ADVICE PLEASE!!!

Ok, so both myself and my fiance are in the military (I'm Air Force, he's Navy). And we're now having trouble picking a location for the wedding. His family lives in Ohio, and mine are in Texas and Florida. I wanna make this as easy as possible for everybody, but I'm just not seeing a solution. Any opinions, thoughts, and ideas are welcome. Please and thank you.

Re: ADVICE PLEASE!!!

  • I'm kind of in the same boat.  My FI and I are in Alaska, his family is mostly in Northern Cali and Southern Oregon and most of my family's in Oklahoma.  We've decided to have it in Oklahoma because I have a lot more family then he does.  We were going to find a location in between, but we've decided on Oklahoma.
So I would look at your guest list and figure out which side would have more people traveling or pick a location in the middlle so everyone has to travel.  I know you want to make it easy on everybody, but you can't make everyone happy and it's your day.  So pick a place where you want it to be and everyone who is important will be there.
  • The problem is that there's no easy solution.  You guys have to decide what's most important to you - it might be that one family is more mobile than the other.  I would write down a list of VIPs - people YOU absolutely need at your wedding.  Figure out a location that the biggest amount of those people can attend.

Some choose to do a destination wedding so it's fair, and then invite everyone but expect larger decline rates, and then have a casual barbecue or something at each location to celebrate with those who couldn't make it to the wedding.  That's probably what I would do.

  • We both have pretty big families, haha. So we were thinking maybe somewhere in the middle, like Tennessee. It's just better when you actually know the area you're planning such a big day in. Thanks a lot for ya'lls help.
