I use these two things every day, but on weekends or when I put actual effort in my regime, I'll add some maybeline mascara.   But only if I'm going for that extra fancy look.

thanks for smile briter.  I need to try that!

  • I like smilebriter because it takes away those surface stains from me drinking tea and red wine, and doesn't make my teeth sensitive.

  • This is my favorite, but I don't swear by it.  It does leave me with the impression that my skin is luminous, though, which at the very least is good for my body-image.

I use the Neutrogena hydroboost products pretty regularly, but I'm not sold on their efficacy.  I don't think they really moisturize as advertised.  It feels great for about 20 minutes, and then I feel like my skin is back to its normal dryness.  I love this for the fine lines around my eyes:

  • I was looking for a teeth whiteneing product too!  Thanks!

I am obsessed with Erase Paste by Benefit.  Dark eye circles are hereditary in my family and this helps that without looking like a raccoon.  I buy it one shade lighter.

My other go to product right now is either Jergens or Aveeno extra healing lotion.  It's what my tattoo artist recommends and my surgeon.  I figure why spend money on a fancy lotion when this is the product recommended by professionals for when your skin is under repair.

  • I love Peter Thomas Roth skincare products. I use a lot of the masks (sometimes 2-3 in a day and do a mini facial.) I've also been using a lot of Julep nail polishes. Some of their products have been underwhelming (don't use this one: http://www.julep.com/nail/treatments/freedom-polymer-topcoat-1.html) but the nail polishes have been pretty good quality.
Also, blue lipstick -  Midnight Blue by Makeup Forever.

  • I'm pretty boring in the beauty product department.  I used Dove bar soap for Sensitive Skin and even then, I don't usually wash my face with it, just my ears and neck.  At night I use Pond's face wipes to remove my makeup and that's it.

I guess my big go to item is from Physicians formula and its a yellow tinted foundation to help hide my under eye circles.  I used to use a cream underneath my eyes for that, but found out that it is most likely due to my PCOS that I have dark circles.  So I stopped trying to fix them and just starting hiding them!  I use it only under my eyes, then I use my Covergirl liquid powder stuff that I praise since they came out with it.  Then I finish my daily look with whatever mascara I happen to buy.  I'm not a brand loyalist for mascara, just want something that is water resistant.

Does rough and bumpy skin work well?? I've been wanting to get it for my chicken skin on my upper arms

  • Ponds lotion for overnight cream. Apparently I'm a sucker for an mom, but right now my skin care is a norwex cloth and Olay lotion. I use lemongrass spa bb creme, their mascara, and their natural deodorant. I wonder if the new skin care is making people comment on colors looking good on me.

i need to try the teeth whitener
  • CG, that's why I bought it. I have KP on my arms and I have seen some improvement. I would say about 50%. It does make it smoother and less noticeable.

I"m addicted to these glosses and colors:

I have the Top purple, the top blue and the bottom black.  And I love them.  And they are awesome.  And I would wear them everywhere if I could.  They were $7 at Ulta and I want to go back and buy them all.  I do have to wear a lip liner with them, b/c they're thick.  I just use a nude liner and they're perfect for any thing not professional.

I have adult acne so I use the Clinique acne line, no moisturizer.  I use their repairwear eye cream for the fine lines around my eyes.

I use the Maybelline eyeliner pots that reviews as well as Mac and it way cheaper, but not with their provided crappy brush.  I have an eyeliner brush from Sephora that I love.  I just bought K the Elf version to try and experiment with.  The angle is the same, but the brush is not as nice, so we'll see.

I like the ELF primer to competes with Smashbox and I use the Milano blush called Luminoso that competes with NARS Orgasm.  It took me a bit to get used to the blush color b/c it's a bit brighter than I was used to, but I like it.  It works for both me and my mother and we both have very different coloring.

  • @VarunaTT  love NYX! :)

    Excuse my fancy ass .... but these are my faves lately {pretty much my top 3 repurchases}

    {not plugging my youtube channel, but I did do a video reviewing the Benefit Big Easy if anyone wants link I can pm you! Note - best used on oily skin}
  • Very nice v.

