Agreed I'm so confused by all of this. 

Is the point supposed to be "don't let the haters get you down! Your wedding was great who cares what they think!"? Because if so it's really not coming across in a way that makes any sense. 

This is also the line of reasoning used to justify breaches of etiquette on sites like WW and WB. Any guest who complains about poor planning can be swept aside as someone whose opinion shouldn't have an effect on what you think and feel about your plans.
