I am not a fan of classic rock, and my dad was mostly into heavy metal so I can't even ask him for a recommendation, so I need help in picking a father/daughter dance song! We also don't have a very close relationship, I see him once every few months, so I don't want to use anything to mushy/cheesy either. Any suggestions?
Re: Contemporary Father/Daughter Songs?
Not sure if any of them are helpful, but it had a pretty good range of different music.
I'm picking a favorite song my dad used to sing to me when I was little. It's not all that "father-daughter"-ish conventionally, but it is a song we both love and will be meaningful for us.
Good luck!
I liked that it was more about a parent's hopes for their child than about thanking the parent. My dad's a great guy, but not particularly fatherly so I found all of the "you're such a great parent" songs overkill.
There are also a few artists who will do covers of various genres. For example, Paul Anka does a fair number of pop and rock covers in a big band jazz style. The Piano Guys (look them up on Youtube) do instrumental covers of many pop songs.
