What's your wtf moment today/this week?

Am I missing something? Are children prone to melting in the rain? I just want someone to tell me why I sat in a fucking line of cars for 30 fucking minutes over 2 miles before I even reached the elementary school on my commute today.

@labro - WTF...I think it is the crossing guards...they take FOR-EV-ER.  

My WTF today is weight gain.  I know it is good for baby but baby is going through one HELL of a growth spurt or something.  I gained 3lb this week, in addition to the 2lb last week and the 2lb the week before.  I was dieting before I got KU but I'm obviously not doing that anymore.  I'm still monitoring (roughly) calories so I think I need to track it just a little better...I'm snacking on high-calorie things like peanut butter and those calories probably really add up.  I'll talk to my doctor about it at the next appointment in two weeks if it keeps up at this rate.

I don't have a WTF at the moment, but give it time.  

I went to the check-up yesterday.  Everything went well.  You could hear lots of movement on the doppler, so the nurse told me that I have a very busy baby in there.  H doesn't go with me to these check-ups because it would be an hour drive for him to leave work and get to the office, so I just go by myself.  Well, yesterday, my OB teased me by offering to look for the sex right then!  I had to say no because H wasn't there and he would have been devastated, but it was so tempting.  AH!!

ETA:  Oh, and I stopped by our favorite Mexican place near the appointment yesterday.  I got myself the enchiladas I've been craving for months.  I ate them, sat up for an hour to make sure I wouldn't encourage heartburn, and then went to bed.  I got up for a little bit but started getting sick, so back to bed.  IT WAS SO WORTH IT.

WTF from yesterday:
I went into my meeting yesterday and when it came the time for me to ask for more money, I was interrupted, and lied to, and not allowed to finish my point. The Superintendent basically said that the number that was in the contract was the amount that was voted on for this fiscal year (LIE, it's next year's amount) and that now isn't a good time to visit it (LIE, our current conditions say that we have to ask for anything that affects next year's budget in February) and I have to come back and re-visit it with the next Superintendent in Aug/Sept. I felt so deflated coming out of that meeting. My face was beat red, because that wasn't easy for me to do and the fact that I was blown off didn't help. I think I will talk to the new Supt about it when he starts in March. UGHHHHHHH

WTF from today:
I also got an email this morning that our couch is here and I need to schedule a delivery in the next 10 days. Living room still isn't done, so no clue how we are going to get it done in time.

My WTF moment is that I have the flu. Not a stomach bug or a cold...but the actual honest to God flu. I want to die. Currently running a fever between 100-104 and my entire body feels like it was hit by a Mac truck. I WFH Monday and took a sick day yesterday. Today I am going to try to WFH but we will see. I always feel really guilty/paranoid about being sick. I'm afraid people are upset or think I am faking. I even texted my boss a picture of my thermometer as proof.

H has been around to take care of me but there isn't much he can do except get me fruit (the only thing I want to eat) and make sure I have a cold Gatorade next to me at all times.

I guess I should be thankful this came now instead of 2 weeks ago during our wedding. It's also given me time to research our honeymoon....so I guess there's a silver lining?

@labro - Ugh I hate driving near schools. Such a PITA.

@minskat30 - Definitely discuss with your doctor to make sure you are gaining the right amount of weight, but as long as you're in the healthy range don't sweat it! You are growing a human FFS!

@caseface5 - That meeting was bullshit, I'm so sorry for you. HUGS. Could you meet again and bring proof about the things he lied about?

@cocobellaf - Ahhh you have so much self control! When is your next appt and will you find out the sex then?

@minskat30 I know it's so hard but try to not to focus so much on the scale! @southernpeach89 gained a lot of weight during her pregnancy too and she's lost nearly all of it now! Some women just gain a lot of weight during pregnancy and some don't. The important thing is your blood pressure...as long as your blood pressure is staying level, you're ok!

@CocoBellaF Yay! I'm glad your appointment went well! Just think...in a few more weeks you'll start to feel all those little kicks and flutters!

@caseface5 Ugh....I really hope your dealings with the new Sup. in the fall go better than what you have to deal with now....this sounds just awful!

@jenjen047 Ughhhhh I am so sorry you have the flu! You really should just try to take another sick day if you have the time. WFH won't help you get better faster! I hate that feeling of guilt too but your health is important!

@jenjen047 I could meet again, but honestly it's not worth it. The current Supt is delirious so I am just better off waiting until the new one starts.

@CocoBellaF Glad your appt. went well! That must have been so tempting! Can't wait until both you and your H find out what you're having!

