It's still snowing, but at least it's Friday!

edited December 2017 in Wedding Woes
It took my 50 minutes to get to work today when it normally takes me 25. At least the dog was super excited about the snow this morning. I was less thrilled when it was pelting me in the face when we were out for a walk. [Pic to come]

What's on tap for the weekend?

Today is the last day of class!!! So happy for the end of the semester. I'm leaving early, grabbing some Indian food (H hates it) and a nice bottle of Cabernet, and toasting myself for making it through the semester.

ETA: Woah that picture is huge... how do I resize it??

    You’re adorable.
We’re getting snow tomorrow! Only 3-5 inches but I am excited.

Doing some Xmas shopping today and then out to dinner with friends tonight. No other plans as of yet.

You are adorable!  Rosie kept licking the snow yesterday. It's gone already but will be back tonight.

Its my moms 60th so we're taking her out to dinner and she's spending the night. I feel bad, she wants to go to the casino; but doesn't realie the infinite problems with taking a Deaf/blind lady to a casino downtown in the evening. Tomorrow I have the monster mash, which I'm nervous for since my last one resulted in a biopsy and then I'm working a holiday party.

Hipefully I can get some shopping in Sunday.

I am so over this week.  Make it 5:00 pm already!  I have stupid tasks that I don't want to work on.

Yesterday H and i went to our favorite Lithuanian place, and ate fried potatoes basically, in three different ways (I read fried potato sausage and thought it was a variation of sausage.  It was not.  It was a friend potato in the shape of a sausage).

This weekend will be low key. I do have to bake, cook and clean like all low key weekends.  I found out my cousin from Calgary got engaged last week and told everyone to keep end of Aug/early Sept free.  That's cool.  I did want to check out Calgary....but more for the stampede...I'm like...can push it in July just for me, one person? I'm all for the stampede.  Otherwise, what's there to do in Calgary?

edit: For the most part, I'm done shopping. yay!  But I did it all online.  I see a lot of you are brick and mortar shoppers....what is your preference?

Always crazy to see places in the south get snow.

I'm WFH today because we close early for the company Christmas party tonight. I'm skipping the party because why waste a very rare babysitter on a party i don't care about attending. We're supposed to get some snow tonight like 1-2". Have breakfast with Santa tomorrow but it should be fine.

In for another day of background TV Hallmark Christmas movies

DH is off today.  He made me breakfast and is taking Max on errands this morning.  I have to go to school this afternoon for an event.  Then I'm getting a manicure (the first one in maybe 10 years?).  We have the CEO Christmas party tonight.

Tomorrow I've got to party prep and take M2 to a party.

Sunday Max's party! I bought a bunch of food supplies yesterday.  The cashier was chatting with Max and Max told him the food was for his fifth birthday party.  The receipt total was $55.55.  We all thought it was kinda cool.

Charlie couldn't get enough of the snow. He was prancing around like the snow was there just for him.

    @charlotte989875 aww you're so cute! :)

    @climbingwife vibes for xmas shopping!!

We're getting snow this weekend too apparently.

Tonight I'm picking up a couple things from Sephora, possibly a blush from MAC for my mum, and since B&BW has a candle sale I'll prob pick up a couple from there.

M has a cold, so he's probably just resting tonight.

Tomorrow he's suppose to do his tires, but if he doesn't do them tomorrow he'll do the plugs and tires on Sunday.
Our realtor has a wine + cheese drop in party, so we'll stop in for a bit.
Xmas party with friends tomorrow night.

Sunday M is either doing tires or plugs.
Also finally getting the garage cleared up and bringing patio furniture in and the cardboard out.

I think I'll clean a bathroom and maybe we'll put up some lights around the house, plus a few easy ornaments up.

Side note, does anyone have a ninja? I'm thinking of getting one after xmas. I'm thinking more when baby's born, if I don't have time to eat something nutritious at least I could make a smoothie.

I've had a ninja for 5+ years and been happy.  It's got the big container and two individual cups.  It's main use is smoothies, but I also put the big blender to regular use for black bean burgers.  If you want to make nut butters go for the vitamix.  Otherwise the ninja is fine.

Quick smoothie tip- blend up your spinach with water and ground flax and freeze. Portion whatever other fruits/yogurt you want to add into a Ziploc and freeze together.  When you want a smoothie dump it all into the cup add water/juice and you're ready to go.

Today was the company fun day. DH ran in the 3k obstacle course and almost died. I hope this is a wake up call that he needs to take better care of himself.
It also rained for the first time since February.

    I know :) I'm kidding {unless you're friends with potatoes .... that didn't occur to me}

We have a ninja too - also the big one plus food processor and 2 small cups. The big blender stopped working a few months ago, but we hardly use it so haven't really looked into it much. We've used the small cups to make babyfood a few times and then individual smoothies or milkshakes.

