I go for my second vaccine shot tomorrow morning! So happy to be almost fully vaccinated, and praying I don't have any intense side effects. 

Have a sort of date thing later today. We hung out last week and I had a great time. So we're doing dinner again this week.

My day is starting off well.  I caught up on my sleep, which always makes me feel so much better and more energetic.  Energetic being a relative term, lol.

The electrical problem at my house turned out to be minor.  Phew!  One wire and the outlet it ran to had gone bad.  Our electrician replaced both of those things, got the rental side back up and running quickly, and it only set us back $150. 

Overall, the timing turned out to be great.  My main tenant who AirBnBs it had guests that checked out on Sunday, so they were affected a little bit from late Sat. night until they left.  There was no one staying there Sunday.  More guests checked in on Mon. afternoon.  By then, the problem had already been solved.

Okay WW'ers!  @CharmedPam and I need your help!  We are super excited to be going on an Atlanta/Savannah trip in mid-May and would love any recommendations for food/things to do.  For Atlanta, we will be staying in the Midtown area, if that helps.  We will have a rental car for the whole trip.

For Atlanta, we already have the Coca Cola museum as a definite on our list.  In Savannah, we will be doing 1-2 ghost/history tours.  Though there are a lot to choose from!  Apparently Savannah is an old and haunted city, lol.  We both like history and I especially like historic homes/cool architecture.

Edited to add:  We will both be fully vaccinated by then.  I just wanted to add that in, so it didn't look like we were being completely irresponsible to travel out of state during a pandemic.

On Tuesdays we have an all company meeting from 9-10, I call in to our zoom's in baby B's room and planned to take today's meeting to switch out winter and summer stuff in his dresser. Of course today is a day they want to have mini breakout rooms and have conversations so I actually have to be on video and talk.  Cmon guys, I'm trying to multitask!

I have a meeting like this on Wednesday! I always plan to multitask but at least they put it in the meeting notice there would be breakout rooms.

Sleep training day 3- he cried. I cried. But he slept for like 10.5 hours. 

The weather is beautiful today and hoping to get a run in at lunch. Because I didn’t run this morning because the baby was still sleeping!!

I got my H&M order, recorded a youtube vid, and put the clothes away. Not super sold on how much I like having them in the dresser since I wanna getting rid of the dresser.
I was hoping to get a tupperware for under her bed, but my grocery store apparently went out of stock *eye roll*

Whatever, I'll figure it out. We have until winter to get dresser out, so we have time.

Definitely SSDD around here.  It is going to get up to around 80 today.  

DH made fun of my pate ass legs yesterday because I was wearing shorts.  LOL  I'm hoping for some outside time this week and weekend. I need some sun!!  

I cannot wait for boating season.  I think I'm going to finally order some swimsuits this weekend.  I've narrowed it down to 4.  I'm loving the cap sleeve trend in swimwear this season.

I am freezing in the office today. It is supposed to get up to 80 today so I think I need to run out at lunch to warm up a little.

My MIL asked for the day off tomorrow (she watches our kids) so I am taking a vacation day. I was planning on going to the park and having a picnic but now it’s looking like it will rain. Boo! Trying to think of a plan B now.

Next groceries, I'm hoping it'll still be on grocery pick up to avoid going into the store. Plus idk if they're considered essential {non-essential things are blocked off - some stuff can be done if you do grocery pickup}

I don't think I've seen cap sleeve swimsuits before.  I finally found one I really like that is good at sucking things in but it is not so fun when I have to pee. I prefer 2 pieces just for that although B likes to hang on me and pull things down which is why I went for the one piece

Man, I totally forgot that my Zyrtec makes me drowsy AF if I take it at night, and I took it last night.  I am draaaaging this morning.  But I really needed it; I had sat out on a patio and it was so windy,, I think it was blowing pollen right into my face.

Last night, I had the somewhat stunning realization that I don't really feel "safe" at work anymore.  Between what is going on with this former co-worker, all of the drama around my previous responsibilities, and the fact that someone has complained about me "talking about my alternative lifestyle", I'm really struggling to even talk to anyone professionally here.  I have 3 people I know I can trust, but I'm not sure it's enough.  I make very good money here though and I might not be able to match it elsewhere.  Then there's always the unknown of a new job.  I haven't decided, but I'm definitely thinking about things.

