New Jersey - South

Need Help finding a venue

Hey everyone. I became engaged recently and I am trying to find a place for my reception.  I live in the south jersey area and I have family both in Jersey and Philly. I havent decided on Philly or Jersey Location.  I am going to look at The Merion and Lucians Manor this weekend.  Do anyone have any suggestions, or feedback they can give me. I would really appreciate it

I think we looked at 500 places - well probably closer to 15, but both Luciens and the Merion were very nice.  Also check out Paris Caterers in Blackwood, Aulettos in Deptford, and Adelphia, also in Deptford.  Oh...and Collingswood Ballroom.  All were nice.  My favorite three would be the Merion, Paris Caterers and Collingswood Ballroom.   I never attended an event at Collingswood, but I thought it was beautiful.  Good luck.

You should also try Venice Plaza in Berlin, which is down the street from the Lucien's.  That's where I'm getting married at. It's beautiful and very afforable and Mike is very accommodating.  Other venues you can check out:  Shannon's Country Club, also down the street from Lucien's, Valleybrook Country Club, Tavistock Country Club, The Mansion in Voorhees, and Woodcrest Country Club.  You can also check out the hotels in Mt. Laurel like the Aloft and the Westin. GL!

I'm from the AC area, but a lot of magazines keep showing the Camden Aquarium for weddings.  I looked online, and they are pretty resonable for the type of place it is.  My high school's prom will be there (I'm jealous...so much nicer than we ever had), but it's in jersey and easily accessible for family from Philly.  Just a thought!

We're going with Lucien's, but I was also impressed with Indian Springs Country Club in Marlton.  The staff was very nice and they were willing to work with out budget.  The venue just ended up being too small for us.

My reception is at The Merion.  You may also want to check out Riverton Country Club, one of my friends had hers there and it was very nice.  I never went to a reception at the Collingswood Ballroom, but a friend of mine did and said it was gorgeous.
I also liked Knowlton Mansion in Northeast Philly & Penn Ryn Mansion in PA, but The Merion offered so much much food and logistically is just easier since I am from the area.
Hint....if you get married at an off time of year the Merion gives really good discounts.

My reception in at Elite Catering at the Coliseum in Voorhees.  I booked them because they fit my budget, but they now have new owners, and I think they have uprgraded a lot of stuff, so check them out.  I am going next week to meet with them, I'll post a reivew of how I like them now with the new owners!

My first wedding was at Luciens in the Venetian Ballroom and it was absolutely fantastic.  The food and service were wonderful.  People couldn't stop talking about it.

My upcoming (second) wedding is at Auletto's in Deptford which is also beautiful.  I have been to weddings here before and they were great.  I really like the wine room for the cocktail hour, and if the weather is nice, people can go outside which overlooks the lake.

You might also want to check out Scotland Run Golf Club...it was very pretty there also when I looked at it.

I went to a 30th birthday at the Camden Aquarium, it was quite nice and the food was decent.

Hi!  I'm getting married at the Merion next Jan.  I looked at quite a few places but was also impressed by the Crystal Tea Room in Philly and also Cescaphe (if you're having a larger wedding).  To me the Merion and Cescaphe were equal in terms of food quality and attention.....but the Merion didn't require me to have a 200 person guest list (instead my required head number is 150) and I simply could not ask for a better event planner than Cathy from the merion!

If you are having a smaller wedding I think the Tomasello Winery in Hammonton can be nice.  I'd live that venue for a smaller less formal wedding of about 80 people.  I'm actually ordering my favors for the wedding from there!  Good luck!

Collingswood is soooooo beautifull. One of my best friends got married there. I feel like I have looked at 100s of venues in South Jersey too. I haven't picked a place yet, but I'm leaning towards (believe it or not) the Pennsauken Country Club or the Boathouse. Most likely the country club because I fell in love with the outdoor deck and the wedding coordinator. The room is super pretty too, very lofty looking!

Good luck on your venue hunt!!!Smile

I am getting married at Scotland Run Golf Club in Williamstown! Super gorgeous outside pavillion and nice large room! Love it because they only do one wedding a day. Your cocktail hour is on a balcony with tiki torches overlooking the golf course! Joann and Kelly are super accommodating! Good Luck!
