Father shot daughter multiple times

Clicky

The obituaries for the daughter and father were in our local paper.  I found the whole thing weird, so I googled and found this.  How tragic.

Backstory, I am a crime theory nerd.... During my undergrad I read a journal article about family crimes more specifically parents who murder their kids. Psychologists and Profilers agree that in most cases it's their twisted way of "protecting" their child. Like in this case, they often involve custody disputes. They want to "save" their child from the other parent. He then killed himself because he thought they could be "together."

Or on the other hand, he could have been so upset over the fact of loosing his daughter to his wife, he had the mentality that if he can't raise her then no one can. Then realized what he did was wrong, so he killed himself as punishment/guilt.

Yeah, I've heard that Shan... So weird.. I don't even understand how people end up with kids in the first place. Wouldn't it make sense that NOT having them would protect them? Or do they get this anxiety issue AFTER having kids?
I guess I get the custody thing.. but that still seems so extreme that I feel there MUST be some kind of signs before...

Like how schizophrenia doesn't pop up in most cases until people are in their 20s, but there are some signs that show through as children-teens? idk.. freaks me out though..
I will say that since being in such a stable relationship with H I have picked up some major anxiety, but murder? crazy :/

The article did state he was disable because of a previous head injury. That is where I would start when trying to explain his behavior.

That's so sad.  Things like that and where spouses snap and kill the other one scare the crap out of me.  Not that H has ever done anything to ever make me think he would do that, but I'm sure most people never thought they would do something like that.  It's just so scary to think that people can snap so easily and do something they otherwise probably never imagined they would ever do.

I feel like sometimes it truly is a total surprise, and sometimes there are signs that people didn't want to notice.  How many times have one of us said, "I think he may be a sociopath" or "He's got a serial killer personality" and never done anything because all we have is a creepy feeling?  You always see people on the news after a crime saying, "I should have known, something just didn't feel right."  But really, what can you do?

I personally feel like my boss is really creepy, as I mentioned in another post.  And even the new girl said he reminded her of a serial killer.  And both FI and my Dad aren't really thrilled with me being in the office after he gets fired in case he just snaps and comes back for some sort of revenge.  Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me, but I don't expect it.  And I can't exactly call someone and be like, "He hasn't done anything, but I get a creepy feeling."  Does that make sense?

Anyway, I'm going to ask the partners if we can work from the apartment they have upstairs for the first two weeks.  Normally whichever partner who is in town stays there, but no one will be in town those weeks, and I'd just feel better with a few lines of security, rather than our office when anyone can just walk right in, and we can't lock the door.  If we're upstairs, we have a security guard up front, the swipe to get in the building, then the deadbolt on the apartment door.  I just feel safer there.  Am I being paranoid?

C- I would definitely ask about working from up there.  I do freak out about stuff like that happening too (H says I watch too much tv, especially Law & Order).  I was going to write about random people going crazy and shooting someone in my first post, but then I figured people would think I was paranoid.  It is definitely something I think about though.

Sami- that's a sad story. My mom was in a book club with a lady that was married for 30 years. Her son found her and the dad dead in the garage. The dad had shot the mom and then himself. Can you imagine??