This is post reminds me that I am so lost in the makeup world. I need m2 to get a little older so she can teach me the ways.

She's not too young. Wolverine can ID lipstick by colors. her favorite is Unicorn Blood by Jeffree Star

  • I am obsessed with this right now:

    Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer

The last time I saw my brother, he was so shiny!  I wanted to slip him some, but I felt kind of weird about it.  But it has changed my life.

  • @Heffalump, Elf has a version of this one that reviews as well as Smashbox and (of course) is significantly cheaper (going down to one income but a real damper in my Sephora trips, as you can tell).  I haven't personally used it, but makeup reviewers seem very happy with it.
  • @*Barbie* take a look at NYX for that colour, or look for dupes. Better priced.

@6fsn  take a look at youtube and don't feel shy to ask your local beauty counter to teach you things. That's how I learned :)

I should revise to say maybe when M2 is big enough she'll shame me into caring about makeup.  Tinted moisturizer, mascara, and lipgloss is about it.

I recently started "caring about makeup" which most days means maybe blush and lipgloss and sometimes eyeshadow.
It makes it easier to share makeup tips with a 6 year old when it's low stress :-P
  • Apparently I am way too into makeup. lol

My favorite skin care products are Wexler from Bed Bath and Body Works.  Tried it on a fluke a few years ago, and did wonders for my skin.  Recently I've tried Philosophy, Bliss, Murad, and Lancome, but Wexler still knocks it out of the park for me and there's a really noticeable difference when I start to use it again after trying something different.

I love the Urban Decay Pore Perfecting Primer

And their eye primer is fantastic too.  Like, apply during day, go out at night, sleep in it, still good, fantastic.
    Face
    Tarte Rainforest of the Sea

And PUR Minerals for the powder and also for bronzer

I'm in love with the Nars Orgasm blush right now

Eyes are Smashbox Raven Eyeliner, Maybelline Mascara, and any of the Naked Pallates.  Right now I've been using this one a ton.

  • @MissKittyDanger  - the MUF lipstick or the Jeffree Star? I have both. I don't wear lipstick on a daily basis, so the ones I already have will last for a while. I'll try NYX sometime.
  • I don't wear make up unless I'm going to a wedding or some equally formal event, and even then it's just mascara and lipgloss.  I'm pretty boring.

I do love Neutrogena's daily moisturizer spf 35 and toner; and Dove bar soap...they're by far my most used beauty products.

I forgot to plug Urban Decay eyeliners. I'm obsessed. My eyes are dry and run a lot, and while the liner does run a little as a result, it doesn't smear bad and it stays on!  The dark blue is my fave.

    ETA:  @misskittydanger link me please:)

  • i love urban decay for the primer potion, eye shadow and liners. (especially the glitter liner - i love that stuff). I don't have any of the naked palettes, but their  colorful palettes are my favorites. they're so pigmented. Sephora has the electric palette on clearance online.

I tried the ELF version and it doesn't work at all for me, sadly. The Smashbox version works, but not as well as I'd like it to for the price. I'm desperate for a good primer that will help keep my oily face in check.

Urban Decay setting spray is my jam right now

  • I'm a bit of a makeup/skincare/hair product junkie. I'm with all the PP's above who raved over Urban Decay. I have loved every single product of theirs that I've tried (and I've tried almost all of them ) Their eyeshadows, eyeliners, and primer potion can't be beat!

  • What inexpensive eyeshadow brand would you recommend?  I don't normally use it but would like to play up the eyes at my wedding.  Something at target or a walmart say?

  • NYX eyeshadow is actually really great and is nicely pigmented for their price (which is very reasonable, I think the pots are almost always on sale at Ulta for like...$5-7? and they have lots of different palettes too).  They're at CVS, Ulta, and Sephora.
  • @CharmedPam you can try ColourPop too. They're fairly inexpensive, and I've found the products to be good quality. It's online so maybe a little tougher to shop than in person, but they have a nice range.
    https://colourpop.com/

I'd still recommend using the UD Primer potion - especially if you go with something inexpensive on top - you're going to get a better finish and staying power. If you don't want to shell out the money for it, just get them to make you a sample at Sephora - it should be enough for a few trial runs and day-of.
