wedding/PCS back-to-back

anyone else dealing with a wedding and PCS back-to-back? we're getting married Dec 18th and he's due to report to our new station on Jan 2nd. of course, since we're getting married post-orders-issue, I'm not included and we'll have to work backwards into *everything*. anyone else in this predicament?

Not now but I was over a year ago when we got married.  We did our PCS about a month after the wedding, and moved from NY to WA.

Since we weren't married when the hard copy orders came out the move was set for a single SM.  Luckily even between the two of us we were under the single sailor weight limit so shipping wasn't a problem.  Once H checked into the new command he filed the paperwork and then they reimbursed us the rest of the DLA money for being married.

it's stressful, but it is what it is and it's doable.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

Sort of... my FI will be just going on ADOS orders (temporary) two weeks before our wedding, so he'll be relocating then.  He'll find out in May whether it's the command he's been to before (ADOS orders last summer), and if so, he'll write to see if he can get two days worth of liberty for our wedding.  If it is a different command, he's going to request to start immediately following our wedding rather than before.  Either way, it's going to be back-to-back.  We get married on a Sunday, we have a big barbecue with our guests on Sunday, and then we drive to wherever he's stationed on Sunday (and Monday, if it's far) to move in!

I guess we just have to be flexible!  The military doesn't move quickly, and we're budgeting that our housing will have to be on single BAH for a few months just in case they don't process the paperwork quickly.  I'm also going to keep my civilian health insurance until we get it straightened out (it's only $143/month, so it's worth it for a month or two just in case).

My answer is, possibly. We're PCSing together as an unmarried couple in about a month. They've recommended he live off-base anyway, so that's not an issue. We're hoping to do what Beach did and send all of our stuff under his name and hope we come in under the weight limit. I, and our stuff, will stay at the base and he will do two months of training there, and then two months of training pretty much across the country, come back to the first base, and then we may or may not have to move. We're also going to try to plan a wedding after his training, so late April/early May--yes, my bio needs updating, which I will do as soon as we actually have a date.

I think it's all about communication and knowing that you might not see any reimbursement money immediately. We live off of his single BAH now, and it works pretty well as long as we're careful, and we know that even once we're married, it may take a while to get his married BAH. I know a couple that got married after the Airman got his orders and they couldn't use the military movers because they lived pretty far apart, so they rented a van and moved her stuff down her in late August. They still haven't recieved their reimbursement for moving expenses. It's one of the reasons I'm glad all our crap is mixed together now.
