My weekend was great. Sunday I saw “The Producers” at a small local venue which also happened to be on Mel Brooks’ 100th birthday! It was fantastic. One of the better musicals I saw in awhile and definitely the best production they ever put on. I wish it was still going on because my parents come in on the 10th and would love it.
I went to the comedian Greg Warren on Saturday. Funny stuff, but his older material was a bit better. Someone with an (approx) 8 year old sat right behind me. Greg Warren is clean and PG 13 but this kid was probably the only kid there. He shriek laughed. In my ear. It was actually hurting my ear drum. It was such an exaggerated high pitch laugh and so obviously obnoxious and uncalled for it actually ruined the show for me. The parents COULD have told the kid to calm down on the laughter but they didn’t. I felt like that was irresponsible on their part because he wasn’t even shrieking on the funny lines. He was just doing it to do it. Like, kid, you don’t get that joke. You don’t know what influenza A is. I just found out what that was 6 years ago. Also, Greg Warren is funny - but he’s not that funny. Even to people who get the humor. My friend I talked to later about it mentioned that maybe the kid could have been on the spectrum? But I still feel you can say something to help them when they’re in public.
Other than high shrill shriek kid, weekend was great!
