The Mansion in Voorhees....

I seem to be all over the place with finding a venue...uuuggghhhh...:)  Anyone have any info on the Mansion in Voorhees?  I have the dinner package info...looking more for experiences there.  How is the food?  How is the customer service?  Overall experience of having an event there.  Thanks!

I went to a wedding there and to be honest me and my FI did not like the food. But it may have just been their selections. The cocktail hour was good and so we didn't mind that dinner wasn't that great. It is a beautiful venue though...the ceremony room was gorgeous.

We are getting married there on February 20th. We have our taste testing on the 15th of July.... so I can let you know then! =)  I've heard the food is pretty good. The ambiance is lovely and everyone I've spoke to has been helpful. My one complaint is they seem to have their "taste testing's" very unorganized. My friend went to one a few months ago and there was only enough seats for half the people that attended. Then when I spoke to my wedding coordinator last week regarding something else, I said how I was looking forward to the taste testing. And she replied back saying how the date was changed and pushed back a week. I was never informed and would have known until I showed up. Apparently all the people who had "rsvp'ed" were never kept track of.

    Good luck!

The place is beautiful. The one thing I didn't like about it is that you are pretty much screwed if you cancel. I asked about their cancellation policy and the woman told me that if you book here don't cancel because you're responsible for ALL revenue that would be coming in on that day. No matter if you're cancelling a year or a month prior. Just want to let you ladies know that before you book it. I also don't like places that won't let you try to food before you book. You pay such a big deposit but you don't know how the food tastes? That to me is risky. But to each is own... GL!

FI's HS reunion was there, and we weren't happy with the food either.  Hopefully, it would be better for a wedding, but it wasn't very good at the reunion...

I went there for a baby shower. It was ok at best. I liked the look of it, but thought it was too much going on for my taste and the food was bleh. Thats just my opinion though. Maybe they do something different for weddings.

I'm getting married there in 45 days!  I've been to two brunches, two tastings (1 individual and 1 group) and multiple other "events" that they hosted.  I dont love all their food (particularly the sides, they're too rich) but the entrees we tasted were really good.  We actually went to the brunch on Sunday before booking/making the deposit.

Northstar - You're responsible for the lost revenue... UNLESS someone else books that day.  So, if you decide to cancel a year out, there's a good chance someone else might pick up your date, and all you'll lose is the deposit.  I saw similar policy/contract language at other venues too when I was looking.

Delia - I was at the first group tasting and it was very unorganized.  The invitation was for 1 or 2 people, and some came in big groups or brought the whole family!  I think there was a miscommunication on how many people would be there.  The fact that some people see "free food" and make it a free for all didn't help.  I was more disgusted with the other guests than I was with the Mansion staff.

I feel that some of the staff are more schmoozy than they are organized.  I guess that works for some people, but not me.  If anyone plans to have an event coordinator or DOC, I wouldn't worry about it.  I dont have either and I'm confident that our wedding will be perfectly fine.

    Good luck!

I'm getting married there in 26 days so I've had almost all of the experiences of planning a wedding with them.  As with a lot of other venues, there seems to be a heavy turnover of wedding coordinators.  The first woman we booked left about halfway through planning.  That's fine, but the new woman doesn't seem to have it together.  We still don't have a BEO, she made us call a place for different chairs and she gave us a really hard time when we asked for linens that were not the "Standard" offering (black and ivory are standard; I'm wearing white and our colors are black, white and pink, so I asked for WHITE and it was a hassle to make it happen.)  Our coordinator is slow to return calls and emails and seems to be overworked.  Our FIRST coordinator was totally on top of things, so I think all of these problems have less to do with the Mansion and more to do with this particular woman.

Something that does have to do with the Mansion is that, last week, they cancelled our rehearsal.  We were told that if something got booked that day, we would not be able to rehearse, but we thought that at 4 weeks from the wedding, we were in the clear.  NOPE.  We will NOT rehearse at the Mansion, we will rehearse at our hotel in a ballroom (which the Mansion booked and paid for, natch).  This kind of messes up our rehearsal dinner plans, but...I suppose we were told that we could be bumped at any time.  Just food for thought.

    On a brighter note:
Our tasting, I thought, was great.  I thought the food at the tasting (which we selected beforehand and tasted at the brunch on Sunday) was excellent and it was hard to choose.  Also, we were treated like royalty while we were at our tasting.  It was only me, FI, mom and dad at the tasting; I don't know why you would need more than that, really.

Their vendor suggestions were top-notch and they have great spaces that you can make your own.  The ceremony pavillion is extremely beautiful.  The grounds and overall ambiance is great.  If I had to do it again, I would still go with the Mansion.  The price is (more or less) right, the service has been fine and while I have had some gripes, I have no doubt that the wedding will run smoothly and be as awesome as I see it happening in my head.

Feel free to PM me or ask more questions.  I hope I don't deter you from the Mansion.  It's beautiful and I'm sure these and other problems arise no matter where you have you wedding.  Good luck!

I'm actually having my wedding there in 5 weeks I went a little crazy as well when the coordinator left mid way thtough which was rather strange because she had been there for years. Well I have had a great time with my coordinator and she returns calls etc... I have had to deal with many vendors rentals etc... and The Mansion by far has been the least stressfull. I didn't get to taste the food during my tasting because I was sick my FI liked what he had but I had always heard mixed reviews about their food.  I have been to many weddings low budget to high end (Boca Raton million dollar wedding) and I have never been to ecstatic over the food. It always seems like they miss the mark when they have to make the entrees in large quantities-I don't know. However I love the venue but I do think they need to upgrade their chairs-they are quite dirty and I had to rent chivaris but other than that I love our coordinator and would recommend the Mansion to anyone. I also have a friend who was in the wedding and she said wedding day ran sooo smoothly I also have a wedding coordinator so if the Mansion slips up she will step in. We will do as much preparation as possible but I know you can't prep for everything!

Does anyone know off-hand the price per person at the Mansion, Voorhees?
Do they charge different price for Fri, Sat & Sunday?
