What's and "average" floral budget

So as we know, most budgets on here vary greatly. What some people deem "expensive" others think is a "bargain".

I am wondering what some people think is an "average" price for flowers.

I just started looking at florists and I am getting quotes all over the place- from $1550 to almost $8000.

I feel confusedbecuse I am asking for similar things...
I don't really know what is a "good" price vs a "high" price, since I have NO idea what blooms cost.

I am judging it on when I order FTD haha

Re: What's and "average" floral budget

The quote I got from the vendor I signed with was around $1300. I think that's VERY reasonable. But, then again, my flowers are pretty simple. I got a a quote from another vendor that was almost 3x as much. So, you're right, they're all over the place. Sometimes you pay for the name or location. My recommendation would be to ask lots of questions to understand what you're getting, then decide what's important to you, and go with your gut. Good luck!

I think flowers are the hardest thing to get an "average" for.  It really depends on the types of flowers, how many flowers, centerpieces, ceremony decor and bridal party, etc.

That being said, from what I've seen (and polled, I did a poll on the budget board some months ago when I was meeting w/florists) it seems like the average floral budget on these boards is $1500 - $2000

We're spending $900 w/Pam at Blooming Blossoms.  My flowers consist of creams, whites and greens, using hydrangea, dahlias, roses and succulents.
5 Centerpieces (the other 5 tables are lanterns with candles)
    2 bouquets (mine and MOH)
4 corsages (MOB, MOG and grandmas)
    6 boutonierres

I probably could've gotten away with spending a little less, but I bought pretty big, square metal containers to put the floral centerpieces in...thus using more flowers.

    Here's my inspiration;

    Thanks this is helpful.
I am getting quotes on 4 rather really large ceneterpieces that I anticipated being pricey. But for the simple small florals I wasn't expecting to spend over $100!

I anticpated a boutineere would run me 10-12$ not almost $20

So I think I have a little more shopping around to do!

    Yep, it can be shocking.

I think my boutonierres were $20
    Corsages $25
    My Bouquet $185
    MOH $100
the rest all goes to centerpieces.

Good luck!  and post your inspiration :)

I spent $850 on flowers including tax and delivery to two separate locations. Whole Foods was the most reasonably priced for what I wanted. I was very specific with the type of flower and the color of the blooms. Pam from Blooming Blossoms and Florals by Alisa came in 2nd and 3rd but very close.

9 short centerpieces in square glass vases 4 X 4  with peonies, roses, and crespedia (billy balls). Bear Grass as accent - no other type of greenery or foilage so that meant I was getting more blooms.
1 Bridal Bouquet (medium size) mini cymbidium orchids, roses, peonies, and bear grass loops
    2 pearl wrapped rose corsage
12 bouts - mostly roses with bear grass accent except for the groom and my mom who had mini cymbidium orchids.
1 exotic bouquet - split into two for ceremony centerpiece
1 dozen roses for the ceremony

Flower Thyme in Wakefield - I did not rent any vases or other materials, I went to the dollar store and bought two styles of vases, and she filled the vases for me. I borrowed a bunch of centerpieces flat mirrors to go under the flowers and I bought all the tea light holders.

Basically they kept costs down because I asked her to. She wanted to make me a $200 bouqet, $150 bridesmaids etc. But I didn't want to. I told her my budget and she made what she could with the money. These were the bouquets, nothing too outragous, perfect for what I wanted.

Sorry I don't have my professional pics completly back yet, but this picture is a better view of my bouqet. So it's still a decent size, I don't feel like it was too small.

In line with the lower end, we spent just a few bucks under $1k for flowers, from Wholefoods (waterman st. - Shelbie is great!), but we had minimal flowers, no exotic flowers.  However, where we had them, they were nice (and full bouquets for the girls):

    8 Bouquets
    10 boutineers
    4 corsages
6 small pew flowers (1 rose & some greenery)
15 tables with a combo of "props" and flowers - between $5 and $15/table

I got all the vases, etc. from the dollar store, other brides, or did not use vases, depending on the arrangement...

