Mid-June Monday

Re: Mid-June Monday

  • I am really a ridiculous level of mad about the new software, but it's truly fucking ridiculous.  We've lost so much functionality and it's not user friendly to someone who is educated in the field at all.  One of my bosses asked, "Can I put this list in descending date order?"  I replied, "yes and it's too complicated for me to explain, I'm coming into your office."  After I set it up, he was slightly raging b/c he said, "That WAS too complicated to explain and that's stupid AF."

There might be a revolt at noon, IDK.  All I know is that it's going to slow me down lots and lots, and tempt me back into building a forms folder rather than use their merge system.  Oh and it's also slow AF too, but that might just be an issue with the info merge right now.

This weekend was good.  Our pottery date on Friday was fun and we went out for drinks afterwards and had a good time.  K got a little snippy towards the end, so we're still working out signals.  Saturday I was lazy and did nothing.  Sunday we built our new shelves and transferred stuffs, did laundry, all that jazz.  We watched Artemis Fowl, which was okay.  K watch 9 to 5 for the first time and loved it.  I think we watched some other movies, but can't recall right now.

Ugghhh @levioosa fingers crossed you don't have it now!  To think you work in healthcare and have avoided it thus far.  That really sucks.
  • Levioosa - I would be livid!  I'm glad you are getting tested and also forcing your FSIL to get tested.  Are they doing contact tracing where you are?  Its possible your FSIL left a trail of exposure.  Fingers crossed that you are negative.  Will your work require multiple negative tests?  My cousin had it, she's a nurse and needed 3 negative tests are her positive to return to work.

MNNE - I love the term recliner church!

The good news of the SC decision over gay and transgender discrimination in the workplace is amazing!  They also refused to take up a 2nd Amendment case to the gun nuts!

We had a good weekend here.  Brother and SIL saw some more houses to rent after expanding their parameters.  Part of the problem is that with SILs dad they need a first floor bedroom and preferably full or 3/4 bath.  But they put in an app for one place and trying to figure out some other things too.  The realtor keeps telling them they can just install a stair lift for SILs dad, but for a rental?  A purchase - yeah.

DD started daycare again today and she was so happy on the way into school!  She has even taken a nap, when she only took 2 her entire time home since mid-March!

  • @OliveOilsMom technically since I’m asymptomatic my work would have let me work as long as I wore a mask (messed up yes, but it’s the policies of many healthcare institutions, scarily enough). But my manager and I decided it would be better for me to get tested and stay home so we don’t panic the rest of the staff.

Do you need to stay home/self-quarantine for 14 days and then be tested again?

Wow people complaining about no masks I must say that’a not what I’m seeing in my area. I stopped off at a store on Saturday for the fist time since March 29th And saw only 1 person without one.  Haven’t been out to a restaurant yet. @VarunaTT  I hope a revolt can solve that software problem!

i agree with banana @levioosa, even without the pandemic if you have a fever/don’t feel well you cancel!

Friday, Sat & Sun I took off from healthy eating and working out.  I’m in such a rut.  I work so hard and get zero results from it so my attitude now about being healthy is why even bother? Like I hate working out and eating bland healthy food but I’ll do it if my glucose levels are right and I lose weight, but what’s the point if my levels are high and Im not losing? But i’m back at it today.  Still feeling “whatever” about it.

I’m so over working today too.

That doesn't make sense to me either, unless the insurance would pay for it also.  They'd also have to pay to remove it, if the property owner didn't want to keep it.

Here is your Fair Housing Minute for the Day, lol.  Rental property owners cannot discriminate against people who are disabled (there are exceptions).  They must also be willing to allow reasonable accommodations; however, they do not need to pay for them.  That is the tenant's responsibility.  It is also the tenant's financial responsibility to put the property back the way it was, upon vacating.

  • @MNNEBride no, if the test is negative I think they will let me go back to work. But I’m not sure. They might want me to quarantine the entire time. Which sucks. I don’t have that much vacation time and I want to use it for an actual trip, not shitty quarantining.

SILs dad is not legally disabled, so I don't know how much they can use his inability to go up stairs.  But SIL is willing to ask the insurance company (who is paying for all of the rental minus utilities) to see if they would install one.  She is also willing to ask landlords to consider the installation.  But she just feels like that is too much of an ask for the insurance company to consider since they probably cost into the 2-4 thousand range.

That is still a disability that would fall under Fair Housing.  It's not as narrow as only applying to someone who is collecting SS Disability and/or disability insurance.  The ADA defines a person with a disability as a person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.

A landlord can't refuse to allow a chair lift to be installed.  But, true, the insurance may not have to pay for it.

It's funny how architecture/house types can be so different for different areas!  Where I live, most single family homes are single story.  It would be difficult to find a rental house that has multiple stories, lol.
