Trying Tuesday

Re: Trying Tuesday

  • @labro I hate complaining about gifts, especially when I know how much thought his parents put into it.  His mom noticed I was wearing them the other night and was so excited. I'll probably end up switching to a different pair tonight.

I second @cocobellaf I'm short and wear maxi skirts and dresses all the time! I love them. They're my go to lazy day but still want to look cute outfits.

  • @beachyone15 Glad you guys had a great trip, happy anniversary! My parents live in Ohio near Cincinnati and my brother lives in Columbus now. They moved their about 10 years ago for my mom's job.

That is awful and so scary @wink0erin. I wouldn't know what to do. I think all you can do is give her support like you have been doing. Ugh, I couldn't imagine :(

  • @speakeasy14 Yeah, that's the worst part. I don't wear a necklace my MIL gave me often because it's super long, but I do make an effort to wear it when I'm around her because I know how happy it makes her. And I do like the necklace, it just doesn't go with a lot of my outfits. What do your earrings look like?

  • @speakeasy14 Oh I love them!!!! Have you ever tried the trick of coating the posts and any other parts touching your ear in clear nail polish? It wears off over time and needs to be re-applied but it might help?

  • @labro I haven't heard that trick, but I've heard of the vaseline trick.  Usually gold doesn't bother me.  I think I'm either getting used to the pain or it is getting better because my ear isn't bothering me anymore.  Just going to leave my hair down in case it is swollen haha

  • @beachyone15 those photos are beautiful, I can't even imagine how it looked in person!

    @wink0erin your poor friend :(

@CocoBellaF high five to short people! I'm 5'1" Warmer months I've worn capris with heels. I feel so much taller!

Not much last night. Course and came home. Irked at Matt for lack of doing dishes. Guh ... he's promised to do all of them tonight. I despise his procrastination and he knows it. Some days he's fine and when he says "later" it's like a coin flip on if it happens. Granted ... he is getting better.

Tonight we're doing groceries. It's 2 days early but there's some good deals I wanna catch before the flyer runs out.

Tomorrow is BIL 21st bday and they're doing late dinner. I have my course but I'm apparently going after. Sorry but 9pm is fucking late to eat and I am exhausted after my course. Far too much brain power :(

    Really loving my look today.
Purple dress pants, black suede knee high boots {with mini heel}, grey with black lace tshirt and black blazer.
I'll try to snap a shot later.
  • @labro and @eilis1228 I may have to try this nail polish trick.  My bf called his mom and she said I may have them on too tight, so loosened the backing a little bit.  She also said because they're flat that dirt can easily get trapped, so going to do a salt water flush.

@jenna8984 sounds like the new house was the perfect decision!  I savor my extremely hot showers too.

@twodimes that is really frustrating.  I've always wondered how they are able to do things like the census with apartment buildings like that.

@eilis1228 You are so ready for this weekend! And all your vendors sound awesome to work with.

@500days that is annoying, but that makes you an awesome teacher for going in early to help a student.

  • I'm sorry...no time for personals at the moment.  I just got back from the vet specialist for Rajah.  The specialist is 99% certain that Raj's left knee has a partial tear (his right knee might also have a tear but isn't as bad as the left).  Since Raj is so big and Raj's tibal slope is so drastic (normal dog is about 20-25%, Raj is closer to 40%), the tear will eventually progress to a full tear at which point the leg will be lame.  Only option is surgery to stabilize the knee...they have to cut bone and everything (a TPLO).  I'm just heartbroken for Raj.  I hate to put him in pain from surgery but he's in pain now too and a full tear will be even worse.  We will put him on anti-inflammatory meds and pain meds for now while we think through our surgery options but TPLO seems like the only real option for Raj given his size.  Recovery is 6-8 weeks for each knee (vet is hopeful we can put off surgery on the right knee but Raj will eventually need that one done too).  I'm a mess.
  • @swazzle - You are a freakin champion! I remember when I got through reading Les Miserables, it felt amazing. It took me 6 months though, haha. But I'm sure that book is much less interesting than The Stand.

@labro - Well hey, I'll take not coughing as a good sign, even if it is irritating that the vet didn't get a good feel for what your pup is going through.

@lavenderfields13 - That's so great you get to see your family! How far away do they live?

@jenjen047 - I've loved every dress I've gotten from H&M, but you have to accept the fact that it's not going to last too long. Right now I really like this one.

@wink0erin - You could definitely call the hotline yourself and get advice from them on how to help your friend. A few other tips though: Reassure her that none of the abuse was her fault. If you end up in another conversation where you're letting her know how concerned you are, name specific instances that made you the most concerned. But after all that is said, you have to respect her choice and just let her know you're there for her 100%. Being non-judgmental is the hardest part. It is great that you are encouraging her to seek extra help, though.