I'm seriously considering moving.  I'm starting to research warm/liberal bigger cities.  So far, NOLA and Miami look interesting (no Texas, never Texas, I can't stand Texas).  My career should transfer fine and money wise, it looks mostly comparable.  COL isn't so different except for housing.  Both places would have a far larger queer population (me not wanting to be a mother or a stepmother is going to put a crimp in my dating in this city, this is where people come to have families).  I'm not sure I'd be competitive in Miami though, b/c of my lack of a 2nd language, so not sure.  I'm not making any big decisions for at least a year, so I've got time to really plan things out.

Otherwise, SSDD at work and home.  I keep saying I'm so ready for the world to open back up, but then I'm like, I don't even know why, WTF am I actually going to do?

That sucks @VarunaTT- I meant to ask you yesterday, can you work remotely while all of this is going on? I remember you saying before the firm was super remote-friendly but wondering if they’d make an exception? 

Would a move like that be far from your parents?

Good luck on shot #2 @climbingsingle!  I was worried about side effects with me.  All I had was minor headache (went away with tylenol) and weak muscles for like 1/2 a day.  Didn’t really stop me from doing anything! Still had date night the day after.

yesterday, today and tomorrow I’m busier than usual at work.  We have a sales conference going on (sociallly distanced), and the admin setting it up was just going to put out coffee for the salespeople.  She doesn’t drink coffee and had no idea what else was needed for coffee drinkers. I left the house early to pick up creamers, sugars, sweetners, tea and decaf.  Gotta have options! And then tomorrow I told her I’d go to starbucks early with her for the breakfast pick up. Early mornings.  Long nights.  But I think we’re all working from home Friday because of it.

Ugh @VarunaTT, that sucks.  Not being able to trust people or a situation makes me so damn anxious.  I can't imagine it being my work environment.  

I totally understand wanting to GTFO of your area.  If you need a partner for scouting trips to areas you're interested in, you know where to find me.  LOL  (All I think about is traveling right now.)

Lol yup!  Yesterday she’s like “you know what we forgot to get?” (We did a costco run for snacks) “creamer”.  So then I walked into the kitchen and saw that our coffee mate powder had expired in 2016! We had NO idea how old the splenda pacjeta were. So I told her I’d take care of it. You usually have coffee & tea as an option anyway. 

@VarunaTT, that sucks about your situation.  Me, myself, I love St Louis, but I’ve only visited.  Can you work remotely as you job search?  I also think you got a great pad as well! I don’t know if you could touch that sq ft and price in other metropolitan areas

Nothing much going on today. I rejoined Noom last night. Hoping that the app will keep me more accountable - pretty easy to log food. They were offering 90% off so there was that too.

Any place I'm looking at would be far from my parents, which would be hard for me (and them).  But my aunt is now retired and only lives a few hours away and could get to them quickly if we needed family there.  And most places in the US are really only about a 2-3 hour flight if I needed to get back.

The housing difference is definitely a huge factor for me.  Just moving in general sucks anyway, but I do love my apartment and I know what a great deal I have.  Heck, they probably want me to GTFO b/c they could be renting it at a much higher rate!  That's another thing that I appreciate.  I've lived in this complex for 5 years and never once has my rate increased.  Nearly every place else does the 3% increase every year.  The only time this place changes what they charge is when someone moves out (my old apartment next door is now $150 higher than when I lived in it).

My firm isn't remote-friendly and me working remotely isn't an option.  Right now, I'm just trying to stay put and deal with things. I know I'm living through trauma (as my therapist keeps reminding me) and until it's over one way or another, I don't want to just make a rash decision.  Though my therapist was very intrigued by the idea of me moving and as we talked through it, was supportive of putting that option in my wheelhouse.

I do like St. Louis, but I really Really REALLY want someplace warmer and I am sick of MO's political atmosphere.  I do have a great support network already in StL, but I kinda want to move somewhere I can enjoy some anonymity.  StL and KC wouldn't offer that, I already have too many professional/advocate connections.  I have a support base in NOLA (thanks to WW), nothing in Miami, and San Diego could be on the table as one of my BFFs lives there too.  I was trying to think of warm liberal state and like...are there any?  I'm really tired of living in a red state.  StL, the city, has LGBTQ+ protections, so that is also a consideration.  Right now, it's all open season basically, but it would take me a solid year to prep no matter what, so I'm not pushing too hard.

