marriage license

can I apply for one yet if my wedding is Sept. 25th?

    i think you have to wait until 30 days before!!

    You can apply for a marriage license 6 months before your wedding. However, do not pick it up until a week or so before your wedding. Once you pick it up you only have 30 days to get it back before it expires. HTHs

    so do both of you have to fill out a app or is one app good for the both of us?

    According to the website link I provided above, you have to go in with your FI and fill it out together, and you need to bring a witness over the age of 18 with you.

    Yes, Musicheals is correct. You both need to be present to sign the app and a witness must also be present.  The whole process is pretty quick though, we  did it on my husband's lunch break.  You will be out in ten minutes!

    Yep, it's pretty easy... make sure you both go, take a witness, and make sure to do it in the township where one of you lives.  : ) You can print the application out online and take it in filled in, to speed things up... don't forget to both have ID too!

    What if you don't live in the state?  J and I live in California, but we are getting married in NJ, as that is where my family is from.

    shortee426.......I am in the same boat!  We currently live in VA.  I need to figure this out soon since I am getting married this october.  Still need to find someone to marry us as well!

    If neither applicant is a New Jersey resident, submit the application in the municipality where the marriage ceremony will be performed, the license is <strong><u>only</u></strong> valid in the issuing municipality.