Hey i2012do (I need to email you back, sorry!),

This is pretty much the last vendor we need to book and I think we're going to wait until we FINALLY get to visit the area in person this October.

So far, I really liked Flowerthyme but found their quote to be a little higher than I wanted (though that was during my initial inquiry in February and they told me they could be completely flexible with it)...will probably schedule an in-person just to get a sense for what she thinks they could get me for my budget (looking to spend no more that $1400, ideally less!).

My top pick right now is Broadway Florist...has anyone used them or have friends who have??  Paul and his wife have seemed super friendly over the phone and their response as to putting down a deposit was very chill "come on in and meet with us in October and put down whatever you feel is a good amount to hold the date."  Um, I wanted to say "five bucks?" but bit my lip, haha... At any rate he told me he could meet my top ceiling of $1400 including tax/tip/delivery.

We are going for a VERY simple palette of traditional periwinkle blue/cream and soft green/cream hydrangea with some cream roses thrown in.  15 centerpieces will be 5x5 glass cube with no greens, very minimal/classy.  Bouquets will be mixture of hydrangea and roses and my bouquet will be slightly larger with all cream hydrangea, some soft green, and very pale pink roses.  Not sure if we're going to do boots yet (hubby to be actually doesn't care either way and we feel that once the guys hit the dance floor they'll just get crushed anyway) but if we do, they're very reasonable.  Ceremony arrangements will be just a few bunches of baby's breath in simple white vases (saw Sayles Livingston do this for another ceremony at South Ferry and the simplicity was shockingly stunning...oooh, say that five times fast; simplicity shockingly stunning...ooops, sorry, back to flowers...).

Good luck and let me know what you find out (sending you an update via email too!).

    Fellow South Ferry/Towers Bride 2012,

P.S. Rachy24, your flowers look pretty similar to what I had in mind for my girls...do you mind me asking what you talked them down to on those?  Love the pics! : )

Also, forgot to mention that I called several Whole Foods but was uneasy that they (a) could not guarantee the price; flowers would be market price upon delivery...ummm, yeah... (b) did not have extensive galleries for reference/pricing.  So even though I've read good things and love their flowers to take home on a whim, I was too uneasy about not knowing how much and what we would get.

<div>hmmm I dealt with only the Whole Foods University in Providence but they gave me an estimate which came below our total bill (two weeks prior to the wedding). </div>

Perhaps I just spoke with a grumpy team member at the Whole Foods University?  That was the first one I called as they are listed most often in reviews, and then I also called a few others.  Will give it another try as I hate to overpay and have read such great things about them, but we have no room in our budget for any last minute surprises (i.e. the flower bill being more than expected).  Thanks for the insight! : )

Try asking for Sherry - if not give Blooming Blossoms a call and ask for Pam, she is also very budget friendly but books quite quickly as she limits the number of weddings she does on a weekend.

These are the exact quotes from my contract. Basically she gave me a list of quotes and I said "Whoa, I'm not spending $200 for a bouqet for myself. That is used just for the ceremony." So, she compromised with me.
    $100 for Bride
    $50 for MOH and Bridesmaids
    $30 for Jr. bridesmaid
    $11 for boutonnieres
    $20 for corsages

Apparently, roses are actually one of the cheapest flowers and light blue hydrageas are much cheaper (1/2 price) to the dark blue hydrageas. Then she added some greenery leaves and these berry type things. I brought in like five or six pictures and she saw my "vision" from there.

    I have:

    7 Groomsmen
    7 Bridesmaid
    1 Junior Bridesmaid
    1 Flower Girl
    1 Ring Bearer
    4 Parents
    4 GodParents
    3 Grandparents
    Flowers for Church
Flowers for Centerpieces using white Hydrangeas and white roses
My Bouquet was probably the most expensive at 170.
    Cake table decor
    Recieving Table decor

All this came out to 2800, which I thought was pretty reasonable. We wanted to stay under 3k so we definately made out. We went to another florist and they wanted to charge us 2k for half of the flowers we are getting.

     Goodluck.

It really depends on the florist.  Our low end quote was $3,000 and the high end was $7,500.
