Wedding Woes

THURSDAY!

Re: THURSDAY!

  • Busy day at work, so I didn't have time to post, but I need makeup suggestions!  I just became a bridesmaid in a wedding in two months.  Due to Covid, I am thinking it best that I just do my own makeup .... also the person the bride is recommending is not a makeup artist but a Younique sales rep.  I'd rather just use my own makeup.

I'm set for eyeshadow and lipstick, but any recommendations for an eyeliner (I'm pale and blonde, so maybe a dark brown), foundation, and highlighter?  And something that doesn't break the bank - the eyeliner I will use, but I rarely use foundation and highlighter.  Basically anything I need to look good and not shiny for photos.

  • @STARMOON44 maybe something will come from it?

@kerbohl, probably not helpful but I’ve stopped using eyeliner and now just use the darkest eyeshadow I have with the right small tip brush.  It’s given me a softer look and I wouldn’t put those dark colors on my lids ever.
And foundation?  I’m lost on that.  I can’t find one I super love.  So far, the best I have is “age 20’s” which is a compact foundation, at first I thought it gave me the look of smaller pores but I don’t think it’s any better than my expensive liquids.  Sorry!

  • @CharmedPam I usually do the same instead of eyeliner, but I am thinking that I need something a bit more ... dramatic?  I prefer the look of using dark eyeshadow, but since it is a medieval themed wedding, I want my eyes to pop a pit more.

I was thinking that wet n wild contouring stick .... I might pick that up tonight now that Ontario is open.

I agree on the eyeliner- I also only use a dark brown shadow!

I really like IT cosmetics CC cream instead of foundation. I find it blends better and feels lighter on. But I also don’t need/want a ton of coverage either. I also use the bare minerals powder.
  • @charlotte989875 Do you like using the cream?  One of the things I am debating is cream or powder as well.

Do I need a "finishing" powder?  Do they actually "set" make-up like they claim?

I use a setting spray over the powder and I feel like it helps set it so much better than the powder alone. I love the cream- I will wear it alone if I just want a little coverage (and sun protection).

The sun protection is a good point.  This wedding is outdoors in August ....I'll be wearing a long sleeve dress, but I should still think about sunscreen.

Yah I really like the IT cosmetics one because it has 50 SPF but doesn’t feel like sunscreen

So I watch a beauty blogger who said Haus Laboratories (Lady GaGa) eyeliner was really good. And her glosses.  It’s an ink liner though.  This beauty blogger said it stayed on all day and was precise.  I had them in my amazon cart but I stopped using liners.
