Fri-yay

We made it!
Today is rainy but in a cozy way.  We have a trunk or treat at the high school tonight (rain date Sunday), my mom hosts a very sweet Halloween party for the cuzzies each year and we have that tomorrow (the kids and I make a spider web cake and as they get older they get more excited about making it), and exH is running a 5k nearby that he asked me to bring the kids to on Sunday.  Since bigger person is my middle name I'll probably have the kids make "go daddy go!" posters to hold up as he runs by.

Hope everyone has something fun and/or relaxing planned this weekend!

Soccer pictures are tomorrow morning.  They were rescheduled from the end of September due to rain and....it's going to rain.  Surprise!  At least both kids are within a half hour of each other so the time outside should be minimal.

Chiquita has a game tomorrow and we'll lend the team our EZ up.   DH has a follow up on his foot.  The lack of progress on the sores is making him nervous and nervousness leads to panic attacks for him.  It guts me and I am hopeful that he can be verbally aggressive enough with the doctors so they are prompted to do more intensive testing, bloodwork, etc.    Thus far they've gone away briefly and all he has to show for it is recurrence, increased stress and the intestinal issues that come with two rounds of antibiotics.

Sunday AM we have back to back games for Chiquito starting at 9 and then at 11.  Our afternoon will be free and I'm hoping to be both productive but depending on timing may take the kids to the local farm for pumpkins and hay ride if we want to really "live it up" in the authentic New England autumnal way.  Chiquita has to knuckle down and work on her GS Silver Award project so I may have to sequester her to her room or the dining room table.

@ei34, you're a good mom!  Just keep reminding yourself the posters are for the kids to be excited about and feel involved, not for their dad, lol.

Shoot!  I just remembered I have unused Halloween costumes I need to sell.  I meant to put them online last weekend.  And the weekend before that.  But ugh, here I am in my usual state of procrastination.

I also need to get a lot of stuff cleared in my bedroom so my H and I can set up my home office this weekend.  We finally have all the pieces and parts.  I think!  Definitely ran into some snafus.  The chair I have is way too low for the desk, so I need to get another chair (sigh).  We have a tv we're not using that I'm going to use as my monitor.  My H doesn't think I will like having a monitor that big.  I think it will be fine.  Walmart sells refurbished monitors for less than $40, so that is plan B.

At least all of this kerfluffle is forcing me to go through some of the boxes I have to get rid of things and make more room.

Just put this one in the books @ei34.  Your kids will show up for Dad on Sunday, but we know Dad doesn’t always show up for them.
    Of course it’ll rain @banana468
@short+sassy, I LOVE my big screen! I can’t remember how big mine is, but the one at home is as big as 2 put together and the one in the office is 3.  I actually like the 2 screen-er more.
I was already at walmart this morning getting supplies for my costume.  I’m almost done actually. If it works, and I can pull it off, it’ll be my best costume yet.  It’s too scary to wear ON Halloween with kids around, so it’s just for Halloween bunco night…I had plans for it for an adult only dress up streetfest. My freinds were all for it months ago.  It takes place this weekend and guess what? They don’t want to go now.  I know it’s a PITA if you want to go and drink (which we do) because it’s so far, it would be a costly uber ride.  So because of that, nothing really going on this weekend.  And I’m sad.  It’s MY season ya’ll, and there’s just 2 weekends left to do Halloween stuff for it.

Minor annoyance.  I just placed my refill through Amazon pharmacy for one of my medications.  It is a fairly new one and this is the first time I am refilling it.

Apparently, my insurance doesn't allow 90-day refills for this medication.  Only 30-day ones.  Whatever.  My OOP cost for 90 days without insurance is $22.  Or I can use my insurance with 30-day refills and pay $10.  PER MONTH.

It's a high deductible plan where I have to pay for everything out of pocket, but do get their discount. Not the first time my insurance has been useless because it's cheaper to pay without them.  But it's really eyerolling every time it happens.

But my portion for my usual local Walmart pharmacy is $58, so I definitely appreciate Amazon.

They aren't cheaper for my other medications.  But they are for this one and the one in the next paragraph.  That one is an unbelievable difference.

