Oh and to answer the question:

  • edited December 2011
One of the things I dislike most about Tebow, is the bible verses on his eye black, I just felt like that was unnecessary.  Plus people say he's like the best QB Evvvveeeerrr and I disagree.  I agree with you though Elle, he was always very sportsmanlike and that is something that I can appreciate.

I agree.  Also being a Gamecock myself and the fact that he totally kicked our butts every year, I was not sad to see him go.  I also hated hearing about how great he was blah blah blah this and blah blah blah that.  Ok he is good we get move one.  Of course I feel that way about Cam Newton but for other reasons, like he is a cheater.  SEC football gets my blood all to boilin' HA!

I'm all for Tebow posting Bible verses on whatever of his own stuff as long as it's for him - freedom of religion and all, right?  However, the pro-life ad definitely pissed me off - that's preachy and unnecessary.  I don't dislike him, though, especially not for crying.  That's part of being a dedicated athlete, you get emotionally involved.  I think it's just a machismo thing left in this country, that football players are "real men" and "real men" don't cry.  Bah humbug to that!

Amanda, that was rather bitchy, and I don't even watch college football.  You do realize you just basically told half of us that we deserve to get shot, and another bunch of girls that they're pompous asses, yes?

I'm proud to say I sobbed and sobbed (and then got raging drunk) after the Pats lost the Super Bowl after a perfect season.  I had earned those tears (and that Jack Daniels) after watching every single game from pre-season through playoffs!  Ugh, heartbreaker!

Sooo.... obviously I'm a Patriots fan.  Ya'll can hate.  Like Stan, we have a compromise in our house - I'm a huge Pats fan, and FI is a big Syracuse fan (all sports - especially lacrosse, football, basketball, in that order) so I root for his chosen college team (he didn't go there, but he grew up there) and he roots for the Patriots.  He even wears a Pats tshirt on game days - love that man!

I hold a grudge against the Giants for said Super Bowl, and dislike the Colts and Jets.  This season has started a new-found hatred for the Bills - I'll add to my hate list as more teams beat the Pats, but it just doesn't happen that often!

    Kiss

Ditto both statements. And to relate the two, I find it very annoying that Auburn was found "clear of any wrongdoings" for the whole Cam Newton fiasco. Glad to see that they know how to cheat the system. ETA - I suppose I should suck it up and congratulate your team on their win Saturday. It was a good game, even if I didn't like the ending.

Last I heard, they never actually announced a true reason beyond "not following team rules". My guess would be failing classes/not showing up for classes and/or partying too much, and that has nothing at all to with my bias against Ole Miss. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />

Melbelle- Thanks! It was a good game but I hated the way it ended for us since we lost our work horse Lattimore and we still have some really hard teams ahead.  USC seems to fall apart the last of Oct and Nov.

Sami- I kept hearing that too but didn't see or hear why.  I am nosy and want to know too!! HAA!!!!

Did some googling, and it's not popping up anywhere.  I'm usually pretty good at digging out dirt, but even the chat blogs aren't doing more than speculating...

Crown - Yeah, I was really sorry to hear about the extent of Lattimore's injury. That was an UGLY hit. I have to admit, when I saw him  go down, my first thought was "I hope he'll be able to come back to play... next week" (and please, nobody judge me for that... you know you've thought it at least once before in your life!), but I definitely didn't want him to be out for the season!!!

As for the Ole Miss thing... Good luck getting more details. They're keeping their mouths shut TIGHT. Which is probably a good thing, considering all the other drama surrounding their football program this season. And this thread is making me realize how borderline obsessive I am about SEC football. Geez.

Melbelle- we all said thank goodness we have a bi week next week.  At that point they didn't know the extent of his injuries.  I am totally obsessed with SEC football it is not just football it is a religion.  HAA!!!! Laughing  There are four seasons do you know:
    Football season
    Recruiting season
    Spring Ball
    Fall Ball-practice

I will talk to H about football all of the time and he is like that is one of the reasons I married you. HAA!!!

This thread may be dead, damn y'all were busy this weekend, the one time I'm away and not bored at the computer! :)

I went to Texas, so there's a good bit of Hook 'Em in our household. FI went to USM (University of Southern MS), so he just kind of roots for my team. My sis went to Ole Miss and my bro went to LSU, so that makes for some interesting football seasons in the family.

    As far as pro goes:

so everyone may be done - but i'l bite since I was mia.

Saints all the way for pro, but I do now have an afinity for the Seahawks since I was in Tacoma for a while. Fi like the 49rs poor boy * shakes head*

I love the ducks because i was one for a little bit, so they are my collage teem because of personal dedication. From childhood I'm Tulane, Old Miss and Navy. All of my allegiances may  not make sence, but that is irrelevant to my level of dedication due to personal ties to the teams. :)

personally I'll never give my my love of Navy football if only for the fact that it gets FI riled up which makes me laugh a loooottt!
