If you can spare some Covid healing thoughts DH's aunt called FIL today to say she's Covid positive.  She's in her late 60s and the primary caregiver for their 96 yo mother.  The aunt is isolating but who knows how long she was sick and the exposure of DH's grandma.
Yikes!  Ts and Ps for your DH's aunt.  I hope his grandma tests negative and isn't affected.

Soo, yesterday I had to sit in a meeting with the coworker that I had an unpleasant interaction with.  At this point, she has called me dark hearted, nasty, and then added bully.  None of which is true; she just has her own issues going on and I'm the target of her ire now that she's been shot down by everyone else.  It got a bit under my skin this morning and I had to have another meeting about that.  I'm just worn out.  My boss was worried that I would just want to go back to paralegal and I said I had already considered that, but no.  I like what I'm doing and working on and I don't want to give it up.  This coworker isn't going to defeat me on this.

Otherwise, SSDD.  I'm really freaking tired for some reason.  This dark all the time is messing with me.
I'm sorry to hear about that!  Like you really need something else to be worried about with everything else you have going on.

I'm glad you are not going to let this coworker affect what you are doing.  Sounds like she is known (or should be known) for being a complainer and pot-stirrer anyway.  But I'm assuming it is still extra steps that you and the company need to take for more oversight/documentation in dealings with her.  Plus it is still unfortunate to know a coworker is unhappy and offended, even if her feelings are unfounded.

Me too!  DH (who does NOT show how emotions make him feel) almost looked like he was about to cry and I guarantee it's because the grandma is the matriarch of the family and is as close to saint like as you can get.   She's outlived her husband and two daughters and while we know at 96 the time is precious we also hope that this is not something that she's forced to endure.
  • I like my hot chocolte in the packets still.  Am I weird? I think kinder eggs were banned because the toys in them were chocking hazards, right?
Yes, that is why they were originally illegal in the US.  I THINK they do the packaging differently for the US Kinder eggs.  I think the little plastic toy is sectioned off by itself into half the egg and the other half is just the chocolate/creamy stuff.  But it's been a long time since I bought one, so it is possible I am remembering wrong.

They also have Kinder candy bars...candy-bar shaped with chocolate covered "pockets" holding the creamy stuff...and no toy at all.  Definitely a better value, if you don't need to worry about a child having a potential meltdown because they aren't getting a toy, lol.
It's weird to think it's banned in US but yes because there's "non-edible parts"
But in Canada, it's a hollow chocolate egg with a plastic piece around the toy.

There's also one like you described. "Surprise" or "Joy"

The "Surprise" are what are banned in the US.  "Joy" are sold legally in the US.

It doesn't look like it.  I think it's all in how the toy is packaged that lead to the US ban.

    Me too!

The home is often a hub and I hope that it hasn't been recently.   The aunt is a mother of 12 and many of the kids live relatively close by.  Of those that live out of state, one is a physician and while not an epidemiologist, he has been a resource and has been practicing and in hospitals since pandemic began.

I think complacency may have set in both with the grown ups and the grown children.  Hopefully everyone is OK and everyone goes back to hunkering down.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Hugs and prayers for DH's grandma!

Meanwhile, I've had an exhausting day myself with several interviews, trying to do some contract work remotely and just waiting to hear back. My mom was in rehab but she's back in the hospital with an infection.

For anyone in the Northeast, stay warm, dry and safe!

Banana - Prayers for DHs Aunt and that Grandma stays negative.

Jen - Prayers for your mom's infection to run through quickly.
  • I hope your mom is getting great care @Jen4948
  • Thanks @kvruns. It doesn't seem like she was getting very good care at the rehab center where she has been, but my dad is going to address it with their doctor.

Casadena We had the problem with the gparents going overboard. I started implementing toys grandparents get can live at their house for the kids when they are there. Funny my mom quickly moved to buying a few things and contributing to the girls college fund. Lol, She hates clutter.
    You are a genius.
