Haven't heard back from vendors

i am starting to get anxiety because i KNOW it's busy season and everything. But I haven't heard from any of my vendors in months. I haven't even received replies to my e-mails that I have sent with questions. This is happening w multiple vendors and I am starting to get annoyed. Does this mean I am going to have a rush of emails the week of the wedding from all these people?!

Re: Haven't heard back from vendors

  • TBH I am not sure. It did take some of my vendors a couple of weeks to get back to me.  Maybe it is just the season.  I understand the anxiety of it though.  I figured in a few weeks, I would check in with everyone.
  • I feel your pain...sometimes I feel like I have to chase people and i am SO utterly sick of it!  if you read my next post, I'm thinking about scratching everything and doing a destination wedding even though I would loose 3,000 in deposits!!!
  • I didn't deal with my vendors directly the last month or so leading up to my wedding since my day of coordinators handled all communications but they did tell me that vendors do get really busy around this season. A few of them took longer than usual to get back to us on some final details.
  • Usually vendors will follow-up with you 2-3 weeks before the wedding.  I had a hard time getting in touch with people and getting final timelines and I got married in the beginning of May.  My MUA said she doesn't like to work too far ahead, but really focus on the immediate jobs she has instead of worrying about future jobs.  I guess I can understand that, but it can be worrisome when you want to discuss something with a vendor you are paying and they will not respond.

I would forward your original email to your vendors and just say that you wanted to follow back up with them since you hadn't heard from them regarding your prior email and if they had some time to discuss x, y, z with you.  You are paying them for their service, it's not just about the day of, but how you are treated leading up to the day, so I would contact them again a week after if you haven't heard anything.

  • its so annoying to feel like a nag to people. But I have some questions on services before my final paments are due- so its like am I supposed to wait until then/ I know they are busy with other brides that have weddings liek tomorrow and next week. But you are right LOML its about the complete service- we are paying these people a TON of money

  • i could not agree more with this just in the aspect of my hair/makeup people - everyone else is great. no problems- but i am getting very very frustrated with the hair and makeup that i have booked for myself and 2 moms and 3 BMs. i booked with a salon that i have been going to for about a year. i corresponded with the owner back in november and everything was good - we settled on the time, gave deposit etc. i recently received an e-mail from them "confirming" the times. well the e-mail had all the times wrong, i e-mailed back with the correct times - no answer. i then called a few weeks later - to try and talk to someone - receptionist told me she would check with someone and get back to me - nothing.
i called this morning and left a not so nice message. (it could have been worse) and it will if i dont get a call again. i would have waited until my next regular apmt on 7/31 but in case they book other apmts i dont want to get screwed - although as a co-worker pointed out to me - my 6 apmts with big $$ being spent should take over someone just getting a haircut.
i was trying read the contract but basically it says with less than 90 days - if i cancelled - i would get charged for every service scheduled. my co-worker thinks that there should/would be a breach of contract somewhere but i dont see one. i really dont want to give my business to a place that cant even get back to me.

i have been helping out a friend who recently got engaged look for hair and makeup since i told her to not go to my place - i wish i could drop them but i dont think i can. worst part about all this is that my stylist is such a sweetheat. i wish the rest of the place would get its act together.
phew- sorry to take over your post!
    needed to vent!!
    thanks :)
  • i2012do - one of the things that was so hard was that I didn't want to be a bother, but it's like I am hiring you and you will be 'working' for me, so if I don't feel like I'm being treated right it sours and worries you about how it'll go the day of or if I made the right decision picking you.  Everyone is sweet and quick to respond before you book, but once you've put a deposit down or paid, it's almost like you get moved to the back burner until it's your day.

When I was doing my vendor reviews, I tried to remember things like that, who was helpful getting back to me, who checked in and wanted to know how the wedding planning was going, and who I had to chase down because they were 'too busy'.  I mean I get it, I have busy days and don't always return calls, but this is your reputation on the line.  If you work in the service industry - YOU HAVE TO GIVE GOOD SERVICE, no if, ands, or buts about it.