Really out of shape but he said he felt like his heart rate was in the “danger zone” whatever that means. He can exaggerate sometimes. Mostly, I think he realized that he is not 20 anymore and cannot just get up and run 5miles with no prep.

I eat ALL my potatoes with my friends.  Who doesn't love potatoes?

I had a bullet and ninja.  They both broke on me.  I didn't like them.  My best results for smoothies are from a really good blender.  Forgot the brand I use, but I went old fashioned blender.  I do want a vitamix!  I may get one after surgery after I rely on smoothies/shakes more.

It's FRIDAY!  Finally.  I do have to work tomorrow though.

It is the kiddo's bday today.  We're taking him and the GF out to dinner.  I think FIL is meeting us too.

Sunday is going to hopefully be a chill and/or get stuff done around the house day.  I need to wrap presents.

Oh thank gawd! Not safe, but at least it wasn't like "take me to a hospital now" deal

We had a blender but it's recently died. Since it's winter, we're not using it as much and have a food puree thing. When are you looking at getting vitamix? I may look into that also!

I probably should have been looking on Black Friday, but we get sales all through Christmas and even after (they want to keep sales up after Christmas too!) so actually....very very soon.  But there is nothing wrong with my blender.  It was like $60 from kohls and has been working A-Ok so far.  I used to do smoothies daily.

We were gifted a ninja a few years ago and love it.  Our also had a dough blade, so H has made fresh pasta and some breads too.  I also used it for baby food this past year.

Our Holiday party was sparsely attended last night.  I was the first one from our group there and sat by myself at a table for 30 minutes before the first people joined me!  It was pathetic!  Eventually my group made their way over and chatting was nice.  Food was good, per usual and the free drinks are always a bonus!

DD was so happy to see me when I got home.  Its adorable to watch her fling her arms around in joy!  She sat with me for about an hour and then it was bath time and bedtime.

Tonight we are going out to dinner.  Its for BBQ, so H has been dying all week since I said we should go!  Tomorrow is yoga in the morning.  Then my aunts are coming over to help bread the 5 lbs of shrimp for our 7 fishes.  Into the freezer they will go until the party on the 23rd, when they will get fried up!

We are also supposed to get a few inches of snow this weekend!  I'm wondering what DD will make of it!  Olive loves the snow, so I usually go out and play with her a little bit too.  But at 9 now, she will be good after 5 minutes!

Not sure what is up for Sunday.  Probably finish our decorating and doing some cleaning.

@charlotte989875, such a cute pic!  Outdoorsy and a winter wonderland I rarely get to see.

@Jen4948, does it usually snow in Houston here and there during the winter?  Or is snow a really unusual event?

@CharmedPam, a fried potato sausage...that is merely fried potato shaped like a sausage...is dishonesty in advertising!!  It's just wrong, lol.

Edited to add:  It's been so interesting to read how much everyone's dogs love snow!  So cute!  My H and I have been so curious how our own dog would react.  We keep threatening to take her somewhere with snow, but there are a lot of logistical problems with that.

On the topic of snow, my coworker showed me this video on his phone yesterday.  It's titled, "How a Southern Weatherman Really Makes Money."  It's on You Tube under that title, which I can't access from work, but here is another link:

    http://www.southernthing.com/how-a-southern-weatherman-really-makes-money/

Let's just say he steps aside for a moment to call his investment broker.  Right before he is about to announce to his audience that they are going to be having a 1/2"...maybe even a full inch...of snow.

No snow here, but it is going to be cold.  I'm happy to not have too much going on.  Picking up gyros for lunch on the way home and then staying home.  Snuggled into a blanket with the heat high.  My H and I have our p/t pic job on Saturday.  I'm hoping he'll do it without me, but I doubt it.  Other than that, back to the blanket and staying put.  Mmmmm...I should make a crockpot of apple cider later today.

@CharmedPam It's like a waffle maker. Not a huge rush, and we're likely getting one after xmas. Maybe boxing day deals? I'm gonna keep an eye on vitamix and ninjas also :)

@sparklepants41 baby sleep vibes :) yay for weight gain! It's like pregnancy, only time you can be like "yay congrats on gaining weight!" lmao

oooh that reminds me, last year (or two years ago?) I told my mom to get H a waffle maker because HE'D USE IT EVERY WEEKEND MOM!

    We used it twice.

I'll have to take that out when they're visiting over the holiday's and make sure to use it in front of them so they feel like he had used it every weekend.

Lol! Honestly I think we'd use it lots. We had a grill and originally it took us awhile to use it, but once I realize it made less noise than our oven - since it sometimes set off the fire alarm