ETA:  good lord, that is some stream of consciousness rambling above.  Thanks for making it this far.

OMG y'all, H and I just found out DS2's best friend's brother died. We don't know any details (saw a post on FB). We don't know if DS2 knows or not. This is heartbreaking. He was 31. We have know the family for over 20 years. At a loss for words right now.

@VarunaTT, I'm sorry you don't feel safe at your work.  I really hope that changes and gets better for you.

Since you mentioned NOLA is a city you are thinking about moving to, please feel free to bombard me with any questions/concerns you have, any time, lol.

It's a MCOL city.  The city itself is very blue and liberal.  But the suburbs are not and the state of Louisiana is NOT.  At all.

I know you work in the legal field.  One thing to consider career-wise, is Louisiana is the only state that bases it's laws on the Napoleonic Code.  I've heard that is VERY different.  So I'm not sure how hard/easy that would be for you to step into a similar role here or if it would be a deterrent on getting hired, if you don't specifically have experience in this state.  At any rate, something to consider and look into.  The tenant who rents the other side of my personal duplex, and we're also friends, is an attorney.  If I'm remembering correctly, you are a paralegal.  PM me if you'd like me to ask him any general questions about working in the legal field here.

The city itself is very LGBTQ-friendly and I think that's largely true for the closest suburbs.  But, if you start getting more out of town and into the country, it's very conservative though I don't think usually hateful.  I rarely travel outside the city/suburbs and am cis-hetero, so am probably not the best person to gauge that.  But I'll tell you about the same attorney tenant I just mentioned.  He is a gay man who grew up about 90 minutes away from the city and still has his business and main house there.  He's in his mid/late 30s so, in his younger years, being gay wasn't nearly as accepted as it is nowadays.  Especially in his hometown.  And that's one of the reasons he loves NOLA so much.  Back then, it was a haven for him to be himself and not have to hide his sexuality.  Nowadays, he has a very outgoing, blunt, and outspoken personality (in a good way).  Even in his local community, it's been years since he felt he had to hide a part of himself.  He's a highly respected, pillar of the community with lots of friends and contacts.  I'm not saying he hasn't faced discrimination or "side-eyes" in the last few years, but he has never mentioned it to me so, even if he has, I assume they are "one-offs" and not a usual thing.

On the romance side of things, that's the other reason he likes NOLA.  It's just a much bigger city, so there are more opportunities for finding Mr. Right or, at least, Mr. Right Now, lol.  I hear what you're saying about not wanting to be a mother or stepmother.  That would be a dealbreaker for me also, if I were single.  But if you draw a 10-mile circle around NOLA, there's over one million people.  The more people, the more chances you'll find good romantic possibilities!

There is so much cool stuff about New Orleans.  There really is.  The food is amazing and I'm not just talking about the famous 4-star restaurants.  There are little mom and pop restaurants and walk-up counters everywhere with incredibly delicious food.  We are an old city with a lot of history and our own unique styles and traditions.  Our architecture is beautiful.  Both myself and my H are transplants and loved it here for many years.  But we don't like it anymore and haven't for a long time.  And right now especially, it is a terrifying place to live in because of the rampant car jackings that have been going on.  I really, really hope it will be better in the near future and certainly by the time you would potentially come here a year from now.  But there really is no telling.  If I were in a better position to do so, I would have already moved away.

The state and city government are poorly run and have historically been crooked.  There is more selfishness here in the general population then I've experienced in other places.  The selfishness is in small ways.  People parking in the middle of a lane when they could have just as easily pulled over to the sidewalk.  And I don't mean this happens "once in awhile".  I mean, it's almost every day and sometimes multiple times a day.  People who want you to move your cart in a grocery store that isn't blocking an aisle, but so they don't have to walk two steps around the other side of a display.  Unload their groceries and then put their cart directly behind the car next to them and drive off.  Those are just some examples of the abject thoughtlessness that is all around me, all the time.  And the bigger ways.  We have the shittiest drivers here, mainly because so many people are selfish AHs.  For a long time it was merely "annoying", but years and years of it has made me bitter and eaten away at my soul.  It has also beaten the love for this city out of me and my H.
