Hump Day

How’s everyone today?

Re: Hump Day

  • SSDD for me. Well, a bunco party tonight. It was sooooo nice to stay home after the travel and busy weekend. My house still feels messy, but most of it is halloween costumes thrown on my guest room bed. I even have one more coming tomorrow for Friday. I don’t mind spending $$$ in four different halloween costumes this year. But Christmas? Nope. Not spending a dime on that. And I like Christmas and all that, but it’s just not my jam like this holiday is. Can we make it a Federal holiday please?

  • We got new computers at work and I have never seen a laptop need so many goddamn updates. Why am I having to restart and update my computer multiple times a week? It slows me down so much.

Otherwise, SSDD. I’m tired today. I feel like I could sleep three more hours.

  • Finally did not have insomnia last night.

Chiquito is in a funk about Halloween so I'm taking him to Spirit tonight followed by Panera for dinner in the hope that it helps both find a costume and put him in a better mood.

Tomorrow DH has an MRI and I'm nervous for him.  The hope is to find out what's going on and at the same time, that it's not serious.  Vibes are appreciated!
  • I've been exhausted this week too. Going to bed early and also been sleeping ~30 minutes later than usual. My back is so tight i've got a major headache. Stretching and neck massager before bed tonight for sure.

Just starting season 2 of "nobody wants this" - i loved the first one so hopefully the second is just as good!

Thought I was done traveling for the year, but had a couple short things come up, so out of town a couple nights next week, then again right before Thanksgiving and 2nd week of Dec. So close to status on United, i'm booking suboptimal flights just to stay with them so hopefully get some perks next year. Fingers crossed.

Haircuts and out to dinner after school today, family pictures on Sunday!
  • I forced myself into bed last night at an appropriate time.  It still took me awhile to get to sleep, but I managed to stay asleep for most of it and slept until 730.  It was nice and I don't feel like the walking dead today. Just have a walk tonight and need to cook.

Otherwise, SSDD.  I've made a couple of decisions that will help me out and get my feet back on a good path.  I've got my mother's gift picked out and pre-ordered.  She'll get it early b/c it's a beautiful Christmas wreath.  I'm buying my friend who helped me so much this year NFL tickets b/c his favorite team is playing the Chiefs on Christmas Day.  Thankfully, I don't have to go , our other friend is going with him.
  • I didn't get the kitchen floor mopped yesterday so hopefully I can get it done today. I had a stretch session and massage this morning. I think my back is feeling a bit better. I'm hoping it continues in that direction so that I can avoid surgery.

My best friend from college and I are making plans to celebrate our birthdays this year. We are 19 days apart. Looks like we are going to NYC. I haven't been there in years but she has been there much more recently. We are looking to see a couple of plays. It will be a long weekend as opposed to the almost week long trips we take with two other gals every year.

Our club ( we won a year's membership at a fund raiser at a club we belong to when the kids were at home) is having a fried chicken dinner tonight. They use to have delicious fried chicken. I never make it at home because of well it's fried and makes a mess. I hope it is as good as I remember seeing as I never have fried chicken.

It's definitely getting chilly here. I need to break out the sweaters.
  • Tired and dragging here too. It's been pouring for the last 72 hours and it's actually chilly outside. It feels more like winter than fall.

We took a long weekend and did a backpacking trip. My sister and I finished the rest of the Georgia section of the AT, and then we took along our husbands and my dog for fun. I think doggo had the time of her life; neighborhood walks are just beneath her now. That's going to be it for 2025, so I finished cleaning everything up and putting it away on lunch.

Nothing much else going on. I'm trying to settle back into work, but I'm realizing we really are coming up on the end of the year and so much is still unsettled for 2026 after the latest reorg. Not that I need anything else to make me anxious in the shitshow that is living in the US circa 2025.