Last night I made BA burgers for dinner, then did puzzles on my iPad and watched Enemy at the Gates. I don't believe Jude Law as a soldier character. He's just too pretty, and not rough-tough-manly enough. I was in bed before 9. Like @CocoBellaF, I have no regrets.

    I am also boring.

  • @minskat30 Ohh poor Raj!!! And poor you! I'm sending you tons of support and Raj all the healing and feel better vibes I can! :( I'd say it's worth it though. Surgery sucks.

  • @minskat30 - I do not blame you at all for being a mess! I know we were all hoping for a better outcome for poor Raj. Now we'll just have to hope for a complication-free surgery and a quick recovery. It's all going to be alright, lady. It's good this was caught before it ended up being a complete tear. I am sending you the hugest of hugs right now! *HUGS*

  • @minskat30 - Big hugs! Poor Raj! I hope the surgery is quick and as painless as possible with a super speedy recovery <3

  • @minskat30 I'm so sorry for Raj! Hopefully everything works out.

  • @minskat30 Poor Raj! I hope the surgery helps him out and doesn't cause too much pain with recovery.

@AlPacina Thank you, I've considered calling the hotline to get advice on how to help her. I've kept my personal judgments to the side with him whenever they are together, but any time I hear about something he has done to her (emotionally or physically) I point out to her that is not acceptable behavior and she does NOT deserve that kind of treatment. I have told her that I have not liked him at all since a situation a couple years ago, but I have wanted to support her with her decisions and I will always be there for her. I point out that I have been in a similar situation and I share incidents that I dealt with, which she has said helps her. She's asked me how I dealt with things and all that. I just hope this time she stays away.

Random sidenote, I clicked a link for an article earlier that sounded interesting and my work computer blocked it with the reasoning "Matrimonial." Uhm, ok? Sports and Social Media are blocked and anything "pornographic" (which could just mean foul language is used on the website) but this is a first. I guess I SHOULD be working, but I was taking a break from numbers to read some stuff!

@mskittydanger 9pm is way too late for dinner on a Wednesday in my opinion. I like to be in bed at that time!

@jenna8984 I can't believe you've been in your new house for 2 months already! Yeah, Ohio is random. The company that bought out my mom's company is based in Cinci though so that's the reason. They offered her a job there and it was the best decision for them financially. @alpacina They're about a 2.5 hour flight away if I get a direct flight which I usually can't afford. This time I can though so I jumped on it!

@minskat30 Oh no, I'm so sorry you're going through this right now especially with the trip to India too. Poor Raj, I'd be a mess too.

  • Thank you, ladies.  Its a day I'm grateful for an office with a door I can close to cry.  Stupid to cry but I hate for Raj to be in pain.  Surgery complications are limited to infection mostly and the good news is that once the knee is fixed it is usually fixed for life.  We'll likely schedule the first knee surgery for December.  I have insurance for Raj but I have no idea if they will cover this or try to back out of it somehow even if it is covered.  I'll tackle insurance calling tomorrow.  I wish I was home with the monster (H is but I have to work).  I'm hoping to get my stuff done today and head home early.
  • @minskat30 - I'm so sorry to hear this news. I hope everything goes well and Raj can recover quickly!

  • @lavenderfields13 Typically I'm in bed by 9:30pm, but the nights of my course it ends up being like 10pm ... still, i am home and in my pjs!
  • @minskat30 Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about Raj's knee! Poor guy. :( I'm sending him all the healing vibes!

  • @minskat30 - Poor Raj!!!  Bella and Baxter send healing cuddles.
  • Hi everyone!
@minskat30 sorry about Raj :( you're a good dog mom!! what kind of insurance do you have for him? Also, you should let your breeder know what's going on since it may be a genetic issue and could affect other dogs from their lines.

@wink0erin omg that's such a tough situation. Maybe now that she finally feels like she can open up about it things will not be so bad.

Well guys I did it, my two weeks notice has been submitted and I will finally be free after next Sunday! It went well, my boss was understanding and she didn't act weird. My coworkers on the other hand, are as bitchy as ever and treating this like it's the next juicy gossip.
  • @untouchablets - We have Trupanion.  I've had it for Raj since he was a puppy so they should cover some of this surgery hopefully.  I hate dealing with insurance companies though...they always back out of paying.  I'll be posting a review for them if they pay or don't pay though...we've never had to use the insurance before.  H and I are fully on the same page that we'll do whatever it takes for Raj even if it isn't covered though.
  • @untouchablets I'm glad your boss was understanding! And screw the coworkers.

  • Oh! @minskat30 I am so sorry to hear he has to have surgery! Poor puppers! Give him lots of extra snuggles from all of us!

  • @minskat30 extra hugs for Raj :( Surgery sucks but did vet say this is a guarantee fix?
  • I just watched this...  incredible!  Watch if you're a Disney fan.
