It’s Monday again!

My weekend was great. Sunday I saw “The Producers” at a small local venue which also happened to be on Mel Brooks’ 100th birthday! It was fantastic. One of the better musicals I saw in awhile and definitely the best production they ever put on.  I wish it was still going on because my parents come in on the 10th and would love it.

I went to the comedian Greg Warren on Saturday. Funny stuff, but his older material was a bit better. Someone with an (approx) 8 year old sat right behind me. Greg Warren is clean and PG 13 but this kid was probably the only kid there. He shriek laughed. In my ear. It was actually hurting my ear drum. It was such an exaggerated high pitch laugh and so obviously obnoxious and uncalled for it actually ruined the show for me. The parents COULD have told the kid to calm down on the laughter but they didn’t. I felt like that was irresponsible on their part because he wasn’t even shrieking on the funny lines. He was just doing it to do it. Like, kid, you don’t get that joke. You don’t know what influenza A is.  I just found out what that was 6 years ago. Also, Greg Warren is funny - but he’s not that funny. Even to people who get the humor. My friend I talked to later about it mentioned that maybe the kid could have been on the spectrum? But I still feel you can say something to help them when they’re in public.
Other than high shrill shriek kid, weekend was great!

Weekend was mostly good. We had FIL's birthday party on Saturday. SIL A and her H came over to help which was nice except BIL A complained the whole time and was definitely showing off some weaponized incompetence. At one point I asked him to put up some decor and he started whining, "I just can't figure out how to do it!" I told him as an adult I was confident he had the tools to figure it out. He did not figure it out so that part of the decorating didn't get done because I refused to do it for him. He is pushing SIL so hard to have kids and I just want to shake her and be like what part of how he acts tells you he'll in any way be a good partner and father if you have kids. He also broke our shower and didn't tell us and that was annoying too.

But otherwise we had a really nice party. H's Aunt and Uncle that we rarely see came out and got a hotel so they could make it. It was really nice of them. I also get the spidey sense that they're more politically aligned with H and I than the rest of the family so it would be great if we could foster that relationship more. I think FIL had a nice time and my mom was even pretty well behaved and didn't get sucked into her normal negativity. We played some yard games and she was so good at them I couldn't believe it. She hit almost every bullseye on our (Costco, non-lethal) axe throwing game. The only other bummer for the weekend was I sliced my thumb open on a can of coconut cream that I was using for pina coladas. It needed a stitch but I didn't want to leave the party so I did my best to manage it without a trip to UC. I was so mad I couldn't find my medical grade glue or steri strips anywhere in the house. First aid stuff is only useful when you can actually find it, lol. I hope it's closed enough for my manicure this Sunday. My body has been an absolute mess this month between the thumb, my foot, and my varicose vein removal.

  • Weekend was good. Had a wedding for one of H’s good friends on Saturday; I drove so I didn’t drink but they had excellent desserts and good music. H was hurting yesterday so I took the boys to the zoo. It’s starting to get hot here and I’m not a fan. We are expecting very high (for us) temps this week. M started summer camp today and was so excited! I dropped him off and he ran right up to join the group. I’m guessing he’s going to come home hot, tired, but full of stories he  needs us to know.

Oh I love the producers @charmedpam, how fun!
Ouch, sorry about your finger @levioosa Glad that the party was fun otherwise
Happy first day of camp M! @charlotte989875 two of my nephews (well, they’re my cousin’s sons, but we’re close) started a week of football camp at the Bills complex / Bills-sponsored today. The boys are convinced they’ll be training directly with Josh Allen lol. Made me think of you!

We survived the weekend of parties. ExH’s family were super nice to me, thrilled to see the kids, thanked me for attending even though they thought exH should’ve attended. The kids enjoyed seeing their great grandmother turn 90, did better in Spanish than they thought and had a fun time overall. The first birthday yesterday was very sweet and also fun.

ExH blew off another passport appointment for the kids this morning. Between that and the fact that I’m getting close to $1400pp roundtrip airfare for Europe  vs $200pp for Orlando, our April’27 trip may well be Universal and Disney instead of London and Paris. Which I’m okay with, as long as I can find a way to block the constant “why take your kids to Disney when you can take them to the Eiffel Tower” reels that live in my algorithm 🤪

Especially when....you can't legally.  I'm so sorry that's massively frustrating.

FWIW we had to pivot a GS trip because there's a kid in Chiquita's troop and due to too many logistical issues we had to change destination.

  • I love that @ei34! The players usually make a few appearances at the camps!
