Cost of Florist for Newport Wedding?

I'm getting married in Newport at Castle Hill, end of summer wedding.  I'm trying to put together a budget but have no idea how much florists cost.  I'm not ready to pick a color yet, so I can't exactly say what types of flowers I want (and I know that price varies by type of flower), although I'm leaning toward light blue/lilac as a color.  I do know that I don't like large centerpieces on the tables because then the guests can't see each other.  Can anyone give me a range for the cost of flowers for church ceremony + Castle Hill reception?  The florist doesn't have to be someone located in/near Newport (I'd actually prefer someone not located in Newport because Newport vendors tend to be overpriced).

Thanks!

I am actually leaning towards Toni Chandler who is based in Newport.  I checked out a few florists outside of Newport and got around the same price but Toni's work stands out to me.  Another great option is Golden Gate Studios.  Jay is a great guy with amazing vision.  One of the reasons why I liked Toni a little more had a lot to do with the fact that I had hired all male vendors up until this point.  Talking to her was very refreshing to me.  No matter who you choose Castle Hill is a wonderful choice for a venue.  Good luck with your planning and I hope this helped!

Toni Chandler and Jay from Golden Gate are both very talented! Jay cranks out wedding flowers like a machine (he's got a big staff) while Toni does no more than 2 weddings a week so she books up much more quickly. I think the detail work she does is exceptional. Jay is over the top but in a good way. Unfortunately I was late with booking Toni. I'm consider using two different florists as I am having two weddings in one day which makes the logistics difficult. Other notable and relatively inexpensive florists include Florals by Alisa, Blooming Blossom and Studio 539 (Toni's daughter, Christine is the head floral designer and owner of this boutique so she has tons of fresh and creative ideas) They will all work within your budget. Pam from Blooming Blossom is super sweet and has the patience of saint - she will do weddings big or very small. Lastly, Jen Cahill from Tangled Web (doesn't get mention much on R.I board but super popular on MA/Boston board). All the reviews from past brides can be found via weddingwire.com or just ask another Knottie.

    G.L!

Flower budgets really cover a wide spectrum. From past posts on here some girls have spent around $1000 and then there are people that spend much much more. I budgeted $1700 for flowers and didn't have a problem staying within that. I had 11 tables, five BMs, my bouquet, the grooms, a couple ceremony arrangements, fireplace arrangments, and a bunch of small stuff. It really depends on the type of flowers you want to use and the size of the arrangments. For example if you want to go crazy with orchids and cala lillys it is going to cost more. As mentioned above many of the florists are capable of working in practically any budget. Even if you don't have your colors picked out I would have an idea of the overall look and type of flowers you want to use when you go to meet with the florists. This will help them give you a more accurate estimate.

hi there, i actually got married at castle hill in august and our colors were lilac and ivory! we went with golden gate studios and used roses, hydrangea and a few other flowers. we also did not want huge centerpieces. since we had 20 tables we alternated a good sized centerpiece on half the tables and then the others had black rod iron candle lanterns with two small breakaways on either wide.

jay is the nicest guy and easy to work with. they did forget to put stones in the bottom of our arrangements which we paid for and the arrangements looked smaller than the sample we saw. i'd give them a b+. i would recommend them but would also recommend you are crystal clear with what you want.

flowers were not our most important factor and our budget was around 2500. we had 8 bridesmaids/groomsmen, 1 flower girl, 1 ring bearer, 4 parents, 1 gma, 10 centerpieces, 20 small breakaways, roses petals down the aisle, and flowers for the arch at castle hill. i did all lavender roses for my bouquet and did a mix of ivory and lavender for the girls.

    best of luck!

It really depends what your looking for and how much you want to spend. I am getting married in June in Newport and I am using Janice from Sprigs on Main Street in East Greenwich. She is really great to work with and will create a look  based on what you want and what you want to spend. If you have a budget you want to stick to she will work with you to choose a combination of gorgeous and inexpensive flowers to get the look you want at the price you can afford.
