AMH- I am a total coupon fail.  I clip them and then forget to take them with me.  FAIL.  Even bigger fail, I have them in my purse and forget to use them.  Double FAIL!

I am very impressed with your skills.  I love seeing what you have gotten with them.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Happy Tuesday! : WOWWWWWW... okay. Thanks for pissing me off this morning. I am a 'couponer' by no means am I extreme. But you bet your ass I will use a coupon for every single item I buy. EVERY item. And you know what - I know every store's coupon policy better than the employee's themselves. Explain to me why I shouldn't use a coupon when the manufacturer is PAYING the store to accept them. AND its each stores choice if they are going to double coupons or not. There are plenty, plenty, of people who use coupons properly and by regulation. So just because there are a few odd balls you dealt with doesn't mean everyone is like that. I save my FI and I over $300 a MONTH with coupons.. and that goes straight into our savings. AND I don't even use doublers! Beacuse no one here doubles coupons. <strong>You know.. now I see why people say you sound stuck up. </strong>Because that was a very stuck up comment to make and a very sterotypical/generalization comment at that.

Wow, gee thanks. I really don't even know how to respond to that...Glad to know what you ladies really think of me.

I just wanna chime in really quick to say again that amh is my couponing HERO.

    Anyway....
Beach I am sooo happy for you! Congrats!!!! T&Ps for good inspection results!!
Cal, great to see that you're up and at it again! Last I heard from you, you were getting all cabin fever at home! I'm gonna need to make that sangria recipe tomorrow! Sounds amazing!
Sami, The first thing I saw this morning was your FB status about Explosive Eighteen! LOL, I am so curious now about these books.

So, as for whats going on with me, well FI won a poker game on Saturday, which means he is going to take me out to dinner tonight if I feel ok to do so (I've been sicky) Other than that, just a bunch of sickness and wedding prepping in my life lately. Tomorrow we get to meet  with the officiant to talk about us a little bit, so that he has something to talk about at the wedding.

Oh, and amh, I need your advice on Black Friday, cause I'm skurred. It will be my first year going, and I'm not sure if I am truly up for the crazy!

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Happy Tuesday! : I get that.  People who lie and cheat are in the wrong for sure.  I have a feeling most people will agree with that, but when you said you hope couponers end up in hell or something, that's a bit too far.  I also have a habit of diving in before I think about who my words might hurt, but it's not a bad thing to step back and re-read and make sure you're saying what you really mean <strong>rather than throwing around tough words like "hate" and "hell".</strong> Someone who is thrifty and uses coupons for things they will use (not like the diapers for a childless family, like AMH mentioned) is admirable, I think.  The coupons are out there to be used, and it's in the store and the manufacturer's best interest that they be used as they're supposed to be used.  But yelling at a cashier is never justified (okay, rarely, but certainly not over an expired coupon).  And cheating the system is wrong and equivalent to stealing, in my opinion.

"<strong>They</strong> get mad when the coupon is expired or specifies that they have to buy the specific size. I <strong>Hated those people</strong> with a passion of 1000 suns. "

And yes, I did have an invested interest in the store, I worked at a family owned small grocery store where our raises were directly associated with how well the store did as a whole and they did not have the economies of scale like the big names like Wal-mart andTarget to sustain a double coupon policy anymore.

I will not shop on Friday.  No way!!!  I hate shopping on any day, but on a big shopping day is my personal idea of the inner circle of hell.

This weekend, we're having lots of doggie play dates with FI's law school buddies who have dogs.  Today I'm taking her to the dog park at lunch - she's been so playful with other dogs and I want her to meet lots of them!

ETA:  CAB, less than a month!  EEeeeeeeek!  Feel better, get wedding stuff done!  I'm so super excited to see how wonderful it all turns out.  I forget, are you guys taking a honeymoon?

If you have expired coupons - go to coups for our troops FB page - you can mail them all there and they will send them to families and commissaries overseas - because they can use them up to 6 months past the expiration date there. :)

And thank you - it's really saved us a lot of money and has definitely helped put money back into our pockets. Looking back I can't believe we paid the amount of money we did for groceries. I get that it isn't ideal for everyone and it really does take up time.. but for those who can its extremely beneficial.

