@jenna8984 - Yes and no.  I don't need to train anyone per se since all the lawyers on my team are supposed to do the same kind of work (large financial investments from cradle to grave).  If we get a big bankruptcy case in though I may have to help out with training while on maternity leave since I'm the most experienced with that particular sector of deal work.  Knock on wood, that hasn't happened yet while I've been here.

Good morning. Last night H and I went to the gym and had a healthy dinner of baked lemon pepper fish, fresh green beans, and fruit. I felt good (but exhausted last night) and when I woke up this morning I was STARVING. I always forget how hungry I get the day after a good workout. It's still raining here which sucks because it's basically doubled my commute time to work. I'm over it. Tonight we are hitting the gym again and eating chicken + some kind of green veggie. Exciting stuff.

@swazzle - You are so awesome! You should feel really proud of yourself. Funny that your H left all of those veggies. My H would love them. Actually, he's the one who's always saying, "All we should be having for dinner is a big bowl of broccoli". Umm....no.
@southernpeach89 - Who doesn't love new baby smell?
@CocoBellaF - I hate it when H is home and I'm not! Tell that burrito to stay down, lol.
@minskat30 - 3rd tri already?! That was fast!
@speakeasy14 - That closet set-up is awesome! That's what I want too. We have those cheap wire-lined shelves where anything that sits on top gets lopsided because there's no hard, flat surface. I agree with keeping it open or the curtain idea!
@MissKittyDanger - Oh no! I hope your mom starts feeling better soon.


Random thoughts:

-I miss you guys! I've been busy at work so I've only been able to check in once a day lately. Things are slowing down so hopefully I'll be around more today.

-I keep getting compliments on my new short haircut which is making me feel really good!

-My closet is in need of some new things, but I'm torn because I'm trying to lose weight and don't want to waste money on something that might not fit in a few months.

-I would kill for a bean and cheese taco right now.

@minskat30 - That is a very pretty greige!!

This is the bedding we're going with.  My mom found the fabrics and ordered them, so we're going to make the bedding instead of paying $400 for it.  We're doing the walls in Biscuit from SW and doing the big gold dots on the crib accent wall.

We're going to do less pink accents and more of the minty green.

@TwoDimes - about once a year, Baxter will randomly destroy something.  Either chew a small hole in the carpet, or chew on something random.  Sometimes I'll catch him just carrying around stuff (my high heels, a cardboard box or tube, etc.)  Dogs are WEIRD.

@twodimes sorry Indy destroyed your not-loved pillow! I don't think we've had any incidents in a while... I do remember one time when my roommate's dog was still a puppy that both the pup and other dog escaped the kitchen (which we have gated off from the living room) and I walked in to what looked like the aftermath of a high school party. They got into EVERYTHING!! It was mostly ripped up paper (and all of it was my roommate's stuff) but it was a mess I had to clean and I was not pleased lol

Last night my group of puppy kindergartners graduated! I handed out diplomas, superlatives, and we played some games and then I was super surprised when everyone in the class expressed interest in taking the next level class. I was really happy about that because it means that I'm doing a good job

Random thoughts:
-I really want to do something OUTSIDE today! It's super nice out but I can't think of anything to do, besides take my dog out.
-I should probably clean out my closet and get it ready to switch out my seasonal clothes.
-I am kinda hoping Coraline can stay comfortable in her crate for a little while longer. she is getting too tall for it but she has plenty of room to stretch out still, and I just don't want to spend money on a new crate right now.
- I'm intensely jealous about the Chicago get together you guys!!

@beachyone15 - I LOVE veggies, there's not one that I dislike. H is usually not like that so I don't know what his deal was. He said there were too many brussels sprouts (ok but what about the rest?!). You should get yourself a new top to hold you over for a bit  Great job with working out! 

@CocoBellaF - Oh my goodness, those nursery ideas are so perfect! I love everything so much!

@TwoDimes well at least it was a pillow you didn't particularly care for... Callie used to destroy anything that had stuffing in it. Hopefully it was just a fluke and not a new favorite game for Indy.

@MissKittyDanger healing vibes for your mom.  A bunch of my coworkers had/have pneumonia.  They're saying it's really bad this year.

Thanks, @Swazzle!!  The nursery is mainly for me.  I tried to do things that aren't "baby" and will grow with her for a while.  And since she won't even notice the room for a long time, I am just picking out things that make me happy.  I'll spend a lot of time in that room, so I'm making it my dream woman-cave.  Ha!

@cocobellaf - THAT.IS.ADORABLE!!!!  I love that you are crafty enough to make your own bedding!  I'm seriously in love with all of your ideas.  I have zero ideas for our nursery other than a semi-Indian/elephant/Moroccan theme, which is going to translate into white, greys, blues, some purples, elephants and a plush rug.  Poor Ani doesn't have a very creative Mom.

@minskat30 - I'll be honest, a lot of it is my mom.  Since I've been feeling so yucky, I picked out the bedding and she did all of the research and found patterns and volunteered to make it all.  We'll do the same with curtains, too.  I saved all the Pinterest ideas, except the Chinese lanterns.  That was hers and I love it.  I think your nursery will be just as cute!!!  I love the elephant bedding and little rocker you picked out.  We'll probably have a slight motif of birds in Kennedy's, only because I have birds all over the house and I know that I won't be able to keep them out of her room.  You can see that 2 of the pins have birds in them already!!

