Super Tuesday

Re: Super Tuesday

  • Life just keeps moving along here. DH is still looking for a job. He is meeting with a recruiter today so FX she has something interesting for him. The problem is, jobs just aren't as good as they used to be. The salaries aren't as good, or they require massive amounts of travel, or they want to hire you as a contractor without benefits. Idk why but onboarding takes For Ever! Like 9 months, for real. We would eat through all of our savings if we have to wait that long. If DH doesn't have an offer by the end of the month, we are going to start plans for moving back to the States unfortunately.
They closed all of the nurseries since last Sunday because COVID-19. So we have had my friend's little girl here during the day. I am hoping that they will hire on our nanny if we have to leave but I know she will be looking for Live-In and our is Live-Out. That is one of my biggest concerns, what will happen to our nanny if we have to leave.
Starting next Sunday, they are closing all the schools and colleges for 4 weeks. Parents are going to be PIIIIISSSSSEED.
  • @short+sassy, I wish mortgage companies offered discounts for direct pays! That is awesome that you do.  Like you said, you don’t even have to
Actually, that's not uncommon!  Some banks will give a small discount on the interest rate, like 1/4 pct. less, if the borrower sets up an auto-debit from their checking account.  Though the checking account has to be with that bank ;).  That's part of their marketing strategy, lol.
Sadly in Canada there is zero discounts on rent/mortgage.
Our mortgage is with bank X, so M and I sent up a joint acct with them. He was already a customer.
Our mortgage, condo fees and property tax come out of that account.
    No discount.

Yeah, I haven't come across any nice discounts in Canada either.  Maybe someday!