Clearly they did not think that offering double coupons was less important that a raise for the workers. Ultimately, it benefits the store to offer that to customers.

Amanda - it hasn't been said behind your back, its been stated clearly in your football posts.
And maybe I was a little harsh - but just because I enjoy saving money and enjoy only spending $32 for $140 worth of things - doesn't mean I should go to hell, or burn in 1000 suns or whatever it was that you stated. That is extremely mean. Not all people don't follow coupon policies. BUT I will say that cashiers who don't want to read the coupon before telling me I can't use it, only for me to explain that - oh yes I can and I will and bust out their coupon policy do make me mad. Last I checked - you were PAID to stand behind the counter and ring up my coupons and everything else I buy. I'm paid to deal with some things I might not want to do - but you are in fact paid to do that - it is in the job description, if you cant handle it, don't do it.

CAB - Aww shucks. I try my best, it isn't as good as some women, but I really do try. I hope you feel better.
    My black friday advice is:
    1. Make a list of everything you intend on buying on black friday
    2. Go through the ad's and see who has what at the best price - write that store down on your list with their price.
    3. Write down next to it what time the store opens.
    4. Prioritize (sp) - what MUST you get versus what youd LIKE to get.
    5. WalMart and Target will in fact price match. Which will solve any issues say your biggest 3 deals are at walmart and target - well.. they are both doing electronics at 12:01am and you have to be at both. Do whichever you prefer and bring that ad with you to show them and they'll give it to you at the price match.
    6. Bring ad's along with you.
    7. Go with Friends - very important for getting the best deals and getting a cart :)

If you need any help - PM me and Ill help you out. oh.. blackfriday2011.com has previews :)

Beach- Yay! Congrats on your new home! Cali- That's true, where you and your FI are is home. I guess I just call everywhere "home." Where my FI and I are home, but where my family is is also home to me. I think I also just have a different mindset because my FI isn't planning on this being his career, so we will be moving back. So it's still home to me. I guess what I meant to say is that I'm sorry you won't be with the rest of your family during the holidays :) CAB- Feel better! I would bring you homemade soup and gingerale if I could!

Cab: Feel better soon! Your FI plays poker too? H is a biggie on poker, it's his game. He's been wanting to go lately but closest casinos here are like 3-4 hours away.

Amh: $32 for $140 worth of grocery? Please explain to me how you do this!!! Whenever H & I go shopping we always manage to pay $200 worth of stuff. They always add up! We use coupons too, once we get anyway. We don't get a whole lot of them yet, we usually use the ones they have at the commissary.

For the record, I may not be an extreme couponer but I LOVE coupons for anything! Whether it's at the grocery or my favorite clothing store! I usually don't even shop until I have coupons and add my military discount on top of that!

Thanks!!! So, is it a bad idea that we are going to wait outside starting at 8pm? Will we be too late? Here is our plan..
Target, 8pm- Goal is the Xbox
if that doesn't work out, we are going to Gamestop
if THAT doesn't work out, then we are going to Kmart, for their 5am opening. All this for a damn Xbox, but its what FI wants for his wedding gift, and I'd rather pay for that then 170 glasses.

I think thats perfect timing. :) Youll do great - if anything else fails if you can go to the exchange theyll price match the exact item as well. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, also - keep an eye out for cyber Monday :)

Kara - I just match up coupons with the sales. Target is amazing - because a lot of things go on sale and if you Buy 3 you get a $5 gift card. I get three newspapers - I'm actually upping that to 4. Every weekend - So when you have multiple coupons you can score multiple deals :)
My favorite deal last night: Air Wick Candles were on sale from $2.99 to $2.50 they were Buy 3 get a $5 gift card. I bought 6 and got $10 in gift cards. So 6 at $2.50 = $15 and then I had 3 coupons for $4 off of 2 candles - $12 in coupons. I paid $3 and got $10 in gift cards, actually making $7 just buy buying the candles. Smile

