  • I'm working today but I leave in an hour. Still it doesn't make today feel any better...it's still Monday so therefore it sucks!

    How was your weekend?

I spent most of the day Saturday cleaning. Then we got a surprise babysitting night with Callie. I was super excited and I think she was too....until Mom and Dad left....and then apparently I was the worst person ever and she wanted nothing to do with me. She screamed for an hour and a half before I finally waved the white flag of surrender and called @southernpeach89.  I am definitely not cut out for this parenting thing.

On Sunday I finally finally finally got a new phone! I'm not one of those...get a new phone every other month....or even every year. I've had an LG G2 for the last two years and for the past three months I've been dealing with a portion of the screen no longer sensing touch. It wasn't cracked or broken and I didn't drop it....it just suddenly appeared and steadily got worse. So H and I finally went to T*Mobile yesterday and I got a new Samsung phone. I'm such an old lady though...I can't stand touch screens in general. I really miss my old Droid4 that had the sliding QWERTY keypad. I could type like a fiend on that thing!! I'd even take my old Blackberry back....and it would almost be worthwhile since Android is actually starting to release some apps for it.

That evening we had dinner with my mom and dad and @southernpeach89 came and brought Callie and she was in a much happier mood!! I even got a whole bunch of smiles out of her!

Today H has the day off. He's smoking 15 something lbs of pork shoulder on the grill and it's gonna be soooooooooooo good when it's all done this evening! I can't wait!

  • @speakeasy14 Wow....and she's shocked that her ex MIL won't acknowledge her? Ugh people!

Are you close to your BF's BIL's FI? That's so exciting!!! Will the wedding be in Texas or more local to you?

  • @labro which phone did you get? And oh no, hopefully Callie starts enjoying hanging out with you soon!  My niece Charlotte was fussy on Friday too.  Poor thing has a horrible case of eczema and hadn't slept in two days.  I let her play with my phone and that seemed to stop the crying.

  • @speakeasy14 Glasses of wine help me release my filter too haha. Your friend sounds like she is having a rough time with things.

  • @southernpeach89 @speakeasy14 Glasses of wine DEFINITELY release my filter....like at the holiday party I went to and proceeded to go on a political rant....ughhhhhhhhhh. It's especially embarrassing when you're a die-hard liberal in a Trump lovin' state.

  • @labro I have the Galaxy 5, I think it took me a week of playing for me to get used to it.  Before they left for Texas the four of us were really close and would go on sibling outings all the time.  We've always treated each other like sisters.  They're actually getting married in upstate NY.  The wedding is the day before my birthday, so we're planning on staying up through the whole weekend.  My aunt and uncle have a rental property near there, so I'm going to see if we can stay there after the wedding so we can visit my grandma, and most likely @GoldenPenguin too.

@southernpeach89 I don't know if it's a rough time or if she just thinks that divorce isn't a big deal.  And haha I barely have a filter to begin with, so really any alcohol makes it disappear.

  • @speakeasy14 That sounds amazing!! What part of upstate NY?? H and I went to a wedding Canadian NY this summer (basically on the banks of the St. Lawrence River) and then we spent a weekend in the Finger Lakes while we were there and I also got to visit @GoldenPenguin of course as part of my roadtrip so I feel like I actually know the region...ish...now!

  • @speakeasy14 - I love that you don't have filters! But you are seriously the best for already booking the spa!

@labro - Pork shoulder sounds orgasmic right now. . . maybe because I'm starving.

    ----------------

I'm not at work today, but the dog woke me up around our regular time, so I'm a bit sleepy. My weekend so far has only been okay. I had a great trip visiting my sister up near Seattle. We did a ton of wine tastings, and then we cuddled up and watched Pride and Prejudice because she had never seen it. The Packers AND Hawks lost, so I'm bummed that I won't care about either team in the Superbowl. Today my plan is reading and rock band.

  • @AlPacina Well the first half of your weekend sounds more than ok! What version of Pride and Prejudice did you watch with your sister?

@labro - The Kiera Knightley version. I like the cast the best for that one. Plus the piano scores are so gorgeous!

    @TwoDimes - It's cool. Don't say hi to me. Whatever. ETA: Don't pretend I wasn't an afterthought! ;)

  • Morning!!

@speakeasy14 that sounds like a great bachelorette party :)

@labro your dinner sounds delish and yay new phone!! I use to have a Samsung Galaxy 4 and other than the connector issue, I had zero issues.

So Friday was such a bust but I decided to treat myself. I opted to take the long route home from a different office and stopped by the mall to go to Lush.
I picked up "Unicorn Horn" bubble bar and "Frozen" bath bomb so I could relax.

Since I had extra cash, I swung by Nordstrom's e-bar for Honey Almond Latte. I wish all stores made them, so delish! I was entirely grateful I wasn't wedding planning while going past there because they had this little candies kiosk right beside the e-bar that would have been so cute at the wedding!

Anyways .... hour and half to get home because of that but I regret nothing. I had a great bath lol

Saturday we had errands to do. Drop off electronic recycling, swing by my mum's and pick up cat crunchy. Got lazy and ended up going out for dinner.