@labro - I know. We have a daily huddle at 9:30 so I'm going to try to figure out what the most important tasks are and see if I can knock those out. It's really bad timing because my partner left on Friday, so starting Monday I am the lead on both my accounts. We have 2 junior people from other teams stepping in to help here and there, but they aren't really familiar with things and I am supposed to be helping them.

@cocobellaf good job resisting the pressure to look yesterday! That appointment will come so quick, mine is March 7th!

@caseface5 uuuuugh I'm sorry your meeting sucked ass, hope there's some way you can bring it back up now and not wait til next year.

@minskat30 I'm definitely feeling larger than I thought I would at this stage. I don't have a scale at my house and I think I'll keep it that way lol

We're getting our taxes done tonight. I always did my own but now that I'm married and H's aunt is a CPA who does his for free that extends to us as a couple now so sure why not!

Very excited. My friend and old coworker from Phoenix has been traveling the world living all over Europe for the last 2 years. And she just happens to be going to Phx this weekend for a baby shower. And I'll be there for the wedding! Ah, excited to see her!!

@labro - I hear you.  I think some of this HAS to be water weight too so I'm trying not to let it bug me too much...even if I'm eating 500 calories more than I should a day, that is only 1lb...not 3!  I told H today I may need a break from the scale.  I'm going to more closely monitor calories over the next two weeks so I have a base-line for my doctor but after that and if she says I'm fine, I'm going to stop weighing in every week for my own mental well being.

@jenjen047 - Oh my goodness!  Take care of yourself and don't worry about work.  Hugs.

@caseface5 - That meeting is crap.  Can you follow up with an email stating your points?  Didn't everyone else get a higher raise than you?  I would start documenting this crap so they don't think they can run all over you. 

@CocoBellaF - Your restraint is amazing...I might have told the doctor to tell me the sex without H.  Kidding of course but MAN how tempting!  I'm glad baby is a little wiggle worm in there!

My WTF is also rain-related, @LaBro! IT'S. JUST. RAIN. The traffic lady on the radio was like "you're going to see some slow moving traffic this morning because of the weather out there.' WEATHER? IT'S FUCKING RAINING. JUST FUCKING DRIVE. (Is what I then screamed in my car.)

@jenjen047 - The flu SUCKSSSSS. I had it a few years ago, and swore I would never not get another flu shot as long as I lived. And ever since then, whenever someone is like "oh, I puked, I must have the flu" I'm like "NO YOU DON'T." Real influenza is AWFUL. I really hope you feel better soon. Get all the rest you can!! 

@caseface5 - Do you have to do anything other than paint in the living room? It'll be way easier to get that done without worrying about getting it on your new couch! You can get it done in 10 days! I believe in you!!  

@CocoBellaF - I commend your willpower to not see what you're having!! I'm also really glad you enjoyed your enchiladas

Stupid weather. It was freezing rain last night and now it's raining so roads were slick.
Roads are fine now because it's pretty mild out and they salted, but the sidewalks are bad still

My WTF moment is why can't drivers pay attention when they drive on the side by the sidewalk? There's massive puddles and thanks but I showered last night. Didn't require another one. *sigh*

Otherwise .... not much else. I have a crap ton stuff to print out later

My WTF is to my appetite - why am I constantly hungry??? I had half a granola bar and a full protein shake and I'm looking around for what I can shove down my throat next. Luckily, I'm at work, so it's at least a little bit harder to find something than it is at home.

@GoldenPenguin It never ceases to amaze me how formerly reasonable drivers suddenly turn into lunatics in the rain. Like....figure it out people!!!

@minskat30 I have to document it all. My mom suggested writing an email too. Everyone else in the office got a 5% raise and I got 1.5%. It's just frustrating because I process the payroll so I have to process all these retros. I also create the basis for the budget so I know the numbers, so to be told that this was already in place and they can't "come up with money from nowhere" when I know that they are doing just that for everyone, including my 1.5% is just crap.

I think the main reason I am so peeved is that I wasn't even heard. I had every intention of going in and if I was told "sorry we can't do that right now" I was going to ask if there was anything I could do to help and I wasn't even given the opportunity.

My WTF was yesterday at work. I was teaching a class and towards the end I was chatting the the dog dad and he points across the dog training area and yells "Mouse! Mouse!" And then his adorable little dog goes over to freaking sniff it while I'm scrambling to catch her! Then, later during a different class, I was wrapping things up and suddenly this massive German shepherd puppy yanks his owner across the floor while she's screaming about a mouse. What a nightmare!!

