dress size at J. Crew, they are having a killer sale!  40% all final sale items.  About 2 months ago, my son told me his wife had her eye on a dress there.  It originally sold for $190, and I just picked it up for $45!

  • We just put away the laundry and are watching TV. My husband is home, so that's nice. He wants to be in charge of dinner and is making steaks, so I'm not complaining.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

My son and his girlfriend stopped in town on their way back from a wedding (total etiquette disaster that I've contemplated posting about). Since they left, I've chatted on Skype with an Italian friend (I've been studying Italian for a couple of years) and now binge watching movies.

  • Watching Grey's Anatomy (It's on netflix and I wanted to give it a shot!) and writing out my thank you notes for my shower AND also looking up on Yelp places to go on our upcoming trip.

  • H and I missed church. :( I was feeling fine, but he wasn't feeling too well so we didn't go. I wrote checks and mailed them off to pay two bills. We laid in bed for awhile. We took a drive. It was a beautiful fall day. Now we're getting ready for a hiking/hunting trip tomorrow.
  • Online shopping for summer dresses + wine...? I'm living vicariously through you right now! I remember your trip from last year, can't wait to hear about this one! A foodie's paradise in paradise!

I'm up with baby southern right now. He's up every 2-3 hours to nurse. But he knows the difference between day and night now so that's awesome!

  • I remember when my daughter had her days and nights mixed up! Not fun! Glad he has that straightened out. BTW that daughter was the bride that just got married so the time really does fly. Congratulations on the little one.
  • Mmmm... food and travel and shopping... fun fun!

This was our first weekend that we didn't have to train for a marathon. It resulted in us being up too early for a Saturday, cleaning the whole place by 10:30am, and puttering the rest of the day until it was an acceptable time to go out to dinner. Then we watched the Cubs lose to the Mets.

Sunday I volunteered at a leadership institute for high schoolers, which is so much fun. This organization I work with is trying to set up a mentoring program so I hope to do that too.

    Linda, your work-cation sounds awesome!

  • I'm working. ish.

Mostly, I'm sitting here daydreaming and wishing I was back on the beach in St. Kitts. I am tired, and I feel like I need another vacation.

Pretty awesome for me.  I get to hang at the pool/beach.  Get a massage or 2 and eat some amazing foods from 3-star Michelin chefs and drink some great wine.

DH has to "work", but it's not really work for him.  It's his passion.  He gets to cook with his BFF and with the Michelin star French chefs.   Last year they had a blast back in the kitchen.

12 club members are coming with us.  Not really bad, but it does mean I have to entertain them a little. I guess there are worse things than having entertaining guests while drinking great wine and eating amazing foods.

    How will I cope?

      ::sigh::

  • ELECTION NIGHT!!!!  Looking good in Atlantic Canada so far to finally get rid of Harper.  Need to get some homework done too, again, but the results are already starting to come in.

So new this year, they started releasing results from the East before the polls out here closed.  Not crazy about this, as BC will see the maritime results about 3 hours before their polls close.  Could change some minds out there

  • I'm annoyed.   I have to pick up DH from the airport.  1 hour away.   Eagles vs Giants on now.

Our car is in the shop (dog sitter crashed the car) and we have loaner.   So I can't even listen on the radio.

    Boo.
