Last day of school here, woohoo.  Freedom from today through 8/26 and looking forward it (with the exception of some summer school work).
The boy scout end of year event last night was really nice, the parents had a lot of fun and it was so cool we needed sweaters which was great.

I'm very glad to be at the end of this week.  I also have enough time already I can probably leave at noon if I want.  But I have some goals with this new program I'd like to hit, so that I start feeling better in general about it, so I might stay and get some overtime.  I had to help one of my bosses with the check in/out system, b/c he was struggling and was ending up with like 4 different versions of documents (it's a cloud based software and that changes some basic management things you don't expect).

Since I'll be off early, I'm going to watch an Amazon Preview that's a whole tv series.  I'm super excited about it, b/c I know what it is.  I can't wait to share with you guys when I can.  Being added to Amazon Preview has been awesome.  The Netflix preview club wasn't ever anything cool except once and it wasn't hard to leave it.  I think I'd be sad if I canceled Amazon Prime and didn't get to preview anymore.

Tomorrow, Mom and I are working to get the last few bits of the garage finished.  Sunday is race day.  I'll be going over to a friend's to watch (he has a 75" TV and it's SO MUCH FUN to watch the race on that) and then watch the last 4 episodes of The Pitt.  He said I wouldn't want to stop when I got to those.  At the point I left off, I can see why he said that.
  • Glad it all turned out @ei34!

I have a half day and then heading out to my ghost conference.  Excited for that. I have yet to pack but a 2-dayer. I’ll do that at 11:30 lol.
PSA, my friend told me she’s getting a lot of Halara ads and asked me if I ever bought anything from them. I had and I remember liking them a lot. So I went to their site because she said “halara” while my phone was in a 100 mile radius and suddenly I was getting their sale ads lol.
On Tuesday I bought some softlyzero pedal pushers and capri pants and they arrived Thursday.  O M G, they’re like butter. Super soft. Super comfortable. I’m sure they’re going to push lululemon’s out of the race because they’re even less than 1/3 of those and the quality is amazing.  Run. Don’t walk.

  • Also let’s discuss.

Or if you don’t want to read:

My house is at 77 and I’m comfortable most of the time. My house is old (1953) and had some add ons, so if I’m near a vent, 77 can sometime be too cold! If there’s
no vent I’m feeling the warmth and mugginess. Unfortunately, my bedroom was an add on and last year I made a closet in it, but the only logical place for the closet took up the vent. So my Dad took some piping over the vent and had it shoot out to the room again, but I lost 1/2 of the airflow by doing that. Now, I naturally like it warm so putting on my ceiling fan is OK for me - but get me into menopause and I’m going to be a cranky cranky lady.

Anyway, that’s a long explanation to ask what your houses are set at? Lol

Yay for Friday! It's been a long week and I've just felt disorganized all week, so I'm looking forward to getting stuff sorted this weekend. Pedi right after work tonight, then we'll just cook and veg for a bit. Tomorrow I want to get in a long run at the park early, and then I've got to get yard work done. With travel and rain, it's been 3 weeks since I've cut the grass and it's awful. Plus we had some bad thunderstorms come through last night (hail!) so there's also a lot of cleanup needed. I need to get up on the roof and clear the crap away from the gutters too. So, hopefully it won't rain until later. Then a friend is having a party tomorrow night, so we'll head over there. Sunday I'm going to tackle all the indoor organizing while H tries to work on installing the gas logs we bought. It's weird timing, but I want it done before fall and I know it's going to be one of those projects that drags.

Wow, @ei34! I'm always amazed at how late your school year goes. School here has been out for over a month now.

@CharmedPam - Our thermostats are on timers so it fluctuates. My office is downstairs, so it's usually 76-78 down here in the day. H's office is upstairs and he runs a little warmer, so upstairs is 74. But then in the evening the upstairs goes up to 80 until bedtime, and then the downstairs is 82 overnight. I used to leave it at like 78 in the bedroom overnight, but this year I've started bringing it down to 74. Peri is a bitch.
  • I think if our bedroom window unit was set to 78 neither DH nor I would sleep and then I'd be spending more washing soaked sheets.   So great that the AC is efficient but my washing machine is running more to combat two sweaty beasts.

My apartment was at 72ish.  This house is pretty comfortable anywhere from 75-77, but over that and it's not just hot but the humidity starts to increase and it becomes very uncomfortable very quickly.  Also, I have never liked ceiling fans, I still don't, but I am SO thankful for the ones we put in my spaces.  They've been helpful for me on the nights I get sweaty.
  • We are set at 71-72 most of the summer.  Today, we have windows open and AC off because the storms this week cleared out the hot and humid weather.  It'll be back on by tomorrow.

I'm watching grackles feed their very demanding young.  One of the "kids" might be a cowbird.  Interesting fact, cowbirds are predatory and lay their eggs in other species' nests and abandon the eggs to be raised by other birds.  Sometimes you'll see a little adult finch feeding this big, young cowbird.  Nature is fascinating.

Not much planned here for the weekend.  Likely, going for a ride along the river tomorrow to get out of the house.  There are some nice scenic overlooks and cute little towns along the way.

A river ride sounds really nice @MNNEBride

Enjoy the race on the big screen @VarunaTT!

We ended late bc we also go back late (we return on August 27th), I’m sure you guys go back much earlier in August @MyNameIsNot

I don’t own anything from Halara @CharmedPam but have heard wonderful things about the soft fabric. And the thermostat isn’t officially set to anything bc we don’t have central AC, but the one that I use for the heat says 70 right now. It feels comfortable. M-W when we had our 90+ heatwave the same thermostat read 85 🥵 so I turned the window ACs on to low cool, which should get us to mid-high 60s. I like having/needing a blanket to sleep to that works.

edit- wasn’t done typing when it posted
  • Okay what I’d prefer to set the temp to? 68 (winter or summer!) but we don’t have AC so it’s window units and fans for us until July 7 when we get a mini split put in our first floor. I think 70-72 is fine but H runs hot and I worry about the boys getting overheated.

It’s been a week. J is doing better but still not 💯 so he’s waking up early and is fairly cranky whenever I’m not holding him. No big plans for the weekend here.
  • Good luck staying healthy yourself @charlotte989875!

Tomorrow is a free day likely trying to get family time together and some standard Saturday cleaning.  Sunday we have Mass and then split up as Chiquito has a birthday party and Chiquita needs to move into camp.

DH and I were supposed to go to a concert Sunday but he sold the tickets since he's been feeling awful and a late night would make it worse.  The band just did a collaboration with an ice cream company and I splurged ordering some for delivery so I'm hoping my tracking is reliable and it shows up today.

  • H is at Symphony on the Prairie tonight - I decided to stay home due to back and hip issues. I didn't want to walk on uneven ground and sit on unstable chairs. It is a retrospective of Fleetwood Mac music so I would have enjoyed it. I told him to go ahead and go.

We set our thermostat at 72-73 in the summer. Since I have gone off HRT I have been having hot flashes again. No fun!

I've been getting the house cleaned the last few days. I can only do a portion at a time due to aforementioned back and hip. This weekend I have laundry to do and Italian conversation class tomorrow. Church on Sunday. I also need to finish a book for our church bookclub which meets Monday night. I had my other bookclub yesterday. We met at a restaurant for lunch. It was a lot of fun. We usually meet in homes so it was a nice change.
