@speakeasy14 Totally O/T question but I'm thinking of you since you and your BF do SO MUCH home improvement stuff. Do you know anything about siding? I'm starting some research processes because we really ought to replace the siding on our house. We have hardboard and it's pretty old and definitely failing in places/getting eaten. I'm trying to decide what we want to replace it with.

@minskat30 love the new updates to the bathroom! My bathroom is slightly slanted in the shower and it so annoying to clean the water that collects in the corner. I can hardly tell in your pics though!

@labro I will still have like 25k miles leftover if I do first class. That's like 2 one ways to DC from BOS...so I may very well splurge! But I don't know if I'm just being ridiculous lol I know some people hoard them but they will eventually expire...

@500days - I upgraded to first once...I got to the airport and was having a crappy day and it cost $50 to upgrade so I did it.  It was fun to try once (and my day did improve significantly after a couple of glasses of free wine), but I'm with @labro - depending on how many points you'd have leftover, it might not be worth it to upgrade this time.

@twodimes & @minskat30 you just have to stay on the side of the stairs closer to the wall.  The klutz has only fallen up the stairs twice since moving in.  One time I was racing Cal and she knocked me over, so that really doesn't count

@labro we haven't touched any of the exterior so I'm not much help with siding. For all the interior stuff, we did a lot of research on home renovation forums and youtube tutorials, so you may have better luck there.

@speakeasy14 Yeah...I told H that if he wants me to keep loving him, that we won't be redoing the siding ourselves. I'm cool with DIYing a lot of stuff....but not that. I really just want to professionally hire someone because we probably need to replace some faschia board too due to carpenter bees, and who knows what else will also pop up when the siding is torn off. What forums did you look at? I've never come across any...at the moment though I've only ever researched yard specific questions though so that's probably why!

@500days I think it's a mix of those coming in Thursday and those coming in Friday, so you can't go wrong with either.

I am so fucking cranky, you guys. I wish I had just turned around and went home when my car started shaking instead of finding out it was as simple as some ice in the wheels. 

The only thing making this day bearable is planning the menu for my girl's weekend in 4 days which will include: pulled pork, @labro 's mac and cheese, guac, pickle dip, bloody marys, Yuengling, cupcakes, and pork roll.

@500days - Yeah!!!!!  So excited.  I've done first class once or twice.  It is worth it on longer flights but on anything less than 3 hours I don't think it is worth it in my opinion.  So, so happy you are coming though!  I would opt for Thursday night vs Friday morning (because Friday is usually a busier travel day and then you get a FULL extra day in Chicago with some of us...I'll be at a conference during the day (booo) that day).  I was thinking about fun things for everyone to do this weekend.  Hopefully next weekend I can put together a list of potential ideas on activities!!!  

@MissKittyDanger - I can't wait to see The Revenant. We were supposed to go this weekend but ran out of time.

@cu97tiger - Your backyard looks like a winter wonderland!! 

@beachyone15 - I was all "how are you painting your deck?!?" in this weather until I remembered that it isn't a frozen wasteland everywhere.    Congrats on getting that done!

@swazzle -That food sounds amazing.  Why are you cranky?  Everything ok at work?

Total AWish moment.  A really nice lady at work who just had a baby brought me a BOAT load of her maternity clothes.  I mean, seriously, there are like 4 skirts, 4 work pants, 4 jeans, 2 dresses, 2 khaki type pants, etc.  She is bringing the shirts tomorrow.  I'm so grateful, I could cry.  I have no maternity clothes and honestly my non-maternity wear is getting a little dubious.  Yeah for trying clothes on tonight!  I hope some of them fit...she is a shortie like me but I most certainly have more hips/butt that she does.

@speakeasy14 LOL at Callie burying her head in the snow! What a goob. Have fun at your ski lessons! Just remember to pizza wedge to stop, and you'll be fine. No shame in pizza wedging the whole way down lol

@minskat30 1. WTF do those plumbers not want any work?! Why would none of them give you a quote ASAP?! I'm so frustrated for you. Ugh. 2. YOUR BATHROOM IS BEAUTIFUL! I don't notice any slanting or unevenness in the pic, but I know pics can be deceiving. That being said, you guys did an amazing job in that bathroom. It looks 300% better, and I can't wait to see what you guys do with the main bathroom. Wow. 3. You are so pretty!

I spent my weekend on the couch reading and watching Netflix. I'm feeling better today, but my voice is still fading in and out thanks to congestion. Oh well. I finished reading Orphan Train, and I absolutely loved it. It was SO good! I highly recommend it to everyone here. 

H and I managed to fit in some adulting this weekend too. We finally closed our accounts at Wells Fargo, and the bank gave us a cashiers check with all our monies. When we tried to deposit the check at UPS (which is where USAA lets people do physical banking), we learned that their systems are down... so I'm very nervously carrying a large check around in my purse. :-\ I'll try again today at lunch. 

I didn't watch any of the football games this weekend, but I'm excited that the Broncos are in the Superbowl. I went to high school with Von Miller, so it's pretty cool to see a classmate achieve so much. 

