Cupcake Brides

Our plan is to set up a cupcake buffet for 100 guests with an assortmant of flavors. My questions are:

-How many cupcakes should we get for 100 people(how many would you try)?
-How many different flavors should we have(how many is too many)?

Yes we've asked each baker as we do our tastings but curious what thoughts are from someone else that I'm not paying for their product :)

Hmm, this is not scientific at all, but I often hear that people skip dessert. Then again, I've been at weddings where guys will grab an extra slice of cake! I would maybe get 15 percent more than you need - that way there's one for everyone if they want it and extras for those who want to try another flavor - and maybe three flavors at the most. And it wouldn't be terrible if there were a few extras for a late night snack. Wink

We had a cupcake tower and it was a hit w/ our guests... we had 200 cupcakes for 150 guests... and we did 4 different flavors (red velvet topped w/ cream cheese frosting, devils food filled w/ cookies & cream topped w/ buttercream frosting, carrot cake topped w/ cream cheese frosting, lemon cake filled w/ lemon curd topped with buttercream frosting).

We had the cupcakes set up in a "serve yourself" style w/ a framed image stating which flavor of cupcake was which.  Some people took 2... some took 1.  We only had a few left when all was said and done and it was really a nice late night snack!  Let me see if I can post some pics for you...

Thanks ladies. Like you said we would rather have a little extra for late night snacking than not enough.
Tana- i was hoping you would chime in on how your serve yourself cupcake "buffet" went. Your flavors sound soo yummy! Thanks for the pics.
