A couple of meetings at work today but a lighter evening later on, just a PTA meeting. My kids were grumbling a bit this morning bc some of their friends were missing school today to go to their parents' Take Your Child to Work Day events. One of my sisters is an engineer and her office does a nice day, for example. But my school doesn't participate- many of my mom friends are also teachers and none of theirs do either, maybe it's the field? That explanation didn't stop the kids from grumbling though, lol
I went many years ago with my dad. He worked for a large government contractor and they had a whole big thing for that day.
With the crappy weather on Saturday Chiquito's game was moved to tonight which is fine but..oh so much on the plate when it's a full work day too. My second home office is the front seat of a minivan this time of year.
That was never really a thing growing up for us! I visited Dad at work a couple times and was in mom's classroom hanging out after school every day but that's about it!
Work is slow thankfully - catching up on a lot of stuff that's easy to push off but will make my life a bit easier. WFH tomorrow and hoping i have time to clean a bit.
I do remember going to my dad’s office when I was little, but don’t know if it was a set day. He put me to work. To this day I can’t stuff envelopes in bulk.
I’m SO happy it’s Friday Eve. I want to go and get my lawn out of the way tonight. I hate that it’s lawn mowing season, but I’ll take it over snow blowing. We just came back from a nice 2 hr administrative professionals day lunch, a day late, but it makes me not want to work. So I’ll read Prudie instead

I think there are a lot of industries and/or roles that aren't conducive to that.
I've never worked anywhere that had a Take Your Child to Work Day, though most places I've worked are typical office jobs and it would have been fine.
Growing up, I was never able to visit my dad at work. He was electrician who worked at major construction sites. Then later in his career he worked at a nuclear power plant. Every once in a great while the power plant had a Family Day on a Sat. and there were guided tours to see the facility, but it wasn't even an annual thing. That was the only time I got to go to his work.
My mom worked at a bank. She would sometimes, though rarely, bring us to work if there was an after school childcare issue that popped up. We'd hang out in the break room with our coloring books.

Will post Prudie shortly!