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Happy Tuesday! : I don't get any papers.  I don't think I'd even know how to begin clipping coupons.  Is there a blog or a website or anything for newbies to this?  I'd love to save money - might not do it as much as AMH, but to save on the things we actually buy anyway would be great.  Why not, right?!

tbh, this is what I do. Grab my scissors, pull out all the inserts (usually two or three) and just start flipping. If it's something non-perishable, eg, the shampoo brand either of us use, tin foil, ziplock bags, i always clip it. And i realllly try to use those before they expire since it's not like anything is going bad. Ad for the rest of the stuff, I have a discerning eye. What are we cooking in the next few weeks? Did I want to make a pie anyway (so snag those Pilsbury frozen doughs!), H eats the same thigns for lunch every. day so I always grab deli meat, cheese and tuna ones for him. We're also not brand loyal except for yogurt sort of and his ketchup. So tuna for instance, a bunch of different pasta sauces we'll eat, stuff like that I'll clip whatever I see. And I bought one of those wallet sized dividers at Michaels in the $1 bin so I keep things sorted by meats, health and beauty, veg/dairy, etc. And if they expire on me, so be it. But Sometimes I get monsterously excited when something is on sale AND I have a coupon--shampoo/toothpaste is GREAT for that. Never pay full price! :)

Irish - I don't read the newspapers either, I just get the coupons and recycle the rest away or use it to protect the table for crafts.

If you ladies want I'll write up my coupon how to and post it. I follow a couple different ladies on FB that share wonderful deals throughout the day - The Krazy Coupon Lady and Couponers Connections and Couponers United - there are a TON out there actually.

I get most all of my coupons from the sunday newspapers - the last one of the month is the BIG one - it has Proctor and Gamble coupons in it (P&G) Occasionally I print them. Also - thefamilyunitpg.com - they will send you quartely coupon booklets only good at the commissary - but a portion of the money will go to your local USO. and www.pgtryit.com - will send you samples and coupons.

But if you ladies want how I do it - I will be more than happy to post it. Just let me know.

    Beach-Woot!

Crown-I am a fellow coupon fail. I totally clip them or look up sales and then just kind of forget, my mother would be ashamed.

I will admit that Extreme Couponers really just looks like hoarding to me, though (I mean the people on the show seem to show obsessive and compulsive tendencies). Some of them seem to buy things that they don't particularly need or want jsut to save money, and that seems to be a tipping point to me. I don't care if there's not dust, there are 120 bottles of mustard. Plus, lately they've been showing it where they "give back", but really at least 3/4 of what they buy on their charity missions goes back into their own hoard, they're only giving about 25% of what they bought that day (not what they already had) to the charity. Don't get me wrong, it's great to give, but it seems a little disengenuous how they set those stories up. Like the young guy (maybe early 20s) that had some ridiculous number of maxipads and tampons, I just want to be like--donate that, you're not using it, and I'm sure there's a women's shelter that would love it. You can always get more if you need them at some point.

Last night on TV was watching what I like to call "A&E's night that makes me so grateful for my life and family." Pretty much, Hoarders, Intervention, and Monster in Laws (which is so awesomely awful and I highly recommend it). For all of those shows, it feels like there's a lot of "How did it get to this point?" It just makes you wonder that if you had been with someone for 15 years and married for 10 and had a kid, how have you still not addressed that your mother hates your husband so much that she tries to set you up with other men? That's a long time to just let it ride.

DMB - The show extreme couponing is just that - extreme. Most of the stores bend their policies to have '15' minutes of fame. I wish they would do more realistic people. Those who have 20 boxes of pasta, like myself, but use them for dinners or have 4 things of hot sauce - not 280. I think that is more impressive to see - than what is currently on that show. I cant imagine how nor why people would use their kids rooms for stockpiling. It really really upsets me. But.. it's a TV show.

I haven't seen monster in laws yet - maybe i should dvr it - what nights does it come on?