  • LOMLBOAT - see my other post in this thread and you will appreciate this since i know you had kristin greene.
its kinda a long story -but she is a SAINT. that is all.
my salon i mention above finally called me back...and guess what?! they booked another bride at the time i thought i would be there- but "don't worry" i will get done on time. YEAH RIGHT. i booked this in november!!! needless to say- i was talking to kristin when they were not being responsive- she was free for my date - miracle - and then i told her i couldnt go because the contract with the other place said i couldn't if its less than 90 days - i couldnt cancel.
so bad salon calls me today - tell me about the double booking crap -
i cancel them - and immediately call kristin -
she is still free and more than willing to help -
    she was SO SWEET.
i am so happy to give my money to someone who is reliable and has a good reputation.
    omg what a morning.
and i am trying to do all this from work without getting caught.
    omg
  • Kristin is a saint!!  She really goes above and beyond, she does excellent work and she's wonderful to be around the day of your wedding.  She was fun, making us laugh, making us beautiful, she was just the perfect personality to compliment our morning and keep us relaxed.

I can't wait for a big night out or a friend's bachelorette party so I can book her to make me beautiful again lol!

  • URI--totally sucks about your hair salon. I definitely would never go back there again.   So glad you found someone else..  Hopefully, they aren't charging you anything.  Thankfully, hair is the one thing I have zero worries about--my friend owns a salon in Newport and is doing my hair.
  • jdandrea - oh never again. i am all set with them. worst thing of all is i am telling my MOH this story via email this morning and she tells me she booked them tomorrow to hang out and do nail party for my bachelorette. i felt terrible but i made her cancel. they were bitchy to her at first- but she demanded her $50 deposit she put down on the party.
i am going to kristin's studio tonight - to give her the deposit.
    thank god.
and yes, I am going to make sure i dont get charged from bad salon.
  • lomlboat- i am super excited to work with her. i wanted the airbrush all along and someone to come to the house. i cant wait :)
  • URI--I hope you at least got an apology or something from the owner--that type of behavior is ridiculous--especially when for most hair salons word of mouth and these types of message boards can kill them
  • uri! I am so glad that you booked kristin! She is doing my makeup as well, and my moms and furture mother in laws.
I can not wait to have it done with her. Every time I am with her it is like being witha  great friend. We chat and laugh and i feel totally comofortable with her
IF there is EVER a lag in her communication it is prompty followed up with an "im sorry, so busy" or she posts on FB that she is bogged down and always gets back to people's emails when she says she will.

The two vendors I was referring to above are two of the biggest vendors on that day. And one is like by far one of hte most popular vendors discussed on this board- so I was pretty upset about it
but i actually heard back from them today.

On the other hand, my photographer doesnt get back to me right right away. But it doesnt bug me--- I guess because everything with her is pretty straight forward and i KNOW ill eventually get an answer.

  • jdandrea - well the first time i spoke with the owner - i told her i would think about what i wanted to do - she would work with the other bride - etc.
i then called back to flat out cancel - left a message for the owner to call me and it was my stylist that called.
i asked to speak with the owner -and after asking about 3 times- she finally put her on.
i told her i wanted to cancel - and she said that she would accomodate my group - we would start when i wanted and be done when i wanted.
still not believing this and wanting nothing to do with them at this point, i just said - i am more comfortable cancelling.
she tried to sweet talk me - i didnt budge.
i cancelled everthing and she told me she would keep my deposit - $200 i fought her a little on it and after she got rude with me - i didnt even care i dont wanna deal with it - i just want to get out of that place and never look back.

i2012 - so excited to meet kristin and book with her-  i love the idea she does hair now and will travel to me - and makes goodie bags and seems super sweet. i cant wait!
as far as my cut and color since again, i am never going back - i used to live in CT and called my old stylist who i saw for 10 yrs and LOVED - she told me not to worry and i booked an apmt with her -
after the wedding i will look for a new salon for cut and color all together.
but i wont go back there- or to any salon in newport even.
a lot of my co workers go in wakefield  - i just might get the name.
    what a headache!
  • im having the same problems. some vendors arent being as responsive but others yes. Took me awhile to finally get ahold the hairdressor to confirm the time. Well i got attitude cause she said i told her 10am when they open i told get i didnt know a time at the point i had a trial in apr. but probably earlier. I have kristin greene for makeup and it prob would have been less stressful to have for hair too. Now only if the pastor would get back to me so i can finish the program and they have veto any music i like for the walk dwn the aisle guess ill be doing the generic no a thousand years...which i thought could be done piano or organ sigh.
Im working crazy hours and weekends too whic is so not helping all.

So annoying!I am having the same issue with my church and the music. I am trying to figure out the timing and its tough to do it alone! I keep trying to think about how long each song is and figure out if i need more music or not..