Document, document, document.  Write it down while it is still fresh and have conversations or follow-ups to conversations via email.  I wouldn't let them get away with this crap.  I'd also schedule another meeting via an email to my boss saying "I understand we are all busy right now but I need 15 minutes of your time to discuss a few items you indicated we didn't have time for in our last meeting.  I put something on your schedule for [X], if that doesn't work please reschedule the meeting for a time that works on my calendar in the next two weeks. Thanks."  Then come with your documentation on how everyone else is getting a raise and you would like to know why you are being singled out.  Did you have a bad performance review do you know?  Are other people more assertive in your office for raises?  Just curious on your work dynamic.

@labro both our high school and elementary school are on a very busy main road that I do down when I go to and from work and I ALWAYS get stuck on the line. There's actually a sign from the police department to parents not to drop their kids off in the street!

@caseface5 I really hope you get this raise thing sorted out because that it just not fair.

@minskat30 I gained a lot of weight in my pregnancy, definitely more than what the doctors recommended for a healthy weight gain but they never said one thing about it. My blood pressure remained at a very healthy level and that was all they cared about. I would get weighed constantly and be disappointed to see those numbers go up but as long as Callie was healthy and I was healthy...that's all that mattered. The lbs will drop off after you have the baby. I'm thinking a lot of it is definitely water weight. I left the hospital 20 lbs lighter and since then I've lost 20 more lbs. I'm currently 6 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight and I promise breast feeding was 100% the reason for all of that weight loss.

OK I have the biggest WTF of my life and I can't talk about it with anyone who knows her so I have to spill it here!!!

So my good friend lived with H & I before we were married, she was our officiant, so very close friend. Out of the blue in December she dumps her boyfriend of 3 years- we were all like WTF because he is a GREAT guy. She said he's too "grumpy" all the time. She neglects to notice that she quit her job 6 months ago and he's "grumpy" because he works 3 jobs to not only support them but also buy her anything her heart desires. She was 100% unappreciative of him and he wasn't even resentful at all. He was ring shopping despite that, he just loves her that much.

So my H has been like the rock for the ex-boyfriend, hanging out with him a lot and trying to help him through it. Because of that, she has pulled back from me thinking that I'm like on "their" side. I have texted her several times that I'm not involved with their friendship and she's my friend first, and I support whatever makes her happy.

Last night H came home from seeing him and was like um have you talked to her lately? And I said no. And he said oh...I shouldn't tell you then, she can tell you. And of course I'm like no way dude, tell me what's up!! He says well she's not only been secretly dating "ted" (guy from high school who just served 8 years in prison!) but she's pregnant. And it's definitely Ted's because ex hasn't been with her in 5 months. I'm losing my mind over here right now!!!!!!! She had everything she could have ever wanted with the ex and now she's unemployed, no health insurance, no money, no education, car repo-ed, dating an ex-con AND she has never wanted children. She had a rough childhood, her mom was an addict who committed suicide, so she has always said she had no interest in ever having kids and fucking them up like her mom did to her.

so yea, that's that.......I have absolutely no idea how this is going to play out!

@minskat30 My last performance review was June of 2014 and it was very positive. I had a copy of it with me as a point to say that I have excelled every goal that was agreed upon. We are all the same, there are four of us. None of us even knew we would be getting raises at all. We were all covered under what our district refers to as "working conditions." The Supt decided that her last act before she leaves is to change that and put us all on individual contracts. The new Supt coming in doesn't understand why she is doing this because he wouldn't have done it, but she is still the Supt under February 29th so she can do whatever she wants.

@jenna8984 Wow....that is seriously messed up! I wonder if your friend is depressed or has something else going on internally. This sounds like such a HUGE change for her....compared to who she was before this all started to happen.

@labro it's so weird because it seems like the opposite. When she was telling me about the breakup she was all happy like "I'm going to explore, and find my own happiness, and not depend on him" and she was like all about being happy so I have no idea what she's thinking.

Before I forget.. I kept trying to post this yesterday.  @jenna8984 if you're flying with your grandparents, let security know.   When we flew with my bf's 89 year old grandmother, he asked security if there was a way we could go through faster since she couldn't stand that long.  They let us go through the VIP security so we didn't have to take off shoes or wait in a long line.  The plane also let us board first. 

@minskat30 don't beat yourself up.  You're going to gain weight like crazy.  My sister has been eating fairly healthy and she is up I think 20lbs and still has two months to go. As long as you stay active throughout your pregnancy, you'll be fine afterwords. 

@caseface5 ugh that is frustrating.  I agree, document everything.

My wtf is... holy hell I am sore.  That is all.  My update is in my Vermont AW.
