Ceremony Decorations in a Hotel

Hello!

We decided we wanted to have the ceremony and reception in the same place (at a hotel), which leaves us in a conference room type area for the ceremony. I want to spruce it up without spending a lot of extra money - they include chairs (normal blue and gold conference chairs) a stage, and some white backdrop - that's it. Any suggestions? Specifically for things that are easy to put up and take down as they may re-book the room after my ceremony (we'll move to the big ballroom for the reception). Thank you!

  • hobby lobby rents arch and other deco items.  I would go take a look.
  • I would try to use decorations that will do double-duty with your recpetion ballroom.   Maybe you could do some large flower arangments on stands at the front, that can then be put on buffet tables (if you're doing a buffet) or dessert tables.   Maybe you could decorate the aisle with some small bouquets of gathered flowers hanging from the chairs, then use these to decorate the chairs for your head table/sweatheart table at the reception.

  • We also had our ceremony and reception in the same location.  The venue had a small table we placed up front.  It was draped with the lace cloth my great-grandmother had made for my mom and dad's wedding (it was used on the church altar).  We had a simple floral arrangement and then we had pictures of each of our parents on their wedding days on the table.  Both are still alive and happily married for over 40 years each.  We wanted their pictures there as reminders of what long-lasting marriage looks like.  The photos and floral arragement were moved to a side table with other family photos for the reception.

  • We are also having our ceremony in a hotel as well as the reception. I bought an arch at hobbylobby when it was 50% off (only $15) way cheaper than renting them from hobbylobby. We are going to decorate it with tulle and lace in our colors. We are also having a bold red aisle runner and we might add some bows to the rows of chairs and thats about all were doing.

  • Thanks for the responses. I especially love the idea about photos of the parents on wedding days. Not always easy with the unfortunate divorce rate. But how sentimental. I'll look into rentals as well - I know the hotel has a linen/decoration place they work with so I'll try that.

it just looks so much like a conference room.... it shouldn't be a big deal because it doesn't matter where it is, it's who you're marrying. Still....

Thanks so much for the ideas though!

  • Why not bring the outside in. You can get branches to line the aisles like you're walking under trees
