Fiance wants to get me a bigger ring, like what I have now...

My fiancé bought me a Claddagh ring with a ruby stone while in college.  The ring was inexpensive and he told me he would buy me a more expensive one when he was able to.

Now that we are out of college and he is working, he has mentioned that he would like to get another ring for me. He wants to go ring shopping today.  I love the ring and I am not sure if I want a different one.  He really would like to get me a more lavish ring.  I was wondering if I can somehow incorporate the ring I have now. Maybe reset it or get a larger stone?  A friend suggested something on the lines of to get it reset or buy a larger band and reset the ruby inside of it...

Any suggestions? TIA!!!!

I would talk to your fiancé- why is it important for him to buy you a different ring (one that you don’t seem to want)? What about just putting the money to your wedding, instead of engagement, ring?

I think it’s fine to not want to change rings (if you wanted to that’s also fine!!) but i think you should tell him that and talk about why it’s important to him. It’s your ring you’re the one wearing it everyday!

If you love your ring, I would tell your fiance so. I'd tell him I appreciate that he wants to upgrade your ring, but you love it so much that you want to keep it the way it is. But I agree with @charlotte989875 that talking to your fiance would be helpful in getting you on the same page.
