I need some sort of bag

I usually carry a purse just big enough for a wallet, phone, keys, small first aid kit and 2 tampons.  However, I need to start carrying something that will fit 2 composition books and a 17" laptop a few times a month (in other word it won't take a beating).  I don't want huge.  I don't want some big print.  I don't want a basic black utilitarian look.  I would like it to be cheap and preferably from amazon.  Any recs?

it's a matter of personal choice, but I hate carrying my laptop in a tote - i'd go with a backpack, messenger or rolling bag. You'd be able to toss your small purse in, and not have to keep packing and unpacking. Also gives you the option to add a bottle of water, or a small snack.

I'm not down for the backpack.  I'm literally carrying something a short distance twice a month so the tote doesn't bother me.  I don't want to put snacks and water or anything else in it.  I'm just not someone that carries around a lot of shit.

I don't even care much about the purse.  A lot of times I'll walk out with my keys and nothing else.

I do like that second one.
