Photography... on a budget?

Hi all,

Just curious if some of you would mind posting your recommendations for photographers. I don't like having my picture taken, so I didn't think a photographer was a top priority, but my family, the groom, and the groom's family are all about having wonderful pictures. I think "we" want a mixture of the photo-journalistic & some formal shots. If you wouldn't mind posting what you're getting (1 photog or 2, # of hours of coverage, engagements, bridals, etc) and what you're paying, I'd appreciate it!

    Hi Brandi,

I used Laura Jenkins and Ashley Smith from AL Collective and my photos turned out amazing! I am so happy with them and would recommend them to anyone.

It was two professional photographers and I think they were there 3-4 hours (I don't remember - it was all a blur!) We also did an engagement shoot and groomals (kind of like a "we did it shoot" or bridals withthe groom). We got a DVD with all our images and there are so many I can't count (hundreds!).

Ashley and Laura are old friends and former co-workers of mine, so they gave me a good deal. But I know that their base price is $1895.

If that's still above your budget, email me at sweeting09@gmail.com and I may have some other "budget-friendly" suggestions for you.

Hope that helps - good luck!

Mine is J. Mark Photography - love them. Husband and wife team (two to cover my day!!) I get them for 7 hours, doing a wonderful album and they provide a live photobooth for my guests free. I think I am more excited about that for my guests than anything. I am paying for the wedding myself. (except dress and flowers) and worked tons of overtime to do it - so I am penny pinching.  Plus the fact that I wanted a traditional photobooth and it is not in my budget. CD and services is 1750, add in the album which I really want 2300.

I am using Old World Studios (www.oldworldstudios.net). Margie and her husband (I believe) do the photographing. They did my friend's wedding and they do amazing work.

We are having an engagement session (for free!) and having them there on the wedding day. Right now I think we planned for six hours of coverage that day (so some pre-wedding, ceremony and reception) for $1400. I believe their highest tier is unlimited coverage day of the wedding for $2000.

We get all the proofs, and digital versions of our pictures.

Greg McBoat is FABULOUS!  He is from Denver, where I got married, but honestly he and his wife are so good they are worth booking as "destination."  I have had so many people book him since they saw my pictures and they have  been all over the country!  You get more with their package for the price then most other people.  And trust me I contacted almost 30+ people when I started my search.

They will be in Austin for a friend's wedding next July.

Tell him Katie Milo sent you to him and he'll take extra good care of you!