I know!! As I was going to bed, the thought crossed my mind that maybe I should point out the open door to H and remind him that he needs to watch Indy closely if she goes in there, but I literally thought to myself, "H has walked by that open door like 10 times tonight. It's pretty obvious that, hey, that door that's normally closed is open!!" Lesson learned. Things that are obvious to me are not obvious to H! Haha

Join the club, sister.  I'm apparently the keeper of all things in our house (even when H moves the stuff) and the pointer out of all things obvious.  Most days I help H out when I see him looking for stuff...I'll ask what he is looking for and 99.99% of the time it is usually right in front of him. Some days I just scratch my head though that he managed to survive all of these years without me pointing these things out.  He must have wasted so much time looking for crap before he met me....I mean I think I added at least a year of time to his life already.

@cocobellaf That palette is awesome!!! Love it all! You (and your mom) are smart to save money on the bedding. A few friends told me do NOT get a $400 bedding set. They can't even use half the items (like bumpers and comforters) until they are much older, and they will just get puked on. So I was told only pick out a few plain sheets and a few plain throw blankets for a fraction of the cost and then switch it out whenever you want. Makes sense! I really want to do something like your closet picture.

This.  After I saw your elephant rocking "horse," I looked them up online and decided I'm going to get one to keep at my house so I have an elephant for me for whenever my nieces and nephews come over haha

@minskat30 @Swazzle I go through the same thing with my H. Sometimes I honestly don't know how he would function or what he would eat if he hadn't been with me all these years. I rely on him for a lot too though so I try to remember that lol.

This is totally me.....but with movies. H hates watching movies with me because I always ask the question before it's answered. I'll be like "but how did he find her?!" and then 28 seconds later in the movie he will reveal how he found her. LOL. I get FOMO that I missed an important part!

@TwoDimes Indy, wtf? Cinders tinkled in the house at some point yesterday and we have no idea why or when. She and I were actually outside together for the majority of the day so it must have happened when she came in to eat. I don't know. It really frustrates me since we're about to get new carpet. This kind of thing isn't allowed to happen!

@Swazzle Wtf with your husband....I am so disappointed in him.

Yesterday we met with an arborist about taking down a few more trees and doing some maintenance work on our large oaks. His quote ended up coming up to just under $2k which isn't AWFUL but ugh....at least it will be worth it in the end. I also got lectured by him because last year we put down a bunch of landscape fabric in the backyard before putting mulch on top of it and apparently that really cuts off the water supply for the trees so I need to cut some of it back. Luckily the fabric only affects two trees so it won't be a TON of work....but argh! I feel terrible now. It's probably partially our fault that we had a very small tree die last summer and it was possibly related to the landscape fabric.

Tonight a friend is coming over for dinner! Hopefully the weather holds and we can eat out on the back porch. It's beautiful today but I think there's a chance for rain later. I'm making spinach stuffed shells noms!

Sometimes I want to start talking with H about having a baby but then the thought of that conversation terrifies me. Also, I like having money.

I heard yesterday from our neighbor that the house that's under contract has been having trouble with their buyer getting an approved loan so now I'm nervous about our decision to go on the market and I'm really worried about the cheap carpet we picked out.

I cannot stand our other neighbor's dog. I wish he would just shut the fuck up.

I want to plan something gorgeous for the front garden area once we get the trees taken out and I'm having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that we should quit putting a ton of effort into projects like that if we're going to sell.

Thankfully he has a sense of humor about it and I definitely have my moments when he's like "REALLY??" So we laugh about it a lot.

RE: H's who can't find anything-- It's the opposite in my household. I constantly feel like a chicken with its head cut off. I can never find anything. I'm notorious for losing my phone somewhere in the house. H finds everything for me almost instantly. It's ridiculous. 

@TwoDimes My H and your H must have the same idea of what it means to supervise a dog. H just lets her wander around, whereas I keep her in my line of sight at all times. I do not understand how supervise = let them run around and do their own thing while you're in the other room. Grrrrrr!

@CocoBellaF I LOVE THE NURSERY! Oh my gosh, everything is so cute! That's so great that your mom is going to make everything too! I can't wait to see pics of everything once it's finished.

@Swazzle H has done the same thing before with veggies, but he hates veggies. He usually opts for cereal too. He buys those giant off-brand bags of Coco Crispies or Fruity Pebbles and eats them in lieu of veggies. He is 5.

Zoey graduated from Intermediate Training last night, which was super cute. I'm not sure when we'll do the Advanced Training--- the trainer we've been using said she will only do a Saturday class in April, but Saturdays don't work for us. We'll keep an eye out and look at other options in different stores.

I'm WFH today, and at some point I need to go to the gym and then to the butcher shop to pick up all the meat we ordered. We feel so Texan. Ordering a ton of meat to fill our chest freezer... 'MURICA!  In addition to the freezer pack I ordered, I also requested some picanha. It's our favorite part of going to a Brazilian steakhouse, but it's not a standard cut in the US, so you can't buy it in most stores. We found a recipe to sous vide it, so we're really excited to try it out. For those curious, it's this meat spear at a Brazilian steakhouse:


I get to see @cu97tiger tomorrow! I can't wait!

H said it's likely he's working late tonight, so I have no idea what to do for dinner. Boo.