Sunday was lazy and did not much. Cleaned up some stuff and I've decided to not grab locker stuff until we get back from our trip because there's not enough space in our apartment until I clear out other stuff.

At some point this week we're going to have a mortgage specialist to go over pre-approval process and all that fun stuff.
  • @TwoDimes Sounds like a fun weekend with your FIL!! I hope you get to babysit soon too! Callie is actually a really awesome baby, but she's definitely in the stage right now where only Mom can really please her and you're in for a tough time if you're not mom. Plus she was pretty tired Saturday when they dropped her off. You'd think being tired means they are going to sleep...but no...it never means that. ;) How is your nephew? I bet he's growing so quickly right now!

@AlPacina um wine and snuggling with your sister sounds awesome!

@labro wedding is in Lake George, I don't remember the place exactly, but it is right on the water.

@MissKittyDanger lush is the best, yet most dangerous place ever!

@twodimes I hope you get nephew snuggles soon! That does sound like a nice weekend with your FIL.  I got lectured last night by my bf's mom about how I need to clean my house and invite her over for dinner.  As much as I hate living in a construction zone, I may never clean my house.

  • Hey!! I'm at work, got in 2 hours late because I had to get the inspection sticker on my new car. And I have 100 emails to catch up uuugh.

This weekend I did exactly 0 of the things I said I was going to do. Saturday morning was supposed to be brunch with BFF but the roads were too icy. Saturday night was supposed to swing my the grand opening of my tattoo artist's new shop but I just literally got too lazy and never went. Sunday I was supposed to have lunch with a friend but I puked my brains out so I wasn't up for that. So yea, didn't leave my house once LOL.

@labro we are so the same people when it comes to cell phones. H had to literally pry my old keyboard dumb phone from my hands and buy me a smart phone just 2 years ago because I didn't want one. It was being really slow and freezing for the last 3 months so I finally let him get my upgrade to a new Samsung. Well, a week later his phone wouldn't work and he's like "oh I'll just use your old one til I can get it fixed". Then he's like "holy shit, this thing is a piece of shit, it's so slow and like barely works". And I'm like yeaaaaa how many times do I have to tell you that I don't replace something unless it's absolutely necessary?!

@twodimes Aw I feel the same way with my nieces, I only see them about once every 4 months because my bro and his wife suck ass. Yay for getting rid of that car back to his dad!

@misskittydanger ah your trip is so soon, exciting! I wish my bathtub was large enough, I never take a bath because it's just so small, and I'm only 5'3. I love staying at hotels with huge tubs.

NEY Opinion Poll? We're going to Asheville in a few months for a trip and looking at staying at one of these places! These are my top three!!

    Lovely Hummingbird Cabin
    High, Higher than a Kite!
    Downtown Digs

Oh and this one because...emu. Need I say more?
Island in the sky....with an emu!!

  • @TwoDimes It can't be said enough. Your MIL is a real piece of work. You guys are awesome! Don't ever let her make you feel not good enough because you are!

@jenna8984 Lazy weekends are totally cool!

  • Morning! I'm doing course prep because I have to take off most of Friday for SIL's wedding. H is probably doing some sort of housework thing.
  • @labro hmmm well the 4th obviously.  I like the one that is near a brewery out of the other three, but the others have hot tubs. So really, I'm useless because all 4 are good choices hahaha
    image
  • @speakeasy14 Yeah it's tough because we want something convenient to the town and all the stuff (breweries, restaurants, etc.) but also something kind of secluded so the dogs have room to roam, and so we can just hang out some days and grill, play board games, hike, stuff like that. I like the third one because it's so close and we wouldn't have to drive and worry about having a DD every night.

I second this. And at least we can share crazy mother stories together.

  • @labro dammit those links won't load on my work comp. Are you going to see Biltmore? I hear it's awesome

@jenna8984 Yeah. I've been a couple of times before but H and the other couple have never been. We're actually mostly going to visit the new Sierra Nevada brewery more than we are the Biltmore or anything else out there lol.

ETA How weird the links won't work! When I click on them in my gmail they work for me....but I am having the same issue with clicking on them through TK. Let me mess with them a little.

So I was planning to make a payment today to pay off the remainder of my car loan. It would be about $1800. I have the money sitting in a savings account and I was planning to pay off my car since we just bought a car for H, and I wanted to only have one car payment at a time. BUT. I just got an email from Travelzoo advertising a 6 night vacation at an AI resort in Cozumel, including flights from Chicago, leaving THIS SATURDAY for $799/person.

Hmmm. To make the adult choice, or not to make the adult choice.......
Oh God....do you have the vacation time? Can you get care arranged for Indy? Will your office even care?

I can't be an adult right now. Sorry.

    @TwoDimes vacation!!!

*add* hahaha @labro is the good influence and I'm the bad. True friendship right there

    image
  • @twodimes I also hate to be a bad influence but this is the way I look at life- if I'm in a car accident next week and I'm on my death bed, am I going to want to be lying there thinking about the amazing time I had in Japan, and the time I partied in Greece, or am I going to be lying there thinking gee I'm glad my car is paid off.

Don't get me wrong, bills and responsibilities come first but when it comes down to the "extra", fun is going to be so much more fulfilling!! #YOLO :)
