Reception venues - opinions?

We are looking into booking a restaurant for our venue, has anyone had any experience, with a large group, with any of the following restaurants? We will have between 40-50 people. Or do you have any suggestions for venue that can accommodate that size of a group?

1. Maggiano's
2. Siena Ristorante
3. County Line on the Lake
4. The Oasis (we are looking at some of the private rooms they offer)
5. Moonshine

Thanks!

We are having our rehearsal dinner at Maggianos. Tracie has been super helpful and the food there is amazing! The rooms are beautiful and the price is not so bad! Hope that helps also, we looked into the oasis I loved the view but the rooms were layed out a little funny (just my opinion)

I went to a rehearsal dinner at the Maggiano's in Houston 6 years ago.  I recall the food being delish and the decor/atmosphere was classy and elegant.

Some other suggestions: Iron Cactus downtown, if you're wanting more casual and easy access to 6th street for post-dinner partying.  And we'll be having our rehearsal dinner at Z Tejas on west 6th...it has a casual but classy atmosphere.  They've been very flexible on our menu choices.  I do know that both of these are totally affordable and can easily seat your party size.

I've heard Carmellos is also a good place for a reception.  Let us know what you find out in your research.  I'm at the very beginning and any info is helpful.  Thanks.

We decided to do the whole thing, ceremony & reception, at Maggiano's. The food is good, the banquet rooms are nice, and the price is just right. It's very inexpensive. They are letting bring in cupcakes which is one of the things we really wanted. We are also just using an ipod for music which is really helping out with costs. They aren't charging us any special fees or charges to set up or tear down or just because we are a group. That was one of the biggest factors and then when we found out that they would set a second banquet room for us for the ceremony we were sold. We fount that most restaurants had upcharges for groups, in addition to tax and gratuity, and we just didnt want to spend it.