On Friday I got a call from the vet with Zoey's DNA results. The vet tech was laughing and kept saying, "You will never believe what she is!" Turns out she's an American Staffordshire Terrier (aka pit bull) and chihuahua mix, purebred on both sides. They estimate she'll be between 22 and 38 lbs, but I'm pretty sure she'll be on the small end of that. She was really cuddly this weekend since she could tell I was sick, so I nicknamed her my little menace to society. She's so vicious:


H and I keep joking that we have a fancy teacup pittie. 

Tonight I'm going to hang out with @audrewuh and work on a quilt. Should be a lot of fun! Otherwise, Monday is blah.

Also, exciting but ridiculous event: H has a phone interview scheduled on Thursday! It's for a job he applied to back in July... wtf.

Also another AWish moment....  I got an email from a lady I was trying to help.  She saw some of my posts on zika in a different forum (a pregnancy forum) and messaged me for advice/help (she had a non-refundable babymoon scheduled in the Caribbean like I did).  I gave her my two cents on zika, my doctor's two cents on zika and the step-by-step on how I got our money refunded for an otherwise non-refundable trip...she wasn't getting anywhere getting her money back.  She got inspiration from my steps/negotiation tactics and tried again and finally got her money back!!!  I did my good deed for the month.

I'm jealous of your GTG with @audrewuh and all your quilt making together time.  Zoey is such a cutie...I just imagine her hanging out with you guys while you are quilting.  Also, how the hell did it take that long for the company to schedule an interview with your H?!?  Good luck to him nonetheless!!

@minskat30 Zoey's actually at doggie day camp today. We take her there every Monday because it wears her out for most of the week while simultaneously socializing her. It's helped A LOT with her shyness. It's helpful too because I can go to @audrewuh's house on Mondays without worrying about going home to let Zoey out and without forcing @audrewuh to come to my place every week. As for H's interview, I have no idea what happened there. He logged into his account to check the status of the jobs he applied for last year, and a couple are still listed as open. Why post a job if you don't plan to hire for almost a year?! Makes no sense.

We replaced a few boards that were rotting, sanded, and painted the first coat weeks ago. So it's nice to get the second coat done! I know it's very blue, but once we get a pretty outdoor rug and some pillows for our patio furniture I think it'll look great!

She still looks like a Jack Russell to me. Since we can't have pitties in the apartment and I don't think she can really pass as a chihuahua, I'm going to keep claiming she's a Jack Russell mix. The leasing office doesn't do a DNA test, so whatevs. We also Googled the accuracy of those tests, and apparently the more purebred your dog is, the more accurate they are. Since she's purebred on both sides, the results should be pretty accurate. Crazy!

@labro - Thanks! The mold on the concrete also really bothers me. I have no idea how to remove it though besides a pressure-washer. But then I'm worried that'll ruin the new paint. We probably should have done that first...blah.

@beachyone15 You may be able to do a pressure washer on a lower setting versus what you'd normally use to clean concrete? Otherwise yeah, it'll definitely ruin the paint and you'd have to redo it.

@labro - I also heard you can scrub it off with a dishsoap/water mixture and then bleach/water. Not sure if that will work though. I guess we'll just have to try it.

@eilis1228 I still see Jack Russell mix, something with a long tail (jacks are born with stubby ones!). Those DNA tests are neat but I would take them with a grain of salt. They're not very accurate, considering dog and wolf DNA are the same anyway. It'll be easier to guess when she's an adult, but you'll never know for sure. She's super cute!

@labro I had a 90lb rottie mix as a kid who mated with the neighbors dachshund mix... I don't want to know the logistics involved but her puppies were adorable!

Count me in on the cranky train! I JUST got my computer up and running. When I got to work this morning it just would not turn on. IT finally got it working so here I am!

@Swazzle I would be ragey too if my morning was like yours. Hope it turns around!

@500days Which flight home did you book? Same as mine?

This weekend was okay. Friday night we went to a wake that BF's mom made him go to. He hates wakes and he didn't really know the man who passed (it was his uncle's brother). She just kept pressuring him into uncomfortable conversations and was an all around pest. After that we went to dinner and headed home. 

I woke up Saturday at 3am and got sick to my stomach for over 2 hours. It was so bad it woke BF up. I'm not sure if it was food related, because BF had all the same food and didn't get sick. He had gas, but I was SICK. So Saturday I layed around all morning and then we ran some errands and went out to dinner with my cousin and her kids. The snow wasn't too bad, but the wind was and the drive sucked. We only got about 10 inches.

Yesterday we got up and shoveled. BF's mom and uncle came over to watch the game. It was disappointing. After they left, we cleaned up and then BF's friend came over to watch wrestling until 11. I've been trying to get to bed by 10 every night so last night was a little tough.

This morning Tessie did not want me to get up. She just wanted to snuggle so it was hard to get moving. I wish I was home snuggling her!! 



With being sick over the weekend I fell off the Zumba train and didn't eat as well as I should have. Tonight I hope to get back on the right track and keep plowing forward!

@caseface5 Ughhhh I'm sorry you were so sick this weekend!! Cinders probably looks that way because her butt was cold while I made her sit in the snow for a picture! It's the only way! She moves too much otherwise!