I have another medication that's pretty much just an "elevated" headache medicine.  The brand name is something like Fiorcet and the generic version lists the three ingredients.  I have heard it's a mild migraine medication.  I don't get migraines, but OTC headache medicine don't do much for me.  Last year, it was about $60 for 60 pills, which was already on the ridiculous side but worth it.  Then the classification of the drug changed to a controlled substance and that jacked my portion up to $360 this year.  After my complete and utter shock, I said "oh well" and stopped filling it.  But when I discovered Amazon had a pharmacy, I checked it out.  $13!

@CharmedPam, I do have two computer monitors at work and it is great.  When I move and if I have a WFH or hypbrid WFH job, I will definitely spare no expense (to the extent my frugal self will allow, lol) in outfitting my home office just the way I want it.  Including two nice-sized "real" computer monitors, haha.

But with all the flux I'm in at the moment, I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible as long as it's functional enough and I don't hate it.

I'm halfway through a 3 hour call to start off my Friday. I have no optimism that this is going to be a productive day. Anyway, I love my big monitor. If it's too big, you can split screen and get it to act like 2 monitors.

Not much going on for us this weekend, and I'm thrilled. I still have laundry leftover from the mountain trip last weekend (which was amazing and very needed). My driveway is buried in leaves, so yardwork. Hopefully a bonfire if it's dry enough. Our neighborhood brewery is closing (tear) so we'll have to get over there at some point.

@charlotte989875, Glad to hear your mom is recovering well!  And at least it wasn't a long hospital stay.

@Casadena, the Italian feast sounds awesome!  But I'm with G on loud noises.

@banana468, I agree with @levioosa about diabetes and wound care specialist. Good luck with all that and the pictures this weekend.

@Casadena ooo I would love an Italian gathering.

@ei34 you are definitely the better person and your kids will appreciate as they become older and more aware.

H is OOT until tomorrow evening. I had book club last night and got home a little after 10. Poor doggie had been in his crate for 4+ hours so I let him sleep with me. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well. I had an Italian lesson this morning. My tutor now has a full time job so we only meet once a month for conversation. I really miss our weekly meetings. I've been with her for 10 yearsish. It is however much easier on the budget. I also went to Costco this morning. I can't remember the last time I was there! H usually does the shopping. I bought a chicken pot pie to have for dinner this weekend. I know we will have tons of leftovers but I have always wanted to try one. The rest of the day will be spent snuggling the pup and reading.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Yay! Two local women were held hostage by hamas since the war broke out, but they were released today, taken into safety! @Casadena you must have heard about the Evanston mother/daughter?

I'm so glad this week is over.  IDK why I'm so damn tired right now, but I've been going to bed around 8 and sleeping hard until 6ish.  I have some ideas about why it is and I'm testing out some theories.  Hopefully this gets fixed b/c I am not myself when sleepy.

I have my eyebrow appointment.  Then, I'm getting my hair cut back short.  This last depression flare up that I'm coming out of, introduced the wonderful (/sarcasm) issue of not enough energy to deal with my personal hygiene.  I've done nothing with this long hair I said I wanted.  So, I'm cutting it off.  One, it'll look more professional and kempt with the style rather than just pulling it back all the time and two, since my short hair cuts are usually styled in the shower, hopefully it'll encourage me to shower more often.  Plus the shower won't take so long, so all of that mashed together, I'm hoping will make depression personal hygiene a lot easier.

I'm supposed to see the new Exorcist on Saturday night, but IDK if I can make it; the time I scheduled I'm usually already in bed for a few hours.  Otherwise, SSDD.

Wow! I want that sleep schedule!
I’m glad you’re coming out of it all! A new haircut will hopefully help in making you feel better too

@ILoveBeachMusic, I'm not much of a fan of chicken pot pies, though my husband is.  But I do like the Costco ones.  Though it's a little intimidating how large they are, lol.

I was sorely disappointed. There was too much crust in relation to the filling. H agreed with me. Oh well!

SIB: I love chicken pot pie, but agree that Costco is a little disappointing. I think almost all their other take and bake type items from the cooler are better!

I love chicken pot pie too so was really looking forward to it because I agree that their other items are good.

I usually just eat the inside and bottom crust.

Bread and bread-like ingredients are just a means to an end for me.  They add a little bit of taste, but I don't want most of it.  I push it aside or rip a lot of it off for dishes like this or sandwiches/hamburgers.
