Wedding Woes

Witchy Wednesday

I just put in for half of Tuesday and all of Wednesday next week off.  My anxiety is going through the roof.  I'm seriously considering upping my Lexapro for the next week, just to help numb out (this is when I miss alcohol).

Nothing much to report, mostly SSDD.  I'm trying to work my way through a stack of library books I brought home (curse the book that caught my eye and my browsing habits), while all of my purchased unread books stare at me.

Re: Witchy Wednesday

  • I was thinking of dubbing this thread “witchy Wednesday” lol.  Great minds!
i caved and bought some Judy Blue’s yesterday. It’s all over my feed and even verbally I hear great things about them. Aren’t they “Oprah’s favorite jeans”?  I mean… if they’re good for Oprah… I got a pair of shorts, capris, blue jeans and white jeans (needed a pair actually).  They’re not very tall girl friendly so my options with inseams over 33” was limited.  Hence the shorts/capris being safe.
Also, Victoria Secret was having a good panty sale. 10/$31 I was able to use a reward coupon for one free pair, even in that bundle deal and $10 off a bra.  So woohoo! I have some fun deliveries to look forward to!

Traffic this morning was terrible. I slept horribly last night because I am going to ask my manager a question later and I have that doctor's appointment tomorrow and I am a wreck of a person when it comes to political and interpersonal communication. The anxiety is just off the charts.

Otherwise, looking forward to being off the rest of the week. I wish I could sleep in tomorrow but I have that doctor's appointment (not super early, but a free morning to me means not having to *think* about being a person until 1 pm). We have way too much candy in the house and it is wreaking havoc. And then H went and bought more! Because "we didn't have snickers." Sir we have like four bags of candy. This is outrageous lol.

  • After the 2020 election I kind of feel like we're going to be in a state of flux for days.   If I remember, it was finally confirmed the Saturday after election day that Biden won in 2020 and given the current closeness of the race I'm mentally preparing that it may take the same length of time for votes to be counted.

DH bought candy yesterday.   At Costco.  For our house.  "To have something to give out".   When we are not going to be home and no one comes to our home to Trick or Treat.  And by that I mean, we put a bowl outside the front door, have a doorbell camera and not even a squirrel takes any.

The dryness in the area is picturesque but it's making fires pop up at an unprecedented rate.  They have been all over town to the point that there's an ordinance not just on camp fires and fire pits but grilling is also not allowed in any form.   We're supposed to camp next weekend and there's no good soak forecasted in the next week +.  I don't see how it's possible.
  • @VarunaTT, I was thinking about that yesterday.  Thankfully, I WFH on Wednesdays.  But I might take vacation time for the morning, because Tuesday is going to be a long night with heavy drinking.  Hopefully with my last drink of the night being champagne.  I commend you for sticking to no alcohol.

But I do have to work in the office on Tuesday. Meh.  People are pretty good about not discussing politics.  But you get "vibes" and it's definitely a Republican one from a lot of my coworkers.  I will explode into a fiery rage if I hear one pro-Trump comment.  Not outwardly, as much as I would like to, but inside my head.

I don't think Trump himself aired even one commercial in New Orleans.  But his buddy, Louisiana governor Steve Scalise, did.  The commercial's biggest point is that Harris promoted funding for prisoners to have gender affirming surgery (something like that).  Really dude?  The "worst" you can come up with about her is a handful of "controversial" surgeries?  When your party is the one that will leave MILLIONS of Americans without health insurance at all...for ANY kind of surgery...if the ACA is appealed.

But I like your moxie/s. Not many governors would show their anti-LGBTQIA ass like that to their state's largest city.  A city that has one of the highest percentages in the country for these individuals and has been a safe haven for this community for decades.

  • SSDD here. Busy at work, running errands at lunch (we need Halloween candy). Carving pumpkins tonight after pumpkin and bat shaped ravioli dinner! Boys have been practicing trick or treating in the living room the last few days so they are definitely ready!

I'm hoping it's not as close as polls are reporting.  One thing that will be interesting is to see how polls have to start developing out of this, as it becomes more and more obvious that people don't answer their phones to unknown numbers.  I used to be signed up to receive polls from..Zigby?, via email but I unsubscribed to that probably a decade or more ago.  But even if she wins, I'll be nervous until after a safe installation.  I am horrified at the burning of ballot boxes though.

This is kind of a funny story:  I was hanging out with friends.  One is an attorney, so he answers all calls.  He received a poll phone call that he put on speaker.  He tried to get through it, but it was such a bad faith call (ex: Do you believe in an abortion ban or that women should be able to kill their babies) that he hung up.  I got the very next phone call, which is a WILD coincidence.  I made it farther than he did, but I finally told the pollster I was sorry, but I couldn't continue to answer b/c it was such a bad faith poll and hung up.  That was probably 2021.  If I've received any others, I have no idea b/c I don't answer and they don't leave messages.

    That’s the cutest!
I’m going to be so sad on November 1st when this is all over
